The announcers they have on NBC are total douches. They have hardly anything positive to say.

I saw a soccor game on MSNBC two days ago.
Iraq upset Portugal 4-2. I was speechless.
Duffman
08-13-2004, 08:54 PM
ummm maybe cause the Americans brought over the biggest team out of all the countries... They need the extra time to walk past their mark...
Plus there is only so long you can have 2 man team from Boolgatisvtia on the screen.

08-13-2004, 08:55 PM
HOLY SHIT ARO!!! U SERIOUS? doesnt portugal have like the best overall player in the world or something?
Aro23r
08-13-2004, 08:57 PM
Well the ref gave Portugal a red card when it really only should have been a yellow card, so Portugal was down to only 10 players from like the 50th minute on...
But yea, Iraq beat Portugal 4-2.

I enjoy watching the Track and Field events in the olympics, because I'm a sprinter myself and just find it very entertaining to see how much the Olympians would whoop my ass in a 100 meter dash. I won't be surprised when it's like, "World Record!!! 100 meters in 6 seconds!!" And I will be sitting there.., "Shit man, I'm a slowass..I'm twice as slow as them."
well i gotsta say im more of a winter olympics kidna guy, but im UBER happy about seeing Tae Kwan Do, hoefully America will get its ass kicked and karate will finnaly be realized as importartant...(rant)
and soccer of course
ball room dancing in spandex will rock like hardness
Serge

Also, if you were watching it on an American broadcasting network of course it would favor the American team, duh.
Anywho, about what Aro said. That's the one thing I don't like about sports, shady refs. It irritates me to no end to see one team get away with murder while the other gets penalized to death. I've seen NHL plays where a guy will get called for a hook when a guy across the rink is spearing.

Jay Leno?
Anyway, isn't the torch water proof, thrd? That's awesome. However about the honor of lighitng the torch, why is that an honor? I don't see why people put so much importance on trivial things sometimes.

The first I've seen or heard anything about it was when I walked by the television downstairs while my parents were watching it.
I suppose it needs to be waterproof. The things that really caught my attention were the pivoting design, the counterweights, the size, and the way the flame gradually grew bigger and bigger as the torch angled upwards. It'd be a shame if it lit up like that in the guy's face.

You got to remeber that for football they only send their under 19 team cause the rest are involved in leagues which are more important than the Olympic games.
My friend Hannah Wilson is swimming for Hong Kong, I want to wish her best of luck.

some say you are a portugee, but that can be offensive depending on where you say it...My family reached guam from the azor islands, then later made it to fall river mass like many portugeese did. I'm half portugeese...But i deffinitly don't get my tan from that side lol

I noticed that both Hong Kong and Vietnam have athletes representing their own countries this year. I believe this is a first time for both countries to be represented on their own. Very cool.

I don't like the summer olympics, it's all dumb track and field and stuff. Now the winter olympics, they're awesome, with snowboarding, bob sledding, skiing, etc.

Now I'm not too keen on the Olympics or on international affairs I guess, but wasnt Hong Kong gobbled up by the Chinese People's Republic (or is it the People's Republic of China....I cant remember) How do they get their own olympic team? Wouldnt that be the same as sending a US team and a Texan team both?

This is Canada's smallest showing at the Summer Olympic games since Munich. I wonder how this is going to affect us, since we only took home 14 medals in Sydney.
I love paintball. It should be a olympic sport, but the US would completely dominate.

No, ck1, it shouldn't.

Yeah they are. I was watching the USA softball team playing Italy, (Laugh...now!) and a foul ball went into the stands. This one guy spent the next minute ragging on the guy who picked it up. He said something like "Way to go, you used your big shoulders to blast those women and children out of your path to that ball!"

(Australia) Thorpe and Hackett. 1 and 2 in the 400 freestyle. woop woop woop woop woop woop. And 1st in Womens 4x100 edging out America on the last 100.
When it comes down to medals per capita we kick everyone's buttocks.

The lady commentating the men's tandem diving was so scathing. She was overly critical of the dives, acting like she knew exactly how the judges were going to score them. She was inconsistently wrong, too; she would "score" them high one time and too low the next.
Having said that, Phelps was amazing. He deserved to win the gold!

I wish they'd put ultimate fighting in the Olympics.
It's actually a great idea, but they won't do it simply because it's so violent.
