"Some humans are born to serve, some to lead. Some desire great strength, some great wealth, but some desire only knowledge. It is said that humans use only 20% of their brain, and that in the other 80% lies great power. Very rarely, a man is able to tap into this unused area of knowledge. The secrets held within are mighty, and the humans who learn them often become extremely powerful. When such humans expire their mortal existence, their souls do not merely fade away, but take on a new, mystical form. These are the Archons."

Archon (http://www.battle.net/images/broodwar/pix/wall/cgarcprev.jpg)

Life : 50
Armor : 20
Blocking : 40/20
Power : 25 Unblockable
Range : Single space up to 3 squares away. No LOS required
Movement : 3
Recovery : 2

Special:
Plasma Shields : When the Archon exerts the full potential of its mind, it is able to bring a wall of plasma around itself. This wall covers all sides, and blocks any physical attacks directed at the archon. However, this requires great concentration, so the Archon is unable to perform any other actions whilst using this special. Due to the concentration required, the Archon must stop to rest after long periods of using this skill.

(The Archon gains 100% blocking from all sides, but focuses, this ability has 3 recovery. The maximum duration it can last is 5 turns, and the recovery starts when he stops using the ability.)
Note that unblockable attacks can still harm the Archon.

Summary : This unit is meant to be a quasi-mage. He has the durability of normal units, with the unblockableness of mages. However he hasnt got the damage capacity of the mage, nor can he survive as long as a knight.

First things first. You have given a mage massive blocking and very high armour, plus 40 health. And just to add onto that he has a special ability which will automatically force a draw if you kill all of their units with unblockable attacks.
It just seems to be an overpowered unit from my point of view, although I guess he can only attack one unit. But still. The armour and the blocking is too much.

he isnt really a mage, more a semi-mage. He uses an unblockable attack, yes. But he doesnt have the ability to attack multiple targets, so even if a pyro only hits 2 units, it deals more damage than the Archon would. This is why he has armor and relatively high blocking (though not all that much more than a Pyro).
The ability only shields him from blockable attacks, and i changed it slightly to prevent the draw forcing.

I guess its not all that bad. I was just more worried about the shield it produced around itself. Although it wouldnt really be too cheap, as even now we can surround a unit with two barrier wards, and after killing off all ranged units, its a forced draw.
Yet as for the blocking, I meant that in terms of the image you produced, as he does not seem to have anything to block attacks with (other than his mind, but I guess that would be his secondary attack). Otherwise he should be a well balanced unit.

I'm just worried about the copyright laws, since the Archon, down to its energy nature and mental abilities, is a rip-off of Starcraft.

"Archons" appear in loads of games in different forms. theres the starcraft version, theres a warlords battlecry one (kinda an angel with a flaming sword) and plenty of others.

i just linked to the starcraft one coz it seemed the most like what i had imagined. i would never want it to be identical, but that was the closest match and i cant be arsed to draw a massive picture of it myself.

As far as I can tell, this is a slightly modified dragon. It has more armor, less life (so the two almost balance out), and they both have short range unblockable powerful attacks. He can live just as long as a knight, especially with that ability of his. This unit is more powerful than most units, which is why I'd be hesitant to make it.

This is also a cleric killer. We have enough of those already.

i forgot to mention it cant be healed when using the special.

in retrospect it is a bit similar to a less uber dragon, but i dont think its too powerful. the ability can only last 5 turns max, and he can still be killed easily by paralysis and/or unblockable attacks.
