"When children are young, they are sometimes told stories of strange, evil monsters. They are told of the brave knights and heroes who slayed these monsters. The truth is far worse however. Sometimes, a creature is born mutated beyond recognisation. Survival of the Fittest means that most of these mutants die of illness or from the cycles of life. However, there are some who evade their hunters, and manage to survive, isolated from society. They are afflicted by hundreds of diseases that would kill a normal man within hours, however they learn to live with this constant torment. In battle, they are able to tear out small chunks of rotten flesh where these diseases are concentrated. Dripping corrosive blood while it travels, they can then throw these lumps with their deformed arms. Whoever is hit....well...they arent often in the stories told to the children."

(I believe all units should have a fairly detailed description, just adds to the flavor)

Stats
Life : 30 (they are barely able to survive on their own anyway)
Armor : 20 (by learning to live with their suffering, they grow resistant to pain)
Blocking : 50/25
Movement : 3
Recovery : 3
Range : 5 in a single direction (like an extended dragon attack pattern), uses LOS.
Power/Attack Pattern : Special. see below.

M = Monstrosity
Numbers = amount of damage done to that square.
X = Empty Square

X X M X X
X X X X X
X X X X X
X X X X X
X X 10 X X
X 10 15 10 X
X X 10 X X

thats just about comprehendable.

All damage done is unblockable.
The "explosion" looking part of the attack (ie the 10's and 15) will always be centered on whatever the attack hits. I felt the need to clarify that for LOS purposes, if it aims at a tile 5 spaces away, but there is a unit 3 away blocking the LOS, then that unit will take the 15 damage, and the squares surrounding it will take 10 etc.

Dude, you should write a book. You make good descriptions.

And for some reason I pictured this as an Abomination from WC3. Actually, theyre sewn together from corpses. Maybe I play that game too much.

ARGH!!! AN ORC!!! No wait, that's a rock.

Nice idea.

i was gonna call it an abombination, but i know how everyone reacts to anything even slightly wc3 related.
i like writing. our old english teacher only set us 1 piece of fictional writing in the entire 2 year GCSE course. the dastard. i sucked at writing about romeo and juliet and the likes. only A* i ever got was for the fictional piece. alas.

I like this. The only problem I have with it, is that the more ranged units there are, the worse focus units (chanty, frosty, BW, stone golem, any other focus units that are made) get.
As a unit though, it seems balanced, and cool :)

this unit is meant to be a compromise between normal ranged troops and mages. mages are weak, but powerful. scouts and the likes are long ranged but relatively low powered.

this unit is meant to combine some of the AoE of a mage, with the versatility of a scout.

Kudos on the description!

One thing I'm wondering about....

If the monstrosity throws a chunk of itself, how does it hit all the units in that line and the end area? It seems to me that it would hit the front unit, and then drop on the ground from bouncing off of it. Maybe it could turn the chunk of flesh into some kind of magic (fire, lightning) then have an attack pattern that is a combination of a DMW and pyro attack patterns. Just my thoughts........

the concept of the attack was the whole corrosive blood thing. its not so much the flesh that does damage, as the blood that drips from it and splatters over the others, hence the attack pattern.

nice bumping tho :)
