1) Biggest problem people have with making clans is on Revelations, they make a clan that no one would join and get stuck in it because you can't leave a clan while leader of it. Making a random clan in Revelations just makes more mod work, please don't do it.

2) Try joining good clans before making one, if you are looking to make a good clan, make sure you are well known in the forums and in the game, if you aren't well known, chances are you will make a stupid clan that has a bunch of noob members.

3) Don't make spelling errors when making a clan. You can only make one clan and then that is it. If you make a spelling error, then tough luck.

4) Do not make obsene clan names. Make your clan name appropriate for all ages.

5) It is always better to start a clan with someone else. If you have someone you are sure will join once you make it, then you double your members instantly, and can stop from your clan being completely lonely for a while.

6) Post in the Recruitment Postings that you are looking for members and post your restrictions. If you are only looking for high stats, then you could be a clan full of cheaters that get free stats. Instead, recruit people by playing them.

7) Make a clan website. If you think your clan is successful, then make a website with your own private forums and everything. This should help your clan communicate.

8) Now, making your clan. Type /clan *clan name* and start recruiting. Remember, more members=more fun, so recruit a lot!

I await any form of response. Maybe a comment, or something you want me to add to the list...

Its a good idea to have confirmation of several members (preferably multiple golds in there as well) BEFORE you make the clan. Your kinda screwed if you make the clan...then can't get any members.

Realize that nobody wants to join the clan of a nobody. If your new to the game, and you don't have any sort of experience or reputation, your only going to attract people with no experience and no reputation. This means you will have a unskilled and unknown clan.
If you want to attract players with skill and who can aid your other members in becoming skilled, you'll likely need to do so yourself.

Also remember that it takes many people of repute and skill to keep a clan going, nobody can do it themselves.

boo!
what good clans of repute actually particpate in this? I can't think of any on Army at least, and the clans I'm familiar with in Banff and GL don't as far as I know.

I can understand the whole getting involved in the TAO community. But I standbye my saying that until TAO creates a system to support wars/alliances, I won't either :P

Clans on banff do that all the time! But it's more just fun rivalry stuff than anything else.... at least for the most part.

Also, I created a clan after 3 weeks and it's (for some reason I'm not quite sure about) considered one of the big clans on banff (we only have like.... 5 members... don't ask me, I don't know why we are)

You think you are ready to make a clan? First look over these guidelines, and think very carefully before making the clan itself.

1) Each GOLD account may make ONE clan on its home server, and ONE clan on Revelations. If you decide to make it, CHECK YOUR SPELLING. On Revelations, if you make a clan, you will be unable to remove it. So make sure you want to run a clan, and not join an established one. When you are ready, type /clan NAME OF CLAN. You now have the ability to control the clan. Type /help to see the available commands, as well as what they do.

2) A successful clan should always have a website and a forums for clan communication. It builds a sense of belonging, and will help your website thrive.

3) Set guidelines for your clan. What is and is not acceptable behavior, and what is needed to get into your clan should be widely known.

4) If your clan chooses to, try and make allies with established clans. This is especially helpful if you decide to become involved in Wars.

5) Get more members. Larger clans are usually better established, and more fun for members. Post a recruiting thread in the forums, and advertise in game. DO NOT spam the lobby with begging people to join.

6) If you wish to leave your clan, give it to someone who will carry it on. On Revelations, you are stuck unless a clan member wishes to take over leadership.

Following these guidelines will hopefully make your clan experience more enjoyable.

That was a revision that puts it into a better chronological order, as well as compacts what they need to know into nice easy steps.
Consider it a revision by the editor.

Consider it a revision by the editor. Do you want me to edit my first post and make it that?

Y'all are too hard on T3!! I love it T3... Needs a few tweaks, but great idea!

Jeff, I know you mean well huney, but please, for goodness sake, pm that stuff instead of making him out to be an idiot on his own thread! Unless of course he asked you to proofread it and fix the little errors. No one likes to be belittled.

T3, I suggest doing whatever it is you want... Jeff's revision is there for others to read.

Thanks Hugh for the 4 for effort. Quite humorous!

agreed that you shouldn't feel obligated to alter it unless you feel like it :)

but I like public belittlement, its how most ppl learn. Its also more fun. Especially for those of us with a lack of morals.

You forgot that clan names with symbols in them are ugly. Yes, even _OUTKAST_.
