can anyone explain to me about wireless internet and what equipt you need to get it and approx cost(in the us) and any wireless providers.. i am just totally dumb on this subject

Wireless internet is not so much a service as a computer equipment issue.

Most laptops come with wireless internet built in, or capable of being added. It allows you to connect to a Wireless Router, which basically takes the internet connection, and broadcasts it into a radio type wave. Most common is the 802.11b style wireless, although 802.11g is becoming more common, as it allows a broader bandwidth to be usable.
Desktops computers can also be equipped with this technology, eliminating the need for wires running to all the computers in a system.
Requirements:
Internet Service
Wireless Router- To transmitt the signal
Wireless receiver- Each computer on the network needs one to take the signial.

BTW Apple calls their wireless systems "Airport" and "Airport Extreme" but it is the same as the PC system wireless cards.

Now, in some places, there ARE wireless Internet Providers. The provide internet connections via a wireless broadcast system. In order for your house to receive the signal, you need their receiver and service. Everything else about them is the same as every other Internet Provider.

ok this is what i would like some more info about if anyone knows where i can find out who are the wireless internet providers in florida or what websites to check out that would help me figure this out for my parents

Jeffery seems like he knows exactly what he's talking about so I would probably consult him on the subject further.

i appericate ya'lls help, but i have an understanding about wireless networks. what i don't understand is what you need to have wireless dsl or something like that where there is like an antanea on your roof kinda thing and no cables or wires running to the router or network to get internet......i really don't know how to explain what i mean cause like i said i don't know anything about it
