Sorry for the lack of descriptions, ill probably add some later but im not in a very creative mood.

Engineer

Life : 40
Armor : 0
Blocking : 30/15
Power : --
Attack Pattern/Range: Knight
Move : 3
Recovery : 5

Special : The Engineer attacks empty squares or blueprints.
If attacking an empty square, he places a blueprint for a unit. If this is attacked or walked over, it disappears.
If the Engineer "attacks" a blueprint, he begins work on a unit. The first "attack" starts work,a second one finishes the work. When the work is finished, the unit is complete and enters battle under your control, in the position it was built in. Hence overall 3 attacks are required to make a new unit from scratch.
When work on a new unit is started, units cannot move through that square, but an attack will still destroy the construction.

When a unit is finished, it acts just like a normal unit, with the exception that it is labelled a contraption, and therefore doesnt need to be destroyed as a victory condition. Besides this, it behaves normally.

The unit made by the engineer is called a Clockwork Bomb. Its stats are as follows :

Clockwork Bomb (Contraption)
Life : 25
Armor : 0
Power : 20
Blocking : 0
Movement : 6
Recovery :1
Attack Patten : Assassin

The clockwork bomb explodes, dealing damage to all surrounding units, but killing itself. It can be controlled like a normal unit.
Note that the clockwork bomb is a contraption, so doesnt need to be destroyed to win.

Mechanic
Life : 45
Armor : 20
Blocking : 40/20
Move : 4
Power : 35
Attack Range/Pattern : Knight
Recovery : 1

Specials : The Mechanic can only target contraptions. When attacking, he damages enemy contraptions but heals friendly ones.

I'm loving the engineer idea.

However, random unit is not a good idea. I say, make a unit that the engineer always makes.

I calculated it takes a minimum of 9 turns to create a new unit.

Use that figure how you will.

not the most taxing of calculations there DFG :p yes, i thought 9 turns was a reasonable amount for a new unit to be made unless the opponent did something about it.
and im thinking that i could make him make a completely new unit design, some fairly generic type of melee unit. the "Clockwork Warrior" hmmm

Truth be told, the mechanic is a bit weak.... it's a rare day in TAOville where I'm willing to go the extra distance to kill something that can't even move

weak in wha sense? tho i guess he could use a couple-o-changes

6 movement with one wait? That's pretty high.

The engineer and clockwork or good ideas persay, but I can't see wasting a unit just to make another one that dies after one attack, and only deals 25 damage. It could kill a cleric, but only after proper positioning, and i'm assuming that you would only make a clockwork thing on the back row out of harms way, right? Just seems that the reward for sacrificing a unit for this engineer should be greater than this one unit, that probably wouldn't get used effectively anyway, right? But very interesting and creative Walrus, good job.

i see what you are saying, but remember you can make more than 1 clockwork bomb in a game. it also means if the game becomes a stalemate you can make 2 or 3 bombs and rush them all in simultaneously.

and serge, 6 movement for a fairly weak kamikaze unit surely isnt that bad?
