View Full Version : Tournament Idea

It's simple really: Standard rules apply, except for one thing: no Clerics.
When I see someone with two clerics, playing the wimps way and constantly healing, I usually think "I would so own this guys ass if cleric didn't exist."
In this tournie, you can't hide behind the healing of your cleric(s).
Every damage point counts.
To prove a victory, you'de have to take two screenshots. One at the start (to prove you used no clerics) and one at the end (to prove you won).
Attempting to play with cleric will result in disqualifiction.
Thoughts?

The tournament idea is very interesting, even though I don't agree with your critisizms of a valid strategy.

the thing i see if the cleric is really one of the only counters to luck. when im unlucky in a game i go heavy on the cleric to win because its either that or start getting lucky yourself. whover is just a little bit lucky would win unless they suck and they are playing someone really good

I think it would work pretty well, but it gives a definite advantage to bombers and rushers.

One time, I was playing FryLock right? And I look, and he has a freaking dragon! I mean, how cheap, he used a valid unit. If he didn't use that unit, I SO would have pwned his ass.

haha tek dats funny ... but i dont like tis tourney idea. bombs and bad rushers would own turtlers just because thats what they need to do. kill your cleric. and if you dont start with one then youve already done half of their job for them

I'm sorry but I must comment on this.
This is in no form a 'wimp's way' of playing. It's a valid strategy. I am willing to bet that you just cannot play well against an opponent that uses duo-clerics. So you find the best excuse for your poor play against it is saying it's not a real strategy, or it's wimpy to do.
Everybody complains about Mage Bombing. Think about this, would they complain if they could beat them?
People think that having excuses like "I only lost because he uses a wimpy setup" excuses the fact that they lost. You still lost. And you'll continue to keep losing against whatever form it may be. So stop complaining and just train to find a good form against your weaknesses in game.

No....o wait.... yeah you were right they do
I personally don't play double clerics anymore either. Not because they own me, but because owning them just takes too much time. I have always believed 2 clerics just prolongs the inevitable, you've either got the skills to win, or you don't. But I just got tired of playing hour and 15 minute games against greys rated between 800 and 850 with little skill and 2 clerics. But since I don't care about stats anymore, I just surrneder when I see the doubles. So anyways, I feel your pain DFG, it is more annoying than anything, and the idea does kind of sound like fun.

When playing a 800 grey with two clerics, kill the clerics. The game then takes 30 minutes instead of 60. :)

When I see a double cleric setup, I am happy. It means one less unit to kill, and they can do nothing to break somethings focus (not hinting towards any units here). Although they may be able to heal a hell of a lot, unless they have stoned units, you can do as much damage as they heal each turn, and as long as you go for one unit at a time, you should do fine. The only problem with double cleric formations is that people who use them are usually highly defensive, meaning they will not move for the entire game. That has DRAW written all over it if you don't want a long game.

It's still hard to beat a knight which is doing the attack, heal, attack, heal, attack pattern. Which is why you need a) your chanty and b) the enemy scout to die quickly.

If they play defensively, then you can find a weakness and exploit it. To formation can have a perfect defense against a concerted, well coordinated attack.

I agree with Bob - if someone has 2 clerics, you need to attack one unit at a time when possible. Just keep hitting the same unit over and over again. Obviously this is hard with defensive opponents, but eventually it will pay off.
I play with 2 clerics in my grey setup (Click Here) and they are way back out of the way. Maybe playing with it helps me attack it when my opponent has 2 wee healer men?
Peace!
