Posting to ask a question of the TAO comunity which involves that of my little intellegence... and horrible internet connection.
http://www.freewebs.com/perpetualdemise2/
My site... (above) does it work for you guys? I think freewebs really screwed up something, and it's not the first time. But either I get something saying "freewebs.com/perpetualdemise2 not found" or I get some other random site that is not mine, but made on freewebs. And when I tried going on my site manager, ALL my documents and stuff where not on the directory, it just said, "Directory not settup right."
If anyone can see that site, please email me with the source (zylon89@hotmail.com) so I can transfer it to some other host since freewebs really sucks.
But here's my other problem... just finding another website host. I've tried geocites and angelfire, but couldn't even figure out how to stop using stupid templates. I also tried freepgs.com but they're not accepting new registrations now or something. I tried one that gave a free .info donaim out for about a month (not sure how long the period was, but short I think) but it required a credit card number for some reason, and I do not have one... And I also tried two other places which create .s8 or something like that donaims, yet I couldn't even register at those either.
So... help?

I can see it fine, if it's the right one.
Welcome

I decided to just take away the pop-up window. Don't need it, and I think this looks much better anyway. Most of the content has been added too now, along with some new sections and a forum. The forum is up now, but still is being worked on so it looks pretty bad.
Is that your material? If so, I can see it fine. Try tripod for a webhost, but they do have ads on their free accounts. They have a fairly easy to use file manager, too, so you don't need to use templates.

It seems to work for me....
Assuming you made a website with a drumset as available wallpaper... :)
However, sicne i am using safari, and not the suggested IE, the page framed very small in the center of my screen.

So yes it's working fine... for everyone but me. :(
That doesn't make sense though... why can't I get to my own website? I leave soon for band practice so I'll see after words if it gets any better...
And it was working like 5 minutes before I made the post. I just refreshed it, and nothing worked.
But I'm stuck in some cycle between a wrestling site and some other really weird thing now... constantly refreshing, yet get nothing else.
Edit: I only have IE sudgested because of the scrollbars coloring stuff.

Get rid of that scrollbar crap.
I'm going to host the files on my site for now, so you can download them. Just right click the link and save the file.

Thanks third, I downloaded them now so you can take them off your space now if you want.
I think I will use tripod. I quick checked it out and saw I had made an acount there a while ago (date of last update was march something) so it works fine.

No problem. Don't forget to change the source of your pages once you upload them to the new server. Most of the links won't work until you edit that.

...:D
Well, my internet must have been screwing with me or somthing, since now freewebs works fine for me too.
I transferred the site to tripod, cept I I assume there are now adds on everything... including the iframe which I really do not want. So I'm not sure yet what I'll use.
But that's not why I posted this. New question:
*quick checks to make sure that APZ isn't looking*
anyone know where I can host a php file...? :)
I wanna try some php stuff too... but can't host my file. Even walagata won't let me do it unless I pay somethin' and tripod uploaded it... and put an ad on it -_-' (Well, that's what I'm blaming the fact that it's not working on now :D)
I hate free services... they all suck. :(
Cept for the free part...
Edit: nvm, I THINK I just found something... and it is a free website host too! I must look into this.. :)

I used 50 megs until I got my own paid service.

Yea... that was one of those sites I was talking about in first post, "Could not register..."
Everytime I clicked, "sign up!" in the free part, it just refreshed the page...

That's very odd. If you ever think about getting your own domain though you need to use www.ixwebhosting.com I'm with them and they are by far the best.

Actually I always have been wanting my own donaim for a while now... but just haven't been sure if I really need one. Lately I have been looking more into it, and 5 bucks a month is really not much at all for how much more I'm getting compared to all the free crap. But I'll take your word and use that site if I choose to, since I don't really even know any others.
But what do you think I'd probably need? I don't need more than one donaim. And how much IS 500 MB Space? I'm not sure how much "space" I need.
Edit: And I should be able to pull off paying 5 bucks a month for a WEBSITE and stuff with parents... as it is my money. Maybe I can also convince them I need to pay TAO 5 bucks a month too for extra webspace... :) (parents don't like idea of paying for a online game...)

As fr buying domain names themselves, I use http;//namealerts.com
You buy the domain, and then have full ownership of it, for $9 a year. You can then set the domain to any hosting service.
The advantage is that YOU own the domain. Most of these others that offer free registration retain ownership of the domain, and you get to use it only as long as you keep it with their system.
I also use http;//frognet.net for hosting. $100 a year gives you 1 gig space, unlimited bandwidth, as well as 10,000 email boxes, and hosting of up to 10 domains in your one account.

Ugh... I'm confused. I don't quite understand how donaims and stuff work...
I see one thing were I'm paying like $24 for a "plan," and $5 for just a donaim. What's the difference?
And how does owning a donaim work...
Do I noramally just go to the place which I bought it to actually edit the site? If not, how would I edit it and upload files and stuff?
I went to look at the first site you mention, Jeffery, and the one you mentioned, APZ, but they both just made me more confused.

Bump.
Ok, more problems apear. Or have been here, and I'm just first getting really pissed off now.
My internet thing is having problems again and stuff. As I posted on some other thread I think, it always says...
Local Area Connection
Network cable unplugged
and then...
Local Area Connection
Speed: 100.0 Mbps
Of course, the internet is NOT working when it say the first thing.
Strange is this. Well, first of all the computer I use is settup for my family. I have my own loggin, my sister has her own, my brother has his, my mom has hers, and my dad has his AND he also is the "administrator."
This problem happens on my name, my sister's name, and my mom's name. I'm not sure if it does it to my brother's because he uses the computer about once every 2 or 3 months. And I know it works PERFECT on my dad's name, and I don't know about the "administrator" name.
So that confuses me... I assume that means it's NOT the router that is having the problem, and I highly doubt it's the internet provider (which is some special thing for the town I live in) since if it was I'm sure there would've been something done. This has been happening all summer.
Could there just be some setting that my dad has set that I don't that I need to change...? I've allready deleted all cookies, cache, history, etc... which my dad says he does often, but the problem still ensues.
------------------------------------
And another question... on donaims. I'm still thinking about just buying one. But I want to actually understand it first...
Ok, I buy a donaim name.
I also buy some webspace.
So then do I transfer the donaim name to my webhost and upload files and stuff from there...?

My router does the same thing everyonce and a while. When the internet goes down, click on the little computer on your task bar and a window should come up and select the default intenet connection (assuming you only have one), then a little check box should appear-connect even though this internet connection may not be secure, click it then click ok; wait a couple seconds and it should work.
And for domain names you buy the wespace for lets say $5.00 a month. Then you buy the name for $20 or so as a one time fee, I think. Then there is some site builder section, For example this one (http://www.ixwebhosting.com/pg.info.dspControlPanel/IXWEBSESSION/5364e268e0db2672c70e274e7f90c612) , and just enter all the coding and stuff into a certain section, kinda like freewebs.

Ugh... I'm not talking about my site. Read what I "bumped" and also check dates. -_-
The thing your talking about, I know it doesn't work. My actual site URL is freewebs.com/ppd but I didn't settup the redirect thing up properly yet. Er I think, I can't get on to freewebs, or any other site right now besides TAO forums due to the connection flickering.
