"Aeons ago, when the world was still divided between clans of humans who roamed in their own areas, the world held many mysteries. One of the greatest of these mysteries were the peculiar rocky spires that inhabited the desert areas. One clan dwelled within this desert, and it is said that all who tried to invade them through the rocky spires would be defeated before they even arrived. The mystics of this clan managed to cut off the tops of these spires and use them as magical devices to aid them in battle. Hence the Spires of Pain were created"

Spire of Pain (Contraption)

Life : 32
Armor : 12
Blocking : 100 all sides
Power : 3 Unblockable
Attack : Chanty sized area

0 0 0 0 0
0 0 X 0 0
0 X X X 0
X X W X X
0 X X X 0
0 0 X 0 0
0 0 0 0 0

W = Ward
X = Attacked Square
0 = Nothing happens here

Recovery : N/A

Special : The Spire of Pain isnt like most units, it does not need to be told when to attack, but automatically damages all units within its attack area for 3 power. This is not reduced by armor. This occurs every turn.

Note : The Spire damages your own units too.

An interesting unit, but you don't have an attack size, well you do but I'm not sure what it is. The low power and fact that it hits your own people makes it balanced, though hard to use. I'm not sure I would use it myself.

i said a chanty sized area, but ill edit it to make it more clear anyhow

Why not just say 2 squares away?

Anyway, yea I like this guy. With a small area for it to hit he can be used with Lightning ward to protect clericks and make it very dangerous for hand to hand or short range guys to try and kill your healers.

Excelent Idea.

It's simple, not to powerful, and unqiue.

Very nice idea, but I wouldn't use it in game.

Too difficult to manoeuvre around the damage area with low movement units. It'd just make it awkward.

well, its a very original idea, i actually think it is underpowered with 3 dmg...perhaps 4 or 5?

Walrus

i think that 3 is OK. its like a LW, a deterrent for enemies, either they go around it or risk being battered.

one word: WHY????
3 damage , come on.

Walrus
11-28-2004, 04:10 AM
have you actually bothered reading the unit?

it does 3 damage per turn to all units in a nearby area. armor does not reduce this damage, hence if an enemy attacks you without taking the time to go round the spire, they are guaranteed at least 9 or so extra damage on their units.

well because it was before the wisp good job, but now its really kind of too much like it

3 things:
1. hurts your units also so retreating your units there hurts them more then the opponents
2. even IF they hang around a cleric will heal 9 dam easily and since half the ppl who play this game have 2 clerics they would be un effected thus making this a useless unit.
3. 1 pyro and 1 dmw kills it.........just a waste of turns and units and code

Walrus

1) thats known as tactics. minimising damage to your own units while maximising it to your enemy.
2) a cleric cannot heal every single turn though. and if a cleric was so great, why do you so often get units on very low life retreating? this would finish them.
3) same with a barrier ward, pyro, witch, cleric, dsm or assassin. are they wastes of code? no. so hush.

peaple use pyros dmws b.wards. ect.....so they r not a waiste if people use them. and how is hanging around something that gives 3 dam minimizing dam to ur units???? and if everyone stayed away from it they could just kill it realy fast and go 4 ur cleric that would be indoubtedly behind it.

kensai

the whole point is that you position it, and your troops so that it isnt dealing damage to your units. jeez. thats the point of tactics and formation. and if you look at what other people have said, most have said that they like it and/or they would use it.

duh iv seen what most ppl have said but have u seen what i have said???
if u have no units aroud it ppl would just kill it easily and besides thati like to make my opinion and not base it on what others think......so what everyone else says doesnt matter to me.

if you dont have any units around it, and dont heal or barrier it, then yes it might die quite quickly. if the enemy focuses their fire on it.
if you place it correctly, then if the enemy focuses on it you should be able to kill at least one of their attacking units.
if you dont place it correctly its your own fault.
