More units?

Is it possible to get more units, without getting Gold?
I remembered reading something about it, but I can't find it now.

THere are random drops about 5 times a day where you can get new units even if youre not in gold. You have to win the match that you are in to get the unit

you have to be playing at the precise moment when the drop happens, and win your match. Since its random, sometimes you'll get a few drops a week, sometimes go for a month without even seeing one.
