While I was playing TAO, I fought a person named Asshole101. His strategy is to take as long as possible, just to make you leave. Obviously he's just doing that to rack up his win rate. I hate people who play this game just to rack up wins or just to kill noobies. This game is meant for fun... at least that's what I think. Even though I don't have a Gold Account just yet, (I'm planning on getting one though), I like to play Gold players and any really good greys. I wish there was something I could do to get rid of the people who screw up the game for everybody. I like playing TAO, but I'm getting really sick of these people...

Right. the stats are all well and good, but they're really not that important. You don't get anything except satisfaction for being No.1 on a server, and how can you get any satisfaction if you just cheat your way to the top. Not to mention that you'd get into an embarassing situation next time you played someone good.

yah i fought a guy who did the wait thing, his name was white rider i think... i just started to taunt him after i got bored, i think there is a post about that in here some where. neway, since i have absolutly no life, i just went and got a snack while i waited for the timer to run out. the vga's were on too, which helped me cope with the severe bordom

one turn I did that because i was mad at the person i was playing. But i got bored because it was stupid and just kicked his ass the regular way. fun.

As the Dark Lord Wurtil, I rarely find such problems arrising. If my opponent does not surrender immediately upon my arrival to the field of battle, then I can assure him that my victory will be far to swift for there to be wasted time. To one such as myself, time is merely another statistic for my immenant victories.

imminent, Your Dark Lordship.

Curse my dark hands, for my typing skills are weak and my spelling is sub-par. If only had eaten more pants as a child, perhaps things would be different. But I digress, for it is imminently so that my imminent arrival upon the imminent server of Great Lakes shall cause an imminent disseverance on the population of imminently inferior noobs. Repeat a word 5 times, and you shall never forget it again. So sayeth the Dark Lord Wurtil.

Your friendly neighborhood Dark Lord,
Wurtil

Your death is imminent if the use of the word is not. Imminent can be fun only so many times.

Might be me. I dunno.

Definitely Bills, and his four dragons.

I think his *5* dragons will eat you alive personally.

Once some ass started telling me to hurry up so I just started letting my time run out. He quit after 3 turns. If he wasn't rude to me I wouldn't have done it.

Hah, yeah I do that sometimes too sen

I dont know guys... how do you know they are waiting till the end on purpose? Maybe they just are thinking about their moves....

Its a strategy game, and if its a good strategy game it should take time to decide moves.
Maybe you should take your opponents delay as a compliment for putting up a good game, I know the only time I move fast is when im playing someone who obviously dosent know what they are doing.

well, the time they give you per turn is pretty generous. The only time i've even taken half of it is when i'm really stoned. Although, i do agree that you should be patient with it, since some people put more thought into their turns than others

I've lost games because I spent too much time thinking of my next move. The timer didn't run out, but it came close.

When a player does that to me, I just tell them I'm browsing the web (which I am). So they have to watch the timer while I just listen for the turn noise while reading web-pages :)

While I admit to occasionally getting distracted and using up almost all of the timer, I do try to be prompt in my actions. I figure that while taking one's time to think is good, moving recklessly is an insult to the other player, for the reason Drunken Dragon said.

The only peole I've noticed get upset were n00bs who sucked, so I don't feel bad about thinking for a while. The only action I've seen people do that really annoys me is when they've attacked and moved, then spend nearly all the remaining time deciding facing. It seems like an obvious waste of time, and is one of the reasons I've learned not to play this game if I have less than 30 minutes before I have to be somewhere else.

Sometimes it's hard to decide where to face, for example if you're surrounded by enemies. You have to decide where you'll take the least damage, or where to put your enemy in the most compromising position to get at your back. It's a lot of work, at least as much as moving or attacking.

I'll get close to timing out if I'm doing a favor for my wife while playing. But hell, she's really there and the other guy is just a Turing Test anyway :).
