The same words are censored for all users, and censoring is done by a computer simply searching and replacing words. It is in no way 'intelligent'.

Also, note the little # in the upper right hand corner. Now when you want to point someone at a specific post, just copy that link addy, and they can go right yo specific posts instead of threads.

This is an upgrade?
1. It looks horrible.
2. It takes twice as long to load.
3. The cursor has a bad habit of vanishing.
4. The text color in the user cp blends in with parts of the background
5. Min length - wtf?
6. The new quote tags give less freedome. We can no longer say things like "Originally quoted by" or "Originally implied by"
7. My eyes are starting to sting. I'm going to look at something else for a while.

Easily fixed: changed the matte color on the GIF file when you save the web-optimized version.

Other things that suck:

Font size - this could be changed with CSS, but I am sure there is an even simpler way to do it in the VB admin panel. Do this first. On small monitors, it's hard to see pretty much anything without scrolling.

Colors: First of all, the colors suck. Ass. Second, what's with the reply page? Two shades of yellow? Awesome! Except now I am blinded to the outside world and I will need corrective surgery.

Overall feeling of hatred and the contempt everyone feels for this forum: So fix the first two, and this should follow. You know Bills, instead of rushing the upgrades you promised in order to look like such a great guy, you might have admitted they would take some time and taken as long as you needed. The old forums were in place for almost a year: there is no rush to change things. Do we really need centered posts? Didn't think so. For all this talk of working with a graphics company, there isn't much to show for it. Normally a graphic design firm would design something graphically, and not throw some tables and divs together with minimal CSS and call it a layout. No one likes this layout... I'm sure that you previewed the layout before committing to it, right? Any respectable web designer would do so; my point is, how could you think that this even looks good at all?

Obviously, this is not the default theme for VB. Put the default on, which would fix the color problem and most likely the (extremely annoying) font problem. Then, continue to work with your obviously lacking and unfinished graphic design team until the new format and layout looks presentable. I am not demanding these things, I am just telling you what is required to satiate the hordes of unhappy TAO players and supporters.

If you need any graphics help or CSS layout help, I am here and willing to put in at least as much time as it takes to fix these forums.

I know this is a far stretch, but I'll say it anyway.

I would be willing, right now, at 8:30PM EST, to stay on here, gain access to the VB admin panel, change the colors, install new themes, edit said themes, fix the colors, change the font, and any other such things and take as long as it needs to. That's how much I care. Normally I would give two shits and I'd leave until someone else fixed it. That's not the case. I have some design experience, and I would be more than willing to sit in these forums, start a sort of real time thread for the people who are on right now to let me know what looks good and what doesn't, and FIX THE FORUMS. Let me know if you want to take me up on this.

I can't speak for them, but APZ and xerent also have design experience.

Please consider this post, Bills. These aren't you forums, they are our forums.

I thought I rembered seeing an option to chage themes when the forum was still being worked on and I couldn't get in. THOSE didn't seem bad, from the little I got to see of them. Yellow and black looks good on a bumble bee and construction site. And that's with a different shade of yellow even. These colors are confusing. Not that I really need to say any of this, cause I'm sure you know what peoples feelings on this are now. :)

Aparently being the only one here who's worked with vB's, or even message boards, I'll try and answer your question.

When a board is upgraded, all settings are restored to default, and skins and hacks are almost always version specific, and no longer work. This accounts for the character limit and many other things. And yes Tama, you did see a theme change bar, but with the upgrade come the loss of all other themes.

The default vB skin is white backround with light blue menu bars, a huge contrast to the site's color scheme, but it would make a better temporary than this one.

And as to whats the reason for the upgrade, each version boasts sercurity upgrades, plus more options for admins and the like. I'm sur ethe Admin CP is a bit more manageable now, and, if you look around, there are probally a few more perks. Just deal with it until Bills can get it sorted out.

Oh, and with the cursor vanashing, thats just because the backgound is the same color, a fault with many skins. I'm sure it will be fixed.
