OK,
Some of you care about this topic and some of you don't, but I have a severe case of PEAD (Pre-Election Anxiety Disorder). I tossed and turned all last night (and when I did briefly fall asleep, I dreamt of voting) and haven't been able to focus at all today.
And I know I won't be able to get a good night's rest until this is all over. (Which will probably be in a month or two).
Anyway, the only thing worse that I can imagine is that I might acquire a bad case of PEDD (Post-Election Depressive Disorder).
No matter what happens, half the nation will be beside itself with glee and half will be depressed. Here's to hoping that the next four years will not be as divisive as the last four have been (whoever is elected).

I am totally ok with whatever the hell happens. At the end of the elcection, some white rich bastard will be president, and all his promises to help the middle and lower class citizens will be forgotten as he helps his buddies avoid paying income taxes.

All I want is a fair election, the reports of illegal voiding just disgust me.

I wish I could borrow your calm Jeffrey. I happen to think that one rich, white bastard would be far better for the country than the other (and vice-versa). Hell, I don't even have anything funny to say about this as I am convinced that the fate of this nation rests on this election. Anyway, I am trying to appeal to my better self that will continue to work toward a better America no matter who wins.

In Israel and France too, we get the result the next day. Why would it take more than that to tally up the votes? And who did you vote for, just our of curiosity?

it will take longer here because both sides will be suing the other to get some votes disqualified, and others allowed.
Especially since some of the voting machines here are retarded, and do more harm than good.

As I've said several times, I'm a Kerry supporter. However, in the last couple of days, I've found it a bit easier to tune the whole mess out. I went out and voted this morning ( not at all crowded, low stress ) and then I went and rented the first season of Arrested Development. We're going to watch the entire thing, laugh like idiots and turn the news on late tonight.
Don't get me wrong, I care very much about this election. Too much, perhaps. I'll just be relieved and ( hopefully ) glad when it's all over.

The election will be the determining factor of our government for the next 30 years or so. I don't know who all knows what's been going on but we're about to lose not only 3 Supreme Court justices but our current head of the Supreme Court, Rehnquist.

well unfortunately I'm not voting this year. It seems I never got off my lazy butt to do the proper forms after I moved districts. Oh well, I dont feel bad about the national elections because I support Kerry, and in Texas there was no way my vote was going to matter. The only thing I fret is about the local elections, we have a congressional seat up for election and I'm afraid this very shady lady is about to take it.

Northwind try doing something you like to forget about or if you don't have any ideas maybe see a doctor. Does anyone have any good ideas because I don't even think my idea was that great?

I have an idea. Stop existing.
And I hate both of them. Bush is an absolute idiot, and Kerry is a pinko.
The way I see it is whoever wins we lose.

You get that off of AVP by any chance?
Pfff...I could not care less who wins now...I think they are both "unqualified" at this point.

Thanks Leigh. However, I am mostly feeling haggard and run down today. I don't know what to do with myself. I struggle with fearing that today is one of the darkest days in American history, while on the other hand, I want to keep my hope that American will come through this crisis as it has others.
I keep trying to remind myself that Americans mostly want the same things - a decent environment, freedom from terrorism, better jobs and a living wage -- and the two parties just have different ways of trying to achieve these. I just worry that the next four years will see the implementation of more policies that are actually working in opposition to these goals (not necessarily purposely).
Ugh. It is official. I definately have come down with a bad case of Post-Election Depressive Disorder (PEDD). :(

yeah, cnn perturbed me, with 97% of the votes counted in florida, and Bush up by 300k, they wouldnt even risk calling it, but AS SOON as the polls in cally closed, they didnt hesitate to call it for kerry, BEFORE ANY OF THE VOTES WERE COUNTED... i know i know, the odds of bush winning cally were about as good as kerry getting texas, but honestly, wait until 50% of the votes have been counted to call any state
