Right.

So, after half a dozen emails of angry sounding people telling me to get the RGL goin' again, I figured I'd better step up and do it. Do it. DO it. Er...

So, since the last one had several flaws with it's rules, and it required a JUNK load of work to keep working, I propose something much more simple. It goes a little something like this:

20 people are in the league at any given point. This number could also be less. Definately not more. Once every 2 weeks, the bottom 5 people would be "kicked out" of the league, and 5 new players would replace them. That way the numbers would be changing often, but the best would still remain the best.

As far as getting into the league goes, it would merely be a first come first serve basis. A thread would be open, and pinned, at all times for people to sign up, and they would receive a notification email when they were entered into the league.

From this point - it will always be a Sunday when the new league starts, and last exactly a week, until the 2nd saturday... (Ie, from the 1st - a sunday - to the 14th - a saturday.) Every other sunday, when the new league starts, would be used by me to PM/Email the new contestants, organize results, and hopefully possibly get any possible prizes in order. I have no idea about that last bit, havent talked to Bills or anyone else about it.

As far as a system to determine who's winning in the league goes... Its quite simple. You can only play each person in the league once per two weeks. A win is worth 3 points. A draw is worth 2 points. A loss is worth 1 point. This gives incentive to at least PLAY games, which I know was a problem before. Because this way, if you dont play, no points are awarded. Obviously, person with the most points wins, least points loses.

To me, this seems rather simple, and very uncomplicated for the people running it. Everything could even be done through PMs, since Emails are such a pain sometimes.

Now, if I get support here for this, I'll do up a set of "official" rules for what I have above. If I have zip support, then I'll find an archived version of the old rules, and see where that goes. What do you lot think?

Do you even want the league?

put alot of thought into it i think it is a good idea..so your saying if someone loses that person that lost gets 1 point? so no matter what you get a point...if so thats a good idea because more ppl would play.

Woot! I say we get this thing going again. It was hella-fun before, and if we can get people to be more active and committed, it'll be even better. :) Good luck getting this organized though, it's gonna be hell and a half, and I think it's great you're taking the wheel. As soon as you get it up and running, make sure I'm on the list. :)

You really need mod powers to be able to run this thing effectively.

OH GOD NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I disagree. A single stickied thread is all you really need. First post tells rules, and current standings, while following posts are people in line to join. *shrugs*

And, care to elaborate Jeffery?

throwin my support in :)

my only though is does it have to be limited to 20 ppl?
there's a lot more golds now and it'd be nice to have an encouragement to get them going really active in this. Though i do realize it multiplies the work load as the player number increases

Thanks for the neg rep darr. And it means just that. making someone a mod just to run this is silly, since it can be more effectively handled using a ladder system to record and organise all leegue fights.

Haha - Ok Jeffery. Your thoughts have been taken into account. I agree that making someone a mod to run something like this is actually the most ridiculous thing ever. I was just confused about whether you meant that, or that you just really hated the RGL for some reason.

But ya - I was really just playin' around with the rep. system, having newly "discovered" it. I tried givin you positive to make up for it somewhere, but says to spread some more around, so whatever. Ill find some other place to do it.

Aaand yeah. More than 20 people is an idea, one that is very possible, but it brings up 2 main issues. One being a lot more work for whoever is running it, and the 2nd being more complicated for those involved. Ie - More people available to fight.

But its an idea. One which I will strongly consider.

Flaws? It was flawless, but it did require a lot of work. I also like your idea of points for losing.

But most of the work was just initially!

Now that we have the system down it runs well? Doesn't it?

I have a new idea for how to display scores though.

You're not only a jackass, you're stupid. This is nothing about the Rev-Legends tourny.
On top of learning how to write, add learning to read to the list.

Adrianna, you could have someone make you an excel program, and make displays with it.

I've already done that, along with macros to transform the data in excel into its postable form on the forums in txt format.

Well.
I already have a beautiful excel program for it.

Snarr made the program to display it how we did before.

Though, I could always just display the actual spreadsheet?

So, wait, are you guys interested in still running this thing? :D Cause that would be sickly good if you are. We ALL want you back. I was merely starting this up because nobody else was, and you guys were MIA.

The old way was fine, once its started, it was just too much work for a single person.

So, are you back?

(why is that smiley GREEN? Looks sick or something.)

Jeffery

Adrianna is back, and Snarr has been banned from leaving.

Aren't spreadsheets fun?

I love spreadsheets!

I can show you the one we have for the RGL if you want darrington?

And yes, I'm totally up for redoing this.
Do we know how many people would join? We really need some more dedication from the participants this time though!

i saw this as more of a "lets get it going again what do u think of this proposed setup" rather than a "who's in?" thread....maybe other ppl thought so too.
