I had a thought about raising the number of Greys that switch to Gold.

What if, on the very last day before a Server Wipe, all the Unit Drops were drops that are normaly only available to Golds.

My reasoning is this...
If a Grey gets a Gold Unit, they get to use it for a day, like a test drive.
If they really like it, they are more likely to get a Gold Account to save the unit.
If they're too cheap to get a Gold Account, they've only had the unit for a day.

So, I don't think this would over power the game, and Might get more people to sign up for Gold.

As long as the admin was willing to handle the last minute upgrades. I could see people trying to upgrade, and then still being deleted.

The other problem is simple.

There are NO gold drops on the grey servers. NONE. Not even to golds. SO the idea sounds fine, but can;t be done.

It's actually a great concept but Jeff's right. Gold drops would have to be available to everyone on the server. This mean that golds would get the drops, too. The grey members may only have them for a day but the gold members would keep them.
It would have to be a situation where the gold drops were only available in grey vs. grey games. If that's possible, it's probably a lot of work.
Still, the idea of temporary gold units, for greys, is a good one.
It has potential.

It's a good idea, in theory. But I don't think it's possible to have drops only available to greys. I mean, eventually people could have a bunch of beast riders / furgons, etc... Also, the gold upgrade process would probably take a little longer, as each person's account would have to be checked to make sure they don't receive a second gold unit (assuming they won one in the 'pre-sweep')
