Please somebody explain why TAO Gold Acccounts here cost $5 a month when the Legends server TAO costs 1 payment of $10 to keep it forever?!?!?!?

5$ a month here . A whole year is $60 american.
There it's $10 american and that covers that year, and more to come.
hmm.... Legends is looking kinda nice.

I was just comparing a years cost between the servers.
From what i read, Legends is $10 for life.

And Ive only seen 2 posts (both put up today) that brought the membership price of legends into debate.

I'm not about to up and leave but im sure many members are now going to consider leaving. Is it not possible to explain why the legends server is kept seperate from the others? As to why we arnt granted the same benifits as the players on that server?

Because it is not part of the FPS server line up.

If you want to play on the developers server then you should. What we offer a stable game play environment.

Seed tests things on his servers before we put them here, Seeds server is run by him.

Ours are run in cunjunction with him.

It's like playing UO (OSI) and then playing UO on a personal server and then asking OSI why you can't play on both servers....just because you pay to play on one....

I'm confused as to how Seed's developer server is different. Is it buggy?

He simply tests things with his server. Say he implements a new unit that is faulty. Its going to affect everyone as being faulty. Maybe instead of hitting for 10 damage it hits for 100. Or maybe instead of having 50 health it has 100 health.

Bills server brings out units after seeds has tested them. Once made sure they are operating correctly Bill will release them. So basically you are paying for steady servers, units, and all around a great community going with Bill.

Of course correct me if I'm wrong?

and these servers have alot more players, so you dont usaly have to wait so long to play, so it's more fun. seeds server is sorta test server, but (or so i've heard) he also comes to these forums and reads through ever once and awhile (most probaly the create a-unit section) as the lengends server doesn't have as many members so less ideas, and there isn't alot of people there posting new ides for monsters.

Seeds servers are very stable, but they still are a place he tests things on.

So, in essense, your $10 fee is a Beta Fee, to get in on the testing of new units and whatnot.

While I agree that advance knowledge of new units can be a bonus, I don't play this game for units. If I wanted more units, I'd play Final Fantasy Tactics. I play this game because, to me, it feels like chess - and that's amazingly appealing.

Gold here is worth more to me, because I value having a wide range of opponents and skill levels more than the (untested) units on Legends. I also like the community aspect of this, and the potential for Clan warfare and tournaments and everything of that sort. Here, I'm playing essentially a finished product. There, I'm a beta tester. That's great for many people, just not for me.

I was wondering about the Legends server, and now I know. It is still worth it, I am proud to support it, because I want TAO to be as famous and last as long as chess.

...although Bills seems a little cranky about the whole thing; never mind that, if we keep paying him he will be able to afford charm school. :D

How's this for a reason.
On Seed's site, there is one server. That's it.
Here, there are three servers, and another on the way.

I imagine that within a couple days, Seed's site will be filled to excess, now that the word is out. Do you think Seed's will keep adding servers to keep everybody happy, just for a test site? The $10 for a perminent account won't do Seed much good in a couple months, if the server is already full.

This site will keep adding servers, as long as there is need, and the gold accounts to pay for them.

Also, the units that work on Seed's site will eventually arrive here.

Yeah, it's kinda like taxes: no one wants to pay for them, they try and evade it ad they hate them, but without taxes America would slowly crumble into dust. We hold up the servers. Seed can only afford to hold up one with his meager taxes.
