Xerent wants an iPod for christmas, so being the good girlfriend I am, I'm trying to get him one. Only thing is, they're slightly out of my price range. However, I did see this swanky deal to get a free iPod by signing up for an online offer and then referring 10 people to do the same.

So, here is what I'm requesting from you people who would be so generous to help me out. Click on my little referral link LINK REMOVED join and sign up for one of those online offers. If you want to get your own iPod, then refer 10 people using your own referral link. The retail value for this 40GB iPod is $499... but through this offer, you can get one for $0 to $50 or so depending on what offer you choose.

I probably won't be able to get this by christmas (though it'd be nice)... but I'd really like to get it by his b-day in February.

For the people who sign up using my referral link, I'd be happy to make some art as a gift in return. ^^

PM me to get the link if you want to help

How does this thing work exactly?
What sort of online offer do you need to sign up for?

I can't do it since I don't live in the USA.
I need a friend who will do it for me!
Is the idea that you need to pay for something?

It doesn't work sadly. There is a chance, but 1 out of 50. Up at my boarding school a whole bunch of us tried this and not one of us has recieved an iPod yet!

It all depends on what offer you choose. If you're in college, you can sign up for a mastercard. If you're approved, then you can use that for your online offer. It doesn't cost anything and you never have to use it.

I signed up for you. My gift instead of art would be to be invited for Tactics: Genesis' beta test.

Erik has been programming like a beast. We are on version0.8. V1 will be the beta me thinks.

Why was the link removed?

If it was because a mod thinks it's a scam, it's not. This site has actually been verified to be legimate. They actually send out freee ipods, the only problem is, they sell the email addresses they get, and are way behind in shipping them out.

midnight walker, it's basically a clever pyramid scam.

Midnight Walker

I realise what it is, but pyramid scams are illeagle. This isn't, beacuse no money is envolved. It's a perfectly legimate business.

Xerent was going to erase this thread once I got enough people >.> but fine... make it useless. It is a legitimate offer and lots of people have gotten iPods from it.

Aro, why would you do that? I don't care if my email is spammed, because I have a nice spam box for all of that to go through. I am not regretting that I signed up at all.

That site kinda works, sometimes, for a few people.

Basically, they do give away a few iPods to some people, but no where near the ammount of people that actually qualify for it.
And i don;t trust giving bank information (you need to for the AOL offer) to anybody.

Nah, it's better this way... It was technically against the terms of service, and should not have existed in the first place, at least not on the forums. If you want to participate, please do so via PM.

It lists people by their email addys, so I don't know for sure ^^; did you sign up for an offer? if not, then it won't count

Laifierr
11-21-2004, 12:32 PM
It looks like I have nine people now who joined up through my referral. If they all filled out valid offers, then that means I just need one more. ^_^

And the list of people isn't in relation to who is beta testing Genesis. ^^; It's those who are helping me get an iPod for Xerent

If you don't have a good spam blocker you can always make a free email account. www.fadmail.com is a good one. A lot of schools don't have it firewalled ;)

Laifierr

Now that hotmail increased their size to 250MB, I don't care that much about spam. I've got my account set to exclusive, anyway ^_^

Good old hotmail, eh? :)

Just when I was nearing my 2MB limit too :)

Laifierr

There once was a netscape/IE battle on which browser was the best... now it's Yahoo/Hotmail on who will give the most space. Yahoo = 100MB and Hotmail = 250MB.

lostandconfused
11-21-2004, 05:48 PM
I don't see how one person needs all that space anyway. After about 4 months of no deleted emails, I am still only using 1% of my yahoo mail account.

Laifierr
11-21-2004, 05:52 PM
Well, now I don't have to worry about spam if I go on vacations like I did before. And if I forget to check my email for a couple days I won't have to worry about that either. I'm the type of person who would essentially have to check my email about 5 or 6 times a day just so the spam wouldn't take over. ^^;

Which offer should I do? I don't have a credit card and I will not give out any bank account info.

If you're in college, you can try signing up for the credit card for college students
