This be me. I'd be level 70 by now, but 3 months ago I spilled pop on the laptop that had WoW on hit, and lucky me, it completely ruined my keyboard. But god forbid it be easy enough to just use a wireless keyboard, if I turn on my laptop, the keyboard freaks out and doesn't let you do anything. So it's getting fixed right now, and the computer I'm on now isn't "good enough" for Wow apparently. Anyways, this is me -
http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/5281/aohjv5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
It says last updated december 27th, that's when I spilled pop on it. =/
BTW, I don't seem to have luck with computers/games.
I bought the Wii for practically one reason - SSBB, I kept waiting for it to come out, and it kept on getting pushed back, then, finally they announced it WOULD come out on March 9th, then, on March 7th, an ex-friend of mine(who dropped out of highschool) broke into my house while I was at school and stole my Wii. It was literally two days before SSBB came out, I was so pissed.

You really suck at blocking out your char name, angleofhell on the Aerie Peak server. If you want to stop people from knowing your char name and where you play, don't give the link to your char profile and all your guild mates in it.

If you noticed, I use swords now, I used daggers when I was a sub rogue. =P
EDIT: My off hand weapon is a dagger, but I only use it over a sword because it gives me +18 attack power, +9 agility, and +14 stamina.
It also does about 50 dps, for a dagger, it's pretty good.

Look, go respec, put 5 in lethality or whatever its called, forgot... the one in assassination for 5% crit, then 5 in MoD in sub. The rest in combat and dont choose any sort of wep spec. That's the best way to level as a rogue.
Once 70, spec combat swords and get the noskill pvp swords... good starter for any rogue who doesn't raid/starting raids.
Just my 2 cents, ignore me if you want though ;)

Hmm, this may sound noobish, especially for a lvl 61 but how in hell does a rogue beat a lock? I could beat about anything but a lock. I mean, this is a standfard fight for me and a lock -
I'm combat btw so
I creep up and use cheap shot, quickly use adrenaline rush, blade furry, and evasion(the keys for me are right next to each other, so I use them in every fight), then I use sinister strike, and IF I'm lucky, I'll get a nicely timed kick on the lock so he can't use fear, but then he uses deathcoil, then I use insignia of the alliance to cancel deathcoil, and I can get back in time to do some more damage, but not enough to kill the lock, then he uses fear again, and by the time I can get back to him, I'm about dead.

If the lock is very well geared and you aren't, that will play a part.
You need to get the jump on him for sure. Do as much damage as possible and very quickly, and keep him stunned for as long as possible.
When he casts fear or any other type of shadow spell, use kick then, and he wont have much to cast for at least a few seconds.
IPlayWoW

1 word. Stunlock. Stay behind the lock while doing this too for backstabs (if you're a dagger nub anyway).
And save the silences for exactly the right time.
Yes, it is very hard for any melee, except ret pallys, to beat a lock. So yeah, all it takes is a little practice. Resilience plays a big part in end game pvp too ;)

IPlayWoW
04-04-2008, 03:20 PM
Yeah well, we may have plate AND shields, not to mention bubble but at the same time, we are very easily killable for casters. Melee we just laugh at, but a mage who knows how to use CS and has high damage, they screw us over. Then locks who know how to balance fears with max time on them so that DR doesn't come into play hurt aswell. Also, if they hit us with UA in between dots, we are screwed cos if we cleanse UA by accident, we take 1500+ damage and get 4 sec silence. Kinda bad. But it's the same with all high armor classes, no defence vs casters. Shadow priests I won't even mention with their cheap ass mass dispel on divine shield.

So basically, to beat a lock just about everything has to be perfectly timed, and it has to go right.
I think Locks need to be nerfed. =/
Or at least give a rogue a chance, I mean, unless you're prepared, you just stand no chance.
And if any of you moves are on cooldown, you're screwed.

If you are losing to a lock that much, I think it's more than likely something wrong with the player, not the class, sorry.
Most locks aren't THAT good where they will be able to beat you all the time like that, especially when the majority of the time you should be getting them jump on them.

Yeah, you get the jump on them, and as soon as they get the chance, deathcoil and fear.
If you don't have insignia of the alliance, your chances of winning are very very slim, and even with them they're small.
Anyways, I was just looking to see if there was any more sure way of fighting locks. Everything else I can beat.
The only other class that even remotely gives me problems is shamans, and that's mostly just in duels when they have the chance to set up and prepare.

Btw, about ret pallys, you don't want a weapon faster than 3.60. Go for armor ignore over haste. Though with the new 2.4 loot, and ret pallys, it's not very easy to avoid high +haste gear seeing as the perfect ret gear is dps warrior gear.

Well, I know what I'd choose being a raiding retadin myself.
Go for master axesmith for the bloodmoon.
Also having blazefury for tanking as a pally is a bad idea. You'd want a caster wep. The best one pre BT/MH for a tankadin is the Amani Punisher from ZA and smack that up with +40 spell damage. Every prot pally wants at least 500 spell dmg by BT/MH. If you can't get the Amani Punisher, you ought to get exalted with Thrallmar (as I know you're a belf) for the Stormcaller. Or, buy Crystalforged Sword from AH. That's probably the best tankadin wep before Amani Punisher. High stam, spell hit and spell dmg with a lil bit of intellect on it.
Tankadins need more stats than prot wars. Spell damage, spell hit, hp, defense, block and dodge. Any parry bonuses are just that, a bonus. But far from mandatory. Any mp5 you can get your hands on is also good.

As far as spelldmg, I knew I was right. I had a few guildies saying that +spell/hit was pointless.

EDIT: OH and Ignition, yeah you might want extra primal mights for some crafted epic stuff you may get patterns for that are non 375 skill requirement as they usually require mights if it's a melee dps item. First off, what the hell is a "lifer"? Second of all, ill say to anyone who spends that much time on a video game, be it WoW or Cod on xbox, has no life. Yes i agree WoW is fun, its my main source of entrainment. But i have a job, which requires me not to be playing. Plus i occasionally enjoy spending time with friends and hell, even going on vacation every weekend.
Im not saying anyone here doesn't have a life, that was never my intention. I was making fun of ignition ( kyle ) because he happens to be a food friend of mine. But kyle also doesn't have a job. Hes a college student who can spend at least a few hours on WoW a day. Hints why i feel he has no life. ( jokingly )

Sad part is when either A: They try to gank me in neutral cities or B: After killing me and trying to camp me, they position themselves in terribad places to kill me again; for example, I was headed north through a choke point in the road, and rather than standing to the north of the point, they stood south.

Generally for some, never for others. Just depends on the skill of user with the technique.
Any tankadin leveling can attest to the multimob fighting style, and the lack of need for resting. You can avoid drinking entirely if you simply don't spam consecrate and properly use your seals. Just finding that fine point of optimum efficiency on damage vs mana use.

Either way, the point I was trying to put across is that the highest dps specc for end game raiding as a lock is destro/demo. Again on the subject of locks. I believe all of ours are affi with around 20% crit, I'd have to look to know. We just don't use desto or demo in raiding due to their lack of dps compared to affi. Honestly, it depends on the fight. If both have the opportunity to sit back and cast away, no movement, destruction will deal more damage. However, affliction, with its several instants and quick cast spells can get off more spells on the run.

Hit 60 on my lock ... Going to have to go for the Dreadsteed now soon. Probably wont be much fun.
What level do you all usually head to Zangarmarsh though? I guess I could now since it's listed as 60-64 on Wowhead, or should I finish quests in Hellfire and wait until 61, 62?
I helped a guildie with dreadstead quest. It can be a real pain. Took several attempts, even with two 70s with us.

One bad part about expansions is that the 70 gear you spent so much time on isnt the best anymore. It doesn't bother me. I can't wait until the new expansion! Death Knight. :)
Actually, it's meant to be said, unless you're T6 geared or better, you won't have a gear advantage over a level 80 in full level 80 blues. Therefore those just starting the earlier 25 mans get screwed over unless their guild really hauls ass to T6 raids.
It's just seemingly pointless to even bother starting karazhan again at this stage as the expansion is said to release by oct 2008, though no date guarantees.
Oh and fyi, Death Knight is overrated :)

My bet is a Nov 23'rd release, to mark the anniversary of the game, though anytime from mid Oct to Nov follows the 14-15 month trend of their announcement to release timeline they've held to in the past.

Ok i have a warrior and a priest on my 2v2 team.. and im a BM hunter. Warrior and priest are the same person, and warrior has shittish gear so we do 3 games. I'm confused on what spec my prirest partner should be though, because he has 4/5 s3 shadow set but we have one more games when he was using a healer set. Maybe we were just unlucky when we lost and he was shadow, any thoughts?

You'll continue to reliably lose as you progress up the rankings with a shadow priest, they're simply not effective in 2v2 at this time, by and large (especially when teamed with other dps).

Kael'thas is already very hard for the gear level. Obviously it's easier for T6 guilds, but for those just starting the KT fight from scratch it's extremely hard to get right. Fyi, on most PRs, KT is bugged and you can't even attack him or his adds.
As for kara gear being a "s$%#house" that may be true once you're passed karazhan, but I'll have you know, until late SSC/TK it's very hard to get a decent upgrade. Unless it's tier gear of course.

On every private servers all the raid bosses are bugged.
The best that anyone who codes the scripting for them can do is "approximate" the fight, they can never fully recreate it. Complicated fights like Kael will never be up to par because of the sheer effort that went into creating it...it's just not feasible in any sort of acceptable time frame to recreate that with a small private group's resources.
So the end result is a sort of half-boss for all the raid bosses. The only adjustable factor is the damage and health outputs for the bosses on the private scripts, so bosses are usually either way too easy or too difficult.

Eh, I played fairly extensively on a few servers.
Most of them use a standard script and emulation system that's available, but a few advertise doing their own work and instance scripts. Even on servers that claim flawless recreation, it's just a sad imitation.
Yet to see any server that had an actual recreation of raid encounters (script wise), and I doubt it can be done privately.
As a side not, futher research into the legality (as well as comments made by Blizz CM's), have convinced me that private server setups are completely illegal as defined by copyright law. I know I claimed otherwise, but have been educated on the subject and am willing to correct myself here. Not sure why their existence is tolerated by Blizz.
Though I still think the private setups can provide a nice break from the monotony to the retail game.

I've been playing on private servers since my sub ran out a week ago. They'll make you want to put a bullet in your head, with all the retards on them. This one has unscripted instances, so 90% of runs are PuGs, 50% of which fail before the first boss, 10% of which the leader MLs everything, and the other 40% all your loot get ninja'd by noobs.
Megabyte

If you want to find some decent private server setups, I can recommend some of the more stand-up ones based on what you're looking for in the game.
It's an imitation of copyrighted software, in other words stolen, how can that not be illegal?
The server-side software is licensed (but don't know to whom the license is for) and doesn't use a single line of the retail server code.
As far as I can tell, the legality issue is simply intellectual rights on the game itself, not the software in use. However, it is clearly stated on the agreement we all click when play the game that we will only use official Blizzard servers. So anyone playing on the private realms is technically in violation, though I doubt that could ever be enforced for the average user.
I suspect that it's simply not worth Blizz's attention to hassle these servers, yet, but that's just what I think is the most likely reason and don't have a clue as to the actuality of it. Though, I also suspect that there are +100k users playing on private setups, worldwide, so take what you will from that. Purely speculation on my part, though. Too hard to track reliable numbers from all the servers, or even to find them all, with my limited time and resources.

I prefer to focus on leveling than the most efficient strategy for rep building, since heroics don't take revered rep anymore. 62 is ideal for starting in Zang, whereas Terrok is a bit rougher at that level.
