Get the best gear you can from norm dungeons and 5 man quests, then hit up some of the heroics. Kara is about as tough, numbers wise, as heroics but it's tougher bosses and coordination make it more challenging going in. You'll find most of the dungeon sets drop in both normal and heroic instances, anyways, and those are typically the most ideal for starting kara.

Key points for a guild entering kara is to get a pair of tanks and healers up to par. DPS can lag on an item or two, if absolutely necessary, but a tank that can't hack it or a healer that can't keep up means you won't be going anywhere.

As far as getting honor is concerned ... Would AV give the most, or is it all about how many HK's you get?

I'm sitting at around 20K honor so I guess I'll need about 80K to get most of the stuff I'll need.

20k suits two peices if you have marks aswell and yeah you'd more than likely get the most honor from AV.

But you shouldn't get the full set, as a spell caster you'd find shit load better stuff in PvE HCs than nabby PVP gear.

I mean come on, you're not a simple rogue running round in full S1 (this case S2 now) who roams Kara in it. Because it's funny how shit all damage they do.

AV is most honor, especially if you win. And S1 gear does like no damage in PVE. But funny thing is there is a lock in our guild that is like 4th in damage when he is in his pvp gear (full vengful/vindactors/battlesmasters etc.), and first in his pve gear. He does insane damage especially when im there. Our tank has macros with his name on them "[name] stop dps" Im currently tied for like 5 or 6th in dps when we do 25mans, but i still have a bunch of major upgrades to get.

Spirit id personally be doing H's rather then bgs, and get your rep up with shat sun, for necklace, and at revered you can get a sword that will work till you get dagger from prince, (unless you plan on buying those overpriced epic daggers/swords that suck)

Edit: H's will give you items that drop, and badges, Get the sword from shat sun, and 25 badge offhand (+24 stam, and +51 shadow damage.) With +40 spell damage on your weapon thats little over 200 spell dmage on ur weapons, pretty good without doing kara yet. And there are of course many other badges things you need, like the trinket.

Badge gear ftw. I want the 150 Badge Drood staff but it'll take ages to get. So I'm just going for like Belt of natural Power (Need Vortex from badges) and these nice wrist gear for 35 badges.

There's one thing I hate about my guild though, we've got right shortage of tanks (Myself is one and this German guy whos a GM of an ally guild whos done BT/MH). And the other fag thing is people DON'T read the guides on the bosses. So, Aran would've been downed first go but we lost a Mage and also a healer when he was on 70% so it messed up.

wow didn't know those were the mats for em. motes of shadow= in hellfire penninsula by the voidwalker type things. Motes of water hm the mobs in the lake in terrokar/next to shatt drop a lot, dont know about fire. Yeah. i put together a "shopping list" of things I'll be going for in the future when I was flying last night.

I farmed the motes of shadow from voidspawns in nagrand. Was planning on farming the motes of fire from blades edge or throne of kil'jaeden in hellfire. Motes of water from yes, the lake next to shattrath. or maybe from the things in skettis.

Might stop by throne of the elements in nagrand eventually to and check out what's there and how heavily farmed it is. I know there is quite a few different elementals up there.

elemental plateau = best drop rate for motes of fire/wind/water, always best choice unless it's camped up

Check the water elementals there as well, as most people often don't bother camping them, but the drop rate is much better than the fish in the terrok lake.

Get your shadoweave set, get pvp gloves, and helm/pants (try to get spellstrike set instead of these), and get belt of blasting. I currently need 13 primal fire for my belt of blasting, i got the 2 nether vortex for 600g =) great deal for me.

But the 2 hour av games where people kill all reinforcements instead of van don't help anything other than gaining av rep.

Oh and... can anyone explain the stormpike archers to me? Starting to piss me off..

I'll run on the bridge, between 3 people (about the middle) and behind them some, and I'm the one who ends up getting shot ..

We tried ssc last night in my guild. We wiped on first mob.... Cause we thought hate-screamers could be sheeped, but they cant, and one went around 1-shotting most clothies, and healers. But after that we did pretty good, we skipped hydross cause lurker is supposed to be easier or something, so we cleared the platforms around lurker and then jumped to the spot, and lurker then kicked our asses. But i love that you can still dps him when ur in water lol. And is it true that ranged dps cant aggro the boss? Or do we just aggro the adds when they come? Oh and we had an epic druid staff drop, sadly our druid tank wasnt on at the time so he didnt do ssc, and some druid got it for off-spec. lol

I've only done hydross in ssc, we wiped on him to :P . I think TK is much easier since VR is simple and solarian is also pretty damn easy. haven't done lurker but most guilds do start there. Make sure your guild looks up the fights on youtube or something to know what's going on instead of just reading it, that always helps. gl freddy

On my resto shammy, I get upwards of 200+ kills on turtles, resulting in 1k+ honour just from kills per match (Go chain Heal spam!). I get an extra, decent sized amount of honour from just the match.

Yeah I can definitely agree it does seem pretty op and all bunched together compared to the horde side.

Turtles usually laster an hour for my battlegroup. so I hate having them as long as each game still gives between 300-400 honor.
And I don't think I've gotten 1k honor from a turt either... but we've only had like 5 so I don't know.

It honestly makes no difference on the t6, even in just the scheme of WoW'nes. Simple cosmetic appearance, and at this point the original prestige and significance of it is sorta lost.

T4 will accomplish the same thing, in practicality. Just make sure you pick up some of the S2 pvp stuff.

I started thinking about the death knight role in tanking. I heard blizz plans to keep DK's fairly balanced, but that leads me to this.

Warriors are your standard tank.
Paladins are your best AoE tank.
Druids have epic mitigation when the boss can't crush, and teh best TPS (Or so I hear)

Now, seeing as death knights won't be able to achieve crush immunity with a 2h, I'm thinking that they're going to edge in on druid territory.

I'm thinking druids are going to outdo them in mitigation or blizz will have to find a new niche for feral druid tanks.
It seems more likely that DK's will be able to out TPS them, considering they get the benefits of actually USING their weapon for more DPS, parry hasting, and other high threat gen abilities.

I thought the line of "I heard blizz is going to make the DK's balanced" was particularly funny, though. As opposed to what :p They're so regimentally stuck on a rock-paper-scissor style balance and grinding that it's what kills it eventually for most players.

Not really, I think you're reading too much into existing gameplay.

Seemingly small changes, like the introduction of resiliance, dramatically alter the gameplay for tanks (and other classes). The basic truth is you can't predict the dynamics that the new class will bring to the table until it's there. Especially as there's no precedent for a new class in WoW (more the pity).

I have a 22 lvl druid (but have a 62 dranei priest as a main) and i love going stealth....and ganking or pop out and heal an ally....i must twink him for level 29 though.

First off don't use green gems, on epics at least, Red sockets - +9 spell damage, or 12 if epic. Yellow - + spell damage and + hit rating (if not capped) other wise +spell damage, and spell haste, Since your a lock blue sockets - +spell damage, and + stamina
Enchants get you a shitload of +Damage..40 to weap 20 to gloves 35 to legs, uhh 15 to bracers 22 to helm i think you can get something for shoulders, 12 to each ring. plus gems and you should be pretty good
Also get Vitality or +12 stamina to boots, I'd go stamina for you since your a lock, and get +20 spell pentration on cape.


Also for raiding make sure you got Superior Wizard Oil, and buff food, both pretty in expensive, but help a lot, and if your going to use pots, flask of pure death are best but most expensive, you can use Elixer of Major Shadow Power, and Elizer of Draneic Wisdom, but these dont last through death, and only last an hour.

So I started playing this game 2 weeks ago and wow...it's the best game I've ever played online. Awesome stuff. But, yeah...I'm still new to it and I have a lot to learn. My character's name is Gearoid and I play on Anvilmar. I'm an undead warrior. I must admit I don't like being a warrior. It sucks. Rogue or others are better, but whatever, I'll try to make the best out of it and see how it goes. I'm currently level 21 and of course, I will keep going until I get 70. :p

Got some nice stuff outta of them. I love questing and doing dungeons with a bunch of players. I have yet to do raid. Raiding consists of like 20+ people? The most players I've played with was 5-6. Not very much. Any advices would be nice if you fellas have any. Some of the netjakkers have been giving me tons of advices and they have been helpful.

So I started playing this game 2 weeks ago and wow...it's the best game I've ever played online. Awesome stuff. But, yeah...I'm still new to it and I have a lot to learn. Raids are for high levels, don't worry about them until 70. You do them with your guildies (Unless you're liek puggin KZ, lulz)

Raids are mainly for 60-70, (60 for pre BC raids), but you can raid alliance towns, but I wouldn't do that till your at least 40 or so, and can kill a guard lol.

Tank take aggro in SFK? It's SFK lol..

I've only do that inst with a proper tank once and that was my irl mate. Other times it's been like Shaman or a Rogue, just because it's that easy.

1. Shadow ROCKS for leveling. My mana is at 100% going into every battle and I never drink.

Tried Heroic slave pens last night with some people for my guild, not the best geared.
We wiped on the first 3 npc in there. >.<

So we had to improvise, and I ended up kiting around mobs while they focused on others. Used eye of kilrogg to pull a few people so we could run past without having to fight them.
Didn't have a paly who was geared to be a main tank, so on Mennu the betrayer I ended up drain tanking him while the shaman and shadow priest teamed up to heal me, other lock added some dps and the pally killed his totems.
Stopped after mennu though since it was 3am and the repair bill wouldn't be worth the effort to continue.
Overall it was fun though, trying to come up with different strategies to get through things. :p

Other than needing to respec, any recommendations for items I should go after for starting kara? (Other than frosen shadoweave, spellstrike, battlecast, etc, and pvp things. I'm looking to get advice for things to get from dungeons). One of the raid officers wants us up to around 700-800 unbuffed damage.
I can get 721 unbuffed, ungemmed, unenchanted damage in almost all pvp things. But that would require 115K more honor, 20 WSG marks, 40 AB marks, 50 AV marks, and 60 EOTS marks, and I'm pretty tired of farming honor.
Advice for what to replace green items with especially.

Respec: 0 21 40 (Demonic Sacrifice Desto).

Regem: You use white vendor gems, seriously, bad, very bad. Get some new gems, preferably +spell dmg +spell crit (orange) and +spell hit and +spell damage (also orange). Don't gem for bonuses, it's pointless and you usually gimp yourself by doing it. Only do it if you can still give yourself what you need and get the bonus just cos you can.

Rep farm: Get Sha'tar revered ASAP. You can then get the Glyph of Power (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=29191). Also try to get SSO and Scryers exalted as quick as possible too. The caster neck is VERY nice, as is the proc. Plus the shoulder enchant from Scryers.

Enchants: Merciless set is viable til ZA and 25 mans, though PvE gear is a lot better. What I'd say is fully enchant for raiding (spell damage, spell hit etc). Also the leg patch would be good to get. Once you pick up some PvE gear you can start replacing then enchant your Merciless gear for PvP.

Gear: Farm badges and heroics as good as you can really. It's a good way to pick up gear. Also the 2.4 badge gear is pretty damn good, even if it is welfare epics.

Just regemming and fully enchanting yourself can put you upto about 800 dmg unbuffed even with those greens of yours :p

they're doable. i've been in PUG Heroics where most were wearing greens and we cleared. a lot of people go in pvp gear as well, so you should be good.

But yeah, I'd say get all out spell damage/crit gear then go for desto.
And yes, you're fine for heroics, all of them, except maybe heroic magisters, unless you get some full PvE epic people, then you'll be fine.

1141 +healing should not be allowed in heroics.

He also dipped out on Healing grace, put points into Imp. GW, and didn't max out Tidal Focus.

Was going to do it again today but the T6 pally left the group cuz the shaman didn't kill the healing totem, so group fell apart. (None of the same people from the group I posted last night)
Ended up doing heroic MGT. Priestess was the only one who gave us any trouble.

Was doing kara with the guild just now ... But, the computer officially hit the shits.
Ended up getting bad lag. Don't know why since it wasn't near that bad in AV even.
Took like 10 minutes to log in, then like 5 minutes later I'd see myself in kara, then the screen stays the same for another 5 minutes and the next screen I see is the one saying I'm disconnected. :(

Kara can have ridiculous lag sometimes due to it having 10 people taking on and AoE'ing multiple mobs in a confined space, can make a lot of people lag. I'd suggest just lowering your spell detail to half and a few other of your gfx options.

I'm not exactly sure how old this is, but I'd say only maybe 3 years, about. Not over 5, no less than 2. So I'm fairly certain it's around 3.9 or so, almost 4. (One of the dates on it says 8/25/2004)
We've had 1 hard drive fail on this already but other than that it works well.

Edit: I think it's a RADEON X300 Series, by ATI. But directions to find out which one, or what info about it you're looking for would still be helpful.

It should be fine, you might want to turn settings down a bit if it's that bad, but most of them aren't really used, like ground stuff.

Shattrath and Orgrimmar I always get lag at, unless in the less populated places.

Used to be pretty high but I guess a lot of people took the free transfer.
I'd just be happy if I can do raids without tons of trouble, and to at least be able to walk around in Shatt without having to wait 5 minutes after I get there to move, then lagging every other second.

I don't know if my computer is getting suckier or it's a server thing or what, but I'm getting more and more lag in places outside org and shat. Some guildies with 2gig said he had to disable all addons cuz he was getting it as well.

I wouldn't think World of Warcraft would require a whole lot of RAM / graphical power.

My suggestion to you if you'd like to run it wonderfully is to:

* Disk defragment -- Do this over a night and then see how smoothly it plays the next day, sometimes it may help quite a bit.

* DDR RAM -- Go out and get some good RAM, perhaps up to 2gigs. This generally helps mostly with the more complex things going on at one time. (Example: You're in a 40 man raid, and with more RAM, you may not lag as much.)

* A better graphics card -- This is really what's going to help you the most, more so than RAM or defragmentation.

Above is Radeon's site for purchasing more recent graphics cards. It really depends on what you're hoping to do, Spirit. Should you choose to buy a new graphics card, it'll CERTAINLY help your playability. (Your card is quite old from what I've researched, only being able to handle up to DirectX 9.0.) If you're willing you put down the money, it's something you'll be able to use for quite some time. (Whether you choose to upgrade your computer or switch to a more graphically inclined game than World of Warcraft. Note: you will want to do a bit of research before switching cards due to some graphics cards either being a.) too big for your case b.) not compatible with your current motherboard c.) require a better power supply than you currently own.)

Your CPU and RAM don't seem inadequate at the time, so yes, what I would recommend is a graphics card above all else if you're looking for smoother play. How old is that card, might I ask?

Another thing to keep in mind is your internet service. Are you getting packet loss from a.) server side or b.) your side. This could greatly affect how your gameplay will go. Perhaps there is construction down the road and as of late your connection has been a bit unstable, thus, you're starting to notice the ping spiking a bit more.

You had to open gates for the other 2 (Twins and M'uru), if you could not access those 2, you can't get to KJ. Whereas if you could, you would be able to get to KJ on the day of opening.

Yeah. RAM doesn't cost too much anyway does it, depending on what kind you need? 512MB could be maybe $50.00? Graphics cards can run over $200.00 I think.

For the love of all that is techno geeky, don't just go out and buy RAM. I get tired of asshats coming into my store in the evenings and complaining how the RAM "just doesn't work" for them.

Find out what brands and types are most compatible, THEN go buy it. Duo's smart to say outright to research your parts.

Comp upgrades do not work like lego's, you can't just connect the ports and call it good. Gotta put some thought to it.



All that aside, if your graphics card is crapping out and you need to upgrade it and the ram, it's worth looking into an entirely new machine anyways.

I have been really really happy with my setup. I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 (17", High Def, NVIDIA 8600 video card, 2g RAM, 160g Hard Drive Space). I also have a 21" Vizio High Def screen. I have started Dual Monitoring with them and i LOVE it. I have WoW on my laptop screen and Vent, Firefox, Itunes, etc on my vizio screen. Amazing.

Anyway, i wanted to bring up the point of mages. I have been mage for a very long time and mage has always been my main class. IMHO, mages are a broken class right now. We cannot top the damage meters, our CC is getting more and more nerfed in PvP. Really the only good a mage is, is a vending machine and transportation (Biscuits and ports). The mage raid buff isnt even that usefull (AI). What do you guys think?

Warlock AoE is better. Nowhere near as fun though. Seriously, SoC spam is lame. I AoE grinded my mage from 20-40 just cause it's fun.

Yes, I'm looking forward to more dynamic rotations for Dps'ing and Tanking, tanking especially. If most of the Warrior prot talents go live, I'll probably go back to tanking. It'd be nice if they figured out a way to do the same for healing, though putting a CD on CH and CoH is a good start.

I haven't really looked at anything but the Shaman's, but I'm not so sure about the Shaman end tier (what is it, like, 9?), it's effective at breaking some CC, but fear never seems to break from damage anyway and a lot of others just can't. It isn't really clear if the additional two can be enemy targets or not, but I'd like it if it was. I'm also glad for the new dispel. Also, elemental Shaman are Pikachu now. USE THUNDER!

Unlocked my Ogrila quests and other Skyguard quests in BEM.
The bombing to bomb the things in the Forge Camps is actually pretty tough.
A strategy that seems to work for me is fly somewhat high up, then dive down at a small angle, almost straight down with the bombs ready. Click on the bomb area when it's green, and then fly right back up strafing in one direction as well. Good part is that you don't need to wait for the cast time to finish before you can move.

I tried that and it never worked for me. Bombs get shot at me from at least in front and behind, sometimes the sides, and in the end I'll usually get hit eventually.
Maybe it works on the 280% mount but not my 60%.

If you could drop the bombs from higher up I think it would work on a 60% but I couldn't drop them unless I was close to the ground, so the bombs hit me pretty quick.

I also don't get how it would be even theoretically possible to reflect an attack back at your attacker in melee. Spell Reflect with warriors makes some sense, because it's magic. But really, physical reflect?

Oh, and then, there's the "Every time you crit three times in a row, your next spell is a guaranteed crit" brilliant idea. Once I crit three times in a row on a boss fight, I never stop critting. This combines with the +25% crit damage thing to make me aggro the boss and die in record time. Who cares though, because I already went OOM.

Yea, the hunter stuff seems rather lackluster. Especially the end of tree talents.
Also, Maim seems near worthless if you ask me. Why bother disorienting if you can stun? Anyway, I'd say all this new druid stuff turns druids into really overpowered rogues, except rogues got even more OP.

That would totally suck even more for warlocks if hunters get a 2nd pet.
They'd have a cat attacking me every second with a boar or something stunning me, while they shoot at me from 50 yards away.
Even if I got a fear off I still have the hunter and another pet.

2 pets would make them almost as op as rogues in pvp, against casters.
Two pets would flat out overpower hunters, but rogues aren't as gay in pvp now, when they got all there slow casting, slow movenment speed etc. on me i now just go "Fade". =) I also get something that is kind of like cheat death.

They made us useful in 5-mans, with an attempt at croud control (roots inndoors) and there was no reason at all to let us have a regular rez. Im really excited that trees are getting healing touch in tree form. it'll actually make them very useful endgame healers. And maim is worthless? Along with ferocious bite. Mangle, shred shred shred shred shred shred shred.....

Pallys finally get HoTs!!!!!!!!!

Even rets get arena offhealing viability too. I love what blizzard has done for us pallys.
I really won't be surprised to see full epic level 80 healadins running around with 20k mana. I think I'll probably end up changing mains to my healadin with WotLK and turn my current retadin into a PvP Lolret. I'm not so much a fan of what they have changed with retri. Yes, it's nice, very nice in fact, but it's not my style, too spell damage orientated now, yeah it may buff judge damage etc but I don't like it. Call me weird, I don't care. Plus, DKs look quite fun, especially the PvP based spec. I'm so making one.
