Hey guys, I normally don't make new threads, but I wanted to see how many people are intending to play World of Warcraft, which is released tomorrow. I've kept in touch with Shuichi, and we intend to play together, I thought it would be cool if anyone else intended to play, to get some of the TAO crew together on another game. Any takers?

but now ive seen the price.... £7.69 per month, and £45 for the collectors edition...im not quite as sure.

alas. tomorrow us europeans (including me) get to pre-order it. another beta test for me in december, then finally february before i too can continue the pwnage.

i aint decided what my main char will be yet, but im quite sure it will be a female tauren, either shaman or druid. nor have i decided the professions, alchemy/herbalism sounds like the "right" choice for the char, but i dont like the looks of it.
i might go for skinning/leatherworker.

troll rogue on beta was my main char. old viskahn was his name.

t3k, at lvl 10 train in dual weapons and train in fist weapons, and use dual fist weapons. it is impossible to be more stylish than that. though its quite damn expensive. all that training and buying is about 50 silver all together. took me a couple of hours to save up for it all :( still. its woth it when you look that cool.
my rogue was a skinner/leatherworker and i recommend it for that class, its grea t being able to make all your own armor. its better and cheaper than buying it. quite profitable too.

the only place i found where you can buy em is at orgrimmar, ask a grunt for the weapon trainer, and the dude selling fist weapons is right next to the trainer.

how am i confusing skills and talents?

fist weapon training - skill - 10 silver
left hand fist weapon - item - 21 silver
right hand fist weapon - item - 21 silver.

i remember, coz i used them. i dont talk about talents coz i dont know a great deal, in detail, about the best talent builds.

though the most popular ones for rogues is dagger in main hand, mace in off hand. some concept involving stunning your enemy with the mace. daggers are useful coz backstab is powerful, but i just prefer the style of fists.

its far more like runescape than diablo. diablo is constant killing and "running" the same monsters over and over. WoW is much more complex.

why d'ya want skinning down there? you just need to right click a skinnable corpse and it does it automatically.

other than that, just personal preference i guess but i had all my main combat moves (normal attack, sinister strike, backstab, gauge, evisc.) as 1-5, then the extra stuff like stealth and sprint, and food at the end, though looking back it woulda been a good idea to put leatherworking down there too.

It's some Carving Knife of Stamina. I have two of them now. 6-13 damage.

It's name is in Green, but I didn't read the manual all that much so I don't know the colors of rare items. Also, I got the gun ability as you can see in the pic.

It is way better than throwing stupid daggers.

60 isn't hard at all, just time consuming, you spent literal weeks of playtime gettng a char that far...and he has a dumb name!! Its just a matter of principle.

Here's where you're in a bit of a swamp if you're gonna compare pvp info and specs :p I'm a class info expert, having a char of at least lvl 40 in every class and spent countless hours just toying around with specs and concepts. I've also had 2 chars make rank 10+ in pvp and spent countless amounts of time in BG's. When you get down to it..it's sickening how much of my summer/fall I wasted doing these things (I'm disgusted even with myself). Anyways..

Now, excuse the expression, but that was all a bunch of "noob talk," Shamans were never overpowered. Just a well made class, compared to a buggy class and talent system for other classes. That's been fixed though (and has been for some time), so now Shamans are just one amongst many.

Believe it or not, I'm very familiar with shaman specs. Elemental is a bit overrated to my mind, as you rely too much on that opening nuke and a small mana pool. But you are right that the ability to guarentee a crit on your nuke, and double the damage of your crits, is a pretty sweet opening.

However...you can crit me for 4k and it won't matter :p Over 7k HP in bear form (7k armor, 8k if I equip Unyielding Maul (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=18531)), with the ability to insta heal myself the moment i shift thanks to a nice macro. Plus this all assumes that you actually get an opening hit, while if I stealth up behind you in cat form (which is likely unless you've got a sweet stealth detect), the party's pretty much over as you'll be down a 1-2k hp, dotted, and i'll be in melee range in bear form.

The only class I don't like fighting is destruction specced warlocks. Chain fear + Death Coil fear + consistant 1k nukes + DOTS + stealth detect and buff eater with their felhunter...it just wears yah down. Other druids and pally's are next on the list..just takes far too long to take them down.

FYI, my druid is an ex-marshal :D So he has all his epic pvp set (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/itemset.html?setid=397), along with Unstoppable Force (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=19323) from AV. Even though I'm resto specced on him these days so all this stuff is typically banked, I might change it back to a pvp one in the future for yahs :D

this is why I doubt he has teir two, who the hell could stand him in their guild, let me point out a few things.

1. Frostshock does shit to druids (as far as I can tell, feel free to disprove this or whatever Mega :P)

2. Wind Fury: (one r, Lrn2Spl?) is a 20% chance, if you rely on it you're a pretty weak shammy

3. Earth Shock: why on earth do you assume you'd be in range/want to cast it? Bear form ftw?

4. Teir do barely means shit if you play someone far better then you (everyone)

Frost shock..wasted. I shift, slow is gone. Earth Shock...wasted. I instantly shift and heal myself, what are you gonna inerrupt? Wind fury...wasted. Again...7k armor at a low point in bear form. You can proc three or four times (which is a 1/125 to 1/625 chance), I just hit frenzied regen and heal it back up without even shifting. ANY of that is knowable by anyone mildly skilled in PVP.

Want to make yourself look less silly? Before talking about your spells and talents...try reading what I wrote. EVERY skill you brought up is addressed before you even pointed it out. If you're not gonna bother to read it, it's best to keep your mouth closed. On a personal note..I kinda am with Kyri on that you're BS'ng. For someone who seems to talk up themselves, you don't seem to know much about the game.

Frost shock..wasted. I shift, slow is gone. Earth Shock...wasted. I instantly shift and heal myself, what are you gonna inerrupt? Wind fury...wasted. Again...7k armor at a low point in bear form. You can proc three or four times (which is a 1/125 to 1/625 chance), I just hit frenzied regen and heal it back up without even shifting. ANY of that is knowable by anyone mildly skilled in PVP.

Want to make yourself look less silly? Before talking about your spells and talents...try reading what I wrote. EVERY skill you brought up is addressed before you even pointed it out. If you're not gonna bother to read it, it's best to keep your mouth closed. On a personal note..I kinda am with Kyri on that you're BS'ng. For someone who seems to talk up themselves, you don't seem to know much about the game.

no smart shaman would waste time disrupting your heal, considering it's a total waste of mana and you can just shift to bear form and wait for next heal (As you said)

A) You can't one shot a decent druid even with a massive crit.

B) There are very few really useful 1v1 totems.

shamans have a 5-sec cooldown on earthshock and thats if you have 5 points in reverberation.

To dark..if you DO have a 60 druid
spec your druid 0/30/21
or more specifically, to *this* (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/druids2/talents.html?0000000000000000504202130320215055501 0100310000) spec. After testing about a dozen setups, this is what I found works the best PvP wise, and keeps you able to do something in instances too.


The above talent spec makes you a veritable feral beef up, and you get an isntant heal. Nature's Swiftness cures the problem of the long healing cast (Talent description: Instant cast, turns your next nature spell that is not an instant into an instant, 3min cooldown) and makes earthshock useless against you. A simple macro along with the talent can make it so that you can auto-shiftout-use the talent-heal-shiftback as an instant.

The macro is almost a necessity against a good shaman because Nature's Swiftness CAN be purged if they catch you with it on before you cast the heal spell. The macro makes it so it can't be. There's other variations of the macro too, ones that don't require you to shift, ones that'll auto-root an enemy, etc.

The totem thing is about right, though there's some easier macro's out there instead of using a script mod (though for those out there that luv them, Druidfunc is a good one).

I will say this straight out Dark...I have never, ever, been one shotted since I hit lvl 60. Almost never been two shotted ( a few warlocks got some realllly good double crits).

If you're relying on that opening hit, you're in trouble against a skilled druid, or even a half decent one.

With my marshal gear, even my caster form health is well above 4.5k, the veritable limit of nuke crits from the pure casters. I won't say you couldn't ever kill any druid in a single hit, but we're talkin the rookies here, and the improperly setup ones. The entire tactic against a fast kill on a druid is just silly. Druid tactics in pvp are speciffically designed to outlast any sort of opening ambush concept.

Absoultely anyone who has any sort of PvP experience at all will tell you that a "1 shot" or ambush tactic simply won't cut it against a druid. Which isn't to say you shouldn't use such a tactic, just that you shouldn't expect them to go down just because of it. Rogues, mages, shamans, hunters, doesn't matter. Whatever the class, expect a long fight against any decent druid (especially a feral one). The biggest reason I'm calling you out on this is because this is one of the most common knowledge things. There is no such thing as a sure-fire tactic against a druid class (or any class really for that matter), especially a fast kill tactic.


Actually had a bit of fun and took off my resto specced, went back to PvP spec, grabbed my old gear, and headed into AB. Its good to see that 1.9 didn't mess with anything too much :) It still pwns to be a feral druid.

dont diss. as a rogue, the 2 health per tick in combat, +5 throwing weapon AND BOW skill, not to mention the true leetness of +5% damage to beasts, i am unstoppable.

seriously though, the racials are fine faction-wise. the alliance does have an advantage over the horde in pve, but that is mostly down to shaman vs paladin rather than racials. once troll racials are sorted out (they got berserk to work, so thats 1 outta 4 done!) and some of the others are tweaked, it will be even better.

I'd reccomend a setup like this (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/druids2/talents.html?0000000000000000505200130022000050532 0105315001) if you wanted to be more healing based than feral. Just be aware that you're basically going to have a weak feral, or weak healing, since the stats for each type of play are mutually exclusive. Basically mean you should always have your spare gear on yah ;)

My personal healing spec pref was this (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/druids2/talents.html?0140500302000000000000000000000050550 0105315001), which went straight casting. That way you could just boost up that int+spirit and not worry about feral stats.

31 points for resto just makes you a healing machine with innervate, and you really don't need any more in there after that.


If you want to go a bit more versatility, try the pvp build with this (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/druids2/talents.html?0000000000000000505200130312215005542 0100310000) spec. I used that for my pvp'ng, but its a good all around build for healing still. You still have your insta-heal, and a 20% int boost, so lotta mana with caster gear on. Again, with this setup you'll want to keep 2 sets of gear to switch between.

29'd Ony on our 2nd attempt ever two days ago, she reset and we did it with 32
then later in MC we downed Sulf with 3 tanks, and 4 Preists (and a crapload of lag), then to Golemmag with 3 preists and 6 shamans, 32ish total, with that lag, I ended up winning Salamandar Scale Pants (http://www.wowguru.com/db/items/salamander-scale-pants-id18875/) for PvE, and got Obsidian scaled leggings (http://www.wowguru.com/db/items/obsidian-scaled-leggings-id21476/) in AQ 20 for PvP a bit ago, good week in all for me

Fully PVP geared Druid (plus the Unstoppable Force of course), with his other gear (ZG stuff, some MC things, plus all the healing gear from DM).

Definitely more of a demand, overall, for tribal. But some classes get more use out of elemental.

ive been elemental for months and frankly it isnt worth it. the ingredients are not only damn rare but also in high demand from other professions, and generally there are very few items worth getting, and even less which you can reliably sell for any kind of a profit.

tribal on the other hand, has "good" ingredients and usable items which you can make, so is far far easier for making money with.

dragonscale has some very nice patterns too, but very expensive to make.

just do a lot of ubrs, BWL, and Onyxia runs

then you're set for dragonscale


but yes, without doubt tribal is the most used setup. You can make the best caster cloak in the game from a tribal pattern.

i was the first person on deathwing to get the volcanic shoulders recipe (for 15g on AH...weeeee) and only made like 100g on it overall, if that. the rest of the stuff i basically make for free when people give mats, and sell mats on rather than actually make any items to sell.

I had a problem like that earlier...I was farming some timbermaw rep, when I jumped off a hill and died...I had no arrows pointing to my body, nor would it let me res at my body...Had to get a druid to res me.

turns out you can just relog, and I was just up there today, not farming anything nub like that rep though

There IS a way to edit your game to access different realms, but this pretty much voids your ability to ever use tech service from Blizzard if you have account/client troubles.

This is why I ask. Tonight while sitting in my college course we had to introduce ourselves and what we did for a living. Anyhow, this one guy says that he works at some place blah blah, then he explains for extra cash, he plays World of Warcraft, he gets his account to a certain level, then he sells his account on Ebay :dry: . When I got home, I got on ebay and checked it out, I'll be damned if there isn't accounts that sell for anywhere from $66.00 and a couple sold for over $1,000.00!!! :confused:
Now I nothing about this game, but I thought for the adults that are able to sell it, this might be some useful information. The people selling these accounts explain what level the account is and what items it has, as I said I don't play this game so it is all jibberish to me.
Anyhow, I'm going to be looking into this game a little more. Hell If I can make money by playing games, then the wife can't really complain too much can she. :rolleyes:

No. You can't. Ya know how they say "love what you do for a living"? This is an extreme case of this. You are not going to want to sit on this game and farm for hours and hours at a time just to make back a few extra bucks, as the time it will take you to 1) learn to play the game, 2) learn what makes accounts desirable, and 3) take the time to buy, create, and lvl such an account, you could have made oodles of money pimping out your wife on eBay, or at a minimum wage job.

Just my forwarning. :wink2:

btw, what did you mean by "adults"? Cuz I only got a chance to play this for a college video game design class, if early 20s makes me an adult...

Just sold my old account a few weeks ago for $750 :D

1 month of really hard playing to get a char from 1-60, and thats if you know what your about. Thats an average of course. By "hard playing" I'm talking 4+ hours a day 7 days a week, at a minimum. Once you get to the higher levels (40+) you have to count on spending a larger time span each time you play to do anything significant, though if you do it right you can grind pretty well right up to 60.

This also doesn't necessarily include items and other bonuses (i.e. quests which allow you access to different places, keys, pvp items/rank, etc)


I think that you could actually make a decent go at this for money right now, if you did it properly. The problem is its not gonna be a lasting thing. Eventually (and I am betting like in the next 8-10 months at most) the market for these will get clogged and the price for these things will go down.

Plus, the basics of what you'd get for a single lvl 60 character aren't that great. Maybe 100-200 at the best. MY account had 2 lvl 60's (one decked out with Grand Marshal gear, i.e. hardest stuff to get) and a multitude of other characters at lower levels. It was the product of a good 4.5 months of effort. Plus, to get the Grand Marshal gear for my main char, I basically played 8+ hours a day for a month or so.

Yeah, the payoff is pretty good, but when I look back at the sheer number of hours put into it...its kinda depressing.


As you might have guessed, this is something I've studied and looked into ;)
Not saying you couldn't make any money off it, but that its not really a viable alternative. Its really just something nice to show for your effort once you leave the game (which I assume is your goal anyways, so this could work for yah). Most people can't do it though for the cash because you get really attached to your characters, and its a lot of work to just sell off.



EDIT: If your just looking to break even while your playing, consider having someone else pay for your account. My sister's b/f (the main guy i played with when I was in the game) has several stacked up lvl 60 characters on a few realms. So he basically just sells his time and play ability. Like someone he knows will pay for his account, so he'll join their clan and participate in their events and such. Not a bad deal when you think about it. Of course if you're just getting going in the game, this wouldn't work for yah as you don't have anything to offer someone to have them pay for your account (yet).
