Yes, everyone recieves the vile e-mails everytime a post is made, but is it not the fault of the multiple poster for this array of darkness? Elitism can also be defined as a group that excludes all those that wish to become like the elitist group. So, if by posting one time to try and become a part of the group that is these elitist posters (Which, admittedly, the Dark Lord could also be classified under), the serf poster will immediately befall the same harsh conditions that all others in the elitist group must face. To counteract this, the serf must choose to unsubscribe the elitist forum and give up his dream of becoming one with the great posters, and go back to his place of serfhood. One of the first things I do when I sign up for a vb forum is to turn that off. Then, if for some strange reason I decide I want to be notified by email when someone posts in a particular thread, I simple click the Email Notification box in the reply options.

We let anyone in. If they choose to stay, that is fine with us. If they choose to unsubscribe, that is also fine with us. How is that elitist?

Here is why it isn't elitist. Say you make a gold only clan. Only the people with money can join. Certain classes of people are excluded, so it is an elitist clan. With this topic, anyone can join, and everyone has the same ability to delete all the emails they get. It is only dependent on class, not on status.

Elitism is a completly conscious choice. You can choose to be an elitist, or you can choose to be an anti-elitist. We aren't excluding people based on abilities, or social status, or economic means, or anything else that can only be attained by some. Everyone can renounce their elitism at any time.

That said, we don't exclude elitists from our clan. We only exclude other clan members. If you are an elitist but want to be part of an anti-elitist clan, fine with me.

Elitism does not mean coming together and protesting. Elites don't protest. They want things to stay as they are.

The Dark Lord agrees that anyone is allowed in, but what is being discouraged are those people who can not make the sacrifice of time (to read this lengthy forum) or intellegence (to turn off the e-mail respondances). People are not being discouraged monetarily, but at the same time I fully expect that there will be relatively few players in the world of TAO who can sacrifice their time or can compete with the ideas based in this post. Almost everyone who has contributed to this topic thus far has thouroughly exceeded the needed requirement of time and intellegence, yet that only further discriminates against those players who lack either and wish to join in on the fun and friendship that is made with the replies. We are elitism at its highest form because we discrminate behind what normal people see. It is hard to judge a persons time and intellegence in any matter, let alone inside an online forum. We who know the secrets of this corner of the world only further isolate ourselves from the rest of TAO (albiet, many are not hardcore players, yet this is further a discrimination and elitism). To actively bring others to topics that pertain to the real world of TAO is the ultimate goal of one who does not believe in elitism, and so it is that our council here is a picture of elitism behind closed doors. It is a leap from what you have been using elitism to mean, but at the same time it fits the definition of elitism that I posted much earlier.

It doesn't take intellegence to turn off email notification, just knowledge, which anyone can attain simply by asking.

Some people may not have the money to pay for this, but in the same respect it is possible to sacrifice time to gain money, and in that respect those players who are elite because they pay money are in the same boat as those players who sacrifice time to play, because they all end up losing the same thing, all that differs is the gains. This could be used to provide more proof that golds are elite because they gain more for their sacrifice of money, but the Dark Lord believes it to be that it is knowledge that separates those who pay and don't, and once again, it becomes a matter of choice.

Sacrifice of time is different than sacrifice of money because we live in a real world. Everything requires investment of time to an extent. Everyone can choose to sacrice time, not everyone has the money to sacrifice.

HTML is pretty easy. Especially if you use an editor. :) If you run into trouble, just download one.

Or, do what I do. Make a Word document. Make it the way you want, the writing, background, attach graphics, you can do almost anything in there.
Then save it as an html file.
Then upload that file to your server, and there's your page. :)
