I don't know---you would have only 1 knight and 1 assassin to my much more injured knight and much more injured assassin. If I got luck I could get a draw by standing next to my lighting ward with my assassin.

at the time of the hit your knight was 1 hit away from death and your assassin was in range of my LW. i had 3 knights left, and an assassin. you might have won there if you were ridiculously lucky, and i think i might be able to check the odds on my calculator.. one sec...

there is about a 1.26% chance you would have gotten the blocks and hits you would have needed to pull it off. but who knows... it could happen

never have we implied that KOTR is a good clan simply because it is the oldest. KOTR is a great clan because of the people in it - age comes in only because our clan has had more time to find good players

I knew that i would have to get around my dad saying that it was him, because it is easy to claim that the statement is false, but in my mind it would be much worse if my dad hadn't said it was him because people would think that this was coming from me, and i would have no back-up; that is not what i want.

My dad likes to cause trouble, and as you see, he has caused trouble for me in either case, therefore he did know what he was doing.

The words in the post are what really have the most effect though, because without the words, the beginning and the end are meaningless. In other words, a closing statement to a post may have a solid effect on the reader, but this solid effect is very much shaped by the actual topic of the post, whether it may seem this way or not. For instance, if my dad had posted a solid point to be noticed that was a solution to many problems, the fact the he said it was my dad would have a positive effect (but the positive effect only comes from the fact the the post is a positive post). (in this case) If the Post was concerning a specific person or group of people, then the fact that he stated it to be from him would have an effect soley based on the words in the post (therefore the words would be the true validity of the ending statement).

This means in short that it is not the ending statement that is important, but it is the words in a post, and in the post the fact that it was from my dad effects the reader in a way that is chosen by how their reading effects them. Because really, in this case, the reader does not know the person who is posting the post, and thus does not have a valid personal understanding or basis of thought on the person that is great enough to shap their oppinion of a post.

4. Your "dad" said something about "Something Wicked" being an inactive clan. There is no way he would know that unless he really paid attention. Knowing dads, most of them have better things to do than spend hours on a forum of a game their son plays.
5. You're trying to explain yourself out. People who do that generally are guilty. If it really was your dad, you would use a different method. You'd spend more time saying I was wrong and less time in explanation.

This is Logic's dad again. If you can't tell the difference in our writing style and style of thought then you are missing a lot.

So, it's atypical for a dad to be interested? My son spends hours a day playing this game. He posts a lot on this board. I have watched him play the game many times, and even give him my comments on the game he is playing. I don't have my own account because I don't want the time sink of actually getting into playing this game myself. I learned my lesson from Everquest, lol.

My son and I have what I would call a good enough relationship that he is amused by my wanting to post here, but he asked that I identify myself when I do it.

When I wrote the first of my two posts, my son was sitting there watching me do it, and that is why I wrote what I did (as if it was him, as if I could beat you in this game, and as if I was a member of the clan, none of which are the case), but he wouldnt let me post it unless I said that it was really me posting, so I wrote that at the end.

I guess if i really wanted to post here on a regular basis I should just make my own account. Ah, my son is sitting here, and he tells me i dont need a playing account to make a forum account, so maybe I'll do that. But, if you want to be sceptical, you can, if it pleases you, assume that the forum account is also really Logic posting, LOL.

And, btw, im not 40, only 34. And over the christmas holidays I do have lots of time to spend looking at the stuff that my son is doing and playing. I'm sorry for you that that seems strange to you.

As far as me knowing something about his clan and about the game, over the last week I have been sitting here a lot with him when he plays and when he posts, and he shows me stuff that he wants me to read, and sometimes (as in the case of some of the clan threads) I take over and read thru a thread all the way.

Maybe when my son is 14 he will start making me butt out of everything he does, lol. I'm ready for it when it happens ;-).

You are right there are no grownups. Most of the ppl I have brought to play this game are all over 24 years of age and enjoy the game.

More to clans than flaming.. Sure aside from the newly established system in place which I'm sure you'll see there is a kind of friendship you can make.

It is neat to see what Hanish_Scout and Intense will do for their clan (KOTR). They make images (banners) just so ppl can have an image to portray themselves or their alias on screen. And the websites we build.. Why do it? It is just another way to bring together a group of people and enjoy a game and the company of community of our peers. Our clan is kinda a self help group.. all of us later nighters need something to do. so why learn about current events, sleep, or spend time with our families when there are matches to be had and prove your whit.

I would aggree that it is best for you create your own account for the game and forum account. You can watch, learn, and enjoy, and if need be keep your distance. You will also be able to learn for others besides your son, and beat him. Plus you could get a gold account so that make it twices as fun.. :)

But whatever you decide it is good to see someone who shows an interest.

Nope. Elitism destroys companies. A successful company says "The customor is always right." A successful company cares about its customers the most, because it knows it has no existance without them. It will lower itself down to the level of the customer.

Yes, but is this a good thing? Thousands of kids spend long hours over many days to get into professional sports- time that could be used to (play TAO? thats a good counter-argument. But realize that many think they can depend on a scholarship they are probably not going to get) train for a more useful and beneficial occupation. Americans (and people in general) worship celebrities, worship sports figures, worship the elites. Is that a good thing?


I'm not down with excluding people for unfair reasons but there is a reason that elitism works. It's part of the very nature of the human species. Of the animal kingdom. Survival of the fittest is a reality.

In human societies, it shouldn't be. We succeed as a species because we don't have survival of the fittist with the rest of society. We work together for the benefit of all.

I'm sorry, but I fail to see any logic in your arguments. You shouldn't look at our examples too literally.

I also think people have a lot of varying definitions of elitism. There's the snobby, uppity, aloof kind of elitism, which doesn't exist in TAO, but which you seem to think it does. If you have just joined a new game, you shouldn't expect to reap all the benefits of long periods of play. It's like the job ladder. The teenager doesn't go into a corporation and demand to be the head of their division. He starts off as an intern, and if they're lucky then they go on to become minor employee's, and if they're really lucky then they become the CEO or head of a division after long years. Also, who are you to say that survival of the fittest shouldn't be a part of normal society? You aren't. It's just the way things work. You can protest it, but it won't go away. It's ingrained in us.

BTW, if you're not caring about skill, and instead of focusing on destroying leetism, how is that working for you guys? Has it started to crack, crumble around the edges? Do "leetists" hide from your awesome might? You can post and play in this game. Neither "destroys" anything.

Also, you're one of the best greys out there, but you don't care about skill, you just play to destroy leetism.

The elitism of KOTR is the first kind. That's why you vote on new members rather than just having a required standard to join. In any case, elitism of either type is equally wrong. The purpose of anti-inclusivism is to protect something you have at the expense of other people. You have an established, unique, prominent clan that a lot of people want to be part of. But you'd deny it from them so that you can feel that you are better than them. You enjoy having a clan that excludes. And it isn't even based on skills; many of your members are not very good players.

Anti-inclusivism is morally wrong.

The real difference is that the job ladder actually serves a practical purpose. Of course, in practice American capitalism really is elitist. The people born to the rich go to elite schools and elite universites to prepare for jobs someone else could do just as well or better if they were born in the right place to the right family.

It's just the way things work.

It really isn't. We don't have survival of the fittest. Like bees, we are social creatures. That means part of our survival as a species depends on working together for the common good. Many years ago, tribe members worked together to support the entire tribe. If one tribe member decided suddenly that he was just going to hunt for himself, he'd lose out in the evolutionary game, because he wouldn't be supporting a family. That means no kids to carry out your genes.

Tribes became cities became empires became nations. Today, most places in the USA people aren't going to kill you and take everything you own. Why? Because we as a nation have instituted a system of laws that takes away rights from individuals to support the common good. That goes directly against the principles of survival of the fittest.

Human societies progress. We evolve as cultures. And I would say, in the history of evolution and in the history of societies, working together is much more profitable than fighting against each other. Sharing the burden and the rewards is much more advantagous than keeping the first for the masses and the second for a few.

I'm just saying, progress a few steps further.

Abyaly's made this argument too. Very little is ingrained in us. Besides desire for food, sex, that sort of thing. So called "human nature" is basically a product of society. We can tell that by looking at the whole of human societies over history and how they've progressed. People are very different in different cultures.

The Pyro Pyrates are not going down, not on Great Lakes and not on any other server. In fact, all our servers are gaining members and we have lots of new plans for the future.

BTW, I beat another KOTR gold, and I did it with default grey units, the one who was bragging about all the Pyros he beat a few posts earlier in this thread.

I never said this forum is dying. It isn't. What is said is that this thread is "a symbol of a TAO forum long gone." Which is true. The TAO forums of today are not like the TAO forums of the first month or so of TAO.

There isn't a major decrease in posts, just a major decrease in quality posts.

TAO will live a long time. Good games usually do. But it will never regain the excitement it had at the time of the start of this thread.

I'm starting a new clan soon. It will be the best clan of all time. We will destory KOTR. Anyone who wants to join before formation can apply through my profile email or right here. The only conditions are as follows:

1. You cannot be part of KOTR
2. You cannot be part of TN
3. You cannot be part of any other clans.

I don't care about stats. Kill newbs and get stats not too hard. I don't care how good you are. I don't care which server you play on. What applies to one server applies to all. I don't care whether you're gold.

My clan is anti-elitist. Almost every clan wants to be l33t. We don't. We don't care how much higher you think of yourself than everyone else. Everything happens by luck anyways. There is no order to the universe.

All the elitist clans want to keep their power, keep their serfs, laze around on stupid crusades while their slaves work all day in the fields. Our clan has a message: Your laziness will be your downfall. Your power will be your downfall. You will not survive. We will win.

We will eliminate all l337 from this universe.
