First kill is named [cory]. Was a 1207 gold when I jumped him when he was fishing on floor... 4, I think. 4 or 5. Anywho.

He's got two available Scout shots on my Cleric, but instead he uses his first move to surround his Furgon in shrubs and his next few moves to take front shots at my Knights and Assassins. I take shots at his Mud Golem, then move the Knight in.

4 hits on the Mud, and 1 on my Assassin later...

[cory] uses the Enraged Furgon technique on me, surrounding my units with shrubs. I Assassin and move a step forward, he takes another front hit on my Assassin and hits, but doesn't move. Next available turn, I ass-bomb the Knight and Scout.

I wouldn't have posted this head if it wasn't obvious by his formation and tactics that his gameplay is centered around beating greys, and wasn't making the effort to learn any serious gameplay.

EDIT: Kill 2!

I almost feel bad about posting this one, as the guy was clearly a new player (stats 784) and was possibly just trying to get a game... But his setup was decidedly anti-grey (frontline Witch % Mud, DSM just out of LW reach, 2 Clerics, aggressive BW positioning to take advantage of lack of range). I think he could just use a little guidance, is all. I hope he learned from our game. :)

EDIT II: Kill 3!

Gold at 1245 was moving around on the ninth floor, so I put my piece down in the top left corner and after a moment's hesitation he jumped me.

This guy was actually a fairly good player, whose only real downfall was that he fell into my trap so neatly. Early in the game he was toying with Dragon positioning to keep me from doing anything important and I was moving my flank Knights (left side) into position for a side attack when he got a front hit on my Assassin. I moved her into the corner and shot her in the side with the Scout. He could not reach with a Knight or Dragon and didn't have a Mud, so he attempted a lame-duck attack on my Assassin with his Scout (he could only hit front) and... This is where the mistake was made...

He moved a space back.

All in all he wasn't a bad player. After that he tried to make an advance on my Cleric with the Dragon and I took Witch, but thanks to some dual-Pyro pummeling I forced his Dragon away and then killed it with a 77% shot. After that he surrendered.

I'm posting this one because he was a ~1250 gold, wasn't particularly bad at the game, but still jumped my grey, otherwise I'd have to respect him as a player, he put up a decent fight. :)

EDIT III: Kill 4!

A ~1050 gold who was fishing on one of the lower floors. I was getting tired of looking for a different gold to play, so I jumped him.

My first move after he stoned was to retreat my Knight, at which point he said "a jumper retreating? how strange", or something along those lines. He then proceeded to take two front hits on my Assassin, first with the Scout (miss) and second with the Knight (hit due to reduced blocking %). I took advantage of my 16 HP Assassin by Pyroblasting it and moving it to the Assassin's side so he could only get a front hit on my 3 HP Assassin (with + 41 blocking) to break the bomb.

Well, 0% shots never hit :), so I bombed his full health, stoned Dragon Tyrant.

Game progressed, he killed my Pyromancer and then I traded my Witch for his Scout and he started talking about how he gets so bored with games that he doesn't feel like trying to win, even when he's winning (indicating that I was losing). I told him to take some Ritalin and then killed his Berserker.

Then he surrendered for "Dinner".

I am posting this win because he tried to make excuses and talk down to me after I started getting the jump on him. It is imperative that you are respectful to your opponents. :)

EDIT IV: Kill 5!

I saw the guy try to jump a grey that was on his way out of the battle, so I put my piece down on the same floor and he jumped me. Had almost 1100 stats and a weird corner-ish form. I took a quick advantage by priming and protecting a corner Assassin Bomb and he started begging me to surrender in exchange for his password (which I knew he would lie about) and trading some of his units (which I knew he was already lying about). He started taking potshots at one of my flanked Knights and once he brought his Dragon in for the kill (he miscalculated, leaving him at 1 HP), I used my primed bomb to kill the Sassy and he left.

I'm posting this win because he grey jumped, and then tried to scam me out of the win--for all intensive purposes, if the contents of that battle weren't entrapment, I'd have him on the chopping block right now.

EDIT V: Kill 6!

A clearly new gold named Chocobo. Had 700 stats and used ONLY gold units, no Cleric and no Scouts. I feel pretty bad about posting this (see win 2), as the guy looked like he had just gone gold and was trying to learn how to use gold units.

EDIT VI: Kill 7!

Presumably a new gold, named Seredoc. Had a fairly good anti-rush form, pretty standard as far as golds go. I was impressed by his gameplay, he suckered me into losing my Cleric, Witch and Knight fairly early and made sure I couldn't use the Assassin Bomb, which is my personal trump card. With a late-game resurgence with my final two Knights, LW and Scout vs. his 2 Knights, Scout and Dragon, I was able to pull off a very close and exciting win.

I am posting this screenshot as a statement that this guy is not to be discouraged from playing. He was fishing (so I jumped him), was respectable and he played pretty well, especially for a new gold.

Against johnnyROX077, who was also a pretty new gold (outlined by his DSM, and distinct lack of Dragon Tyrant). I had already killed his Wisp and was almost done with his Mud while making only one actual movement before he surrendered.

EDIT VIII: Win 9!

Guy named IKEj, 1056 gold. Seen him jump greys at different times of the day, so when he finally put his piece down I pounced. The form was clearly designed to counter greys, with a center stone cluster consisting of Frost, 2 Scouts and Dragon, and a BW and Knight guarding his Cleric. Made a lot of mistakes in the game, including trying to kill my Knight with +71 blocking with a Scout side hit, even though his Dragon could move. Also made no attempt to guard the Frost or the Cleric, or the Barrier Ward. An easy kill, clearly this guy needs to learn some serious gameplay and not just anti-grey tactics.

EDIT IX: Win 10!

That's right, Gold Jumpers, 10 kills in one day. Proof I lack a life. :)

This guy's name was slayer200666. Grey jumper, 1156 stats. Just had to jump him... Almost regretted it immediately.

If there was any definition to "uber bomb", his form would be it. 4 Witches, 3 Pyromancers, Dragonspeaker Mage and Dragon Tyrant all in the same corner cluster, not a single blockable in the bunch. Made choosing facing easier, that's for sure!

Anyway, he got a few lucky blocks in the beginning which forced me to retreat and use my Scout under LW guard, and with some double-moves involving my own Witch and Pyromancers I was able to get two double-kills off of him (one with the Pyromancer to kill a Pyro and Witch, the other with the Witch to kill DSM and a Pyromancer). After that he had an 8 HP Pyro, 10 HP Witch, 4 HP Witch (he burned through it to kill my Assassin) and a 53 HP Dragon. I killed the Pyro with my Scout when he brought it in and retreated it, then killed both his Witches with Knights after he Witch-bombed my Lightning Wards and that ended the game.

I am posting this battle because he was a grey jumper with a bad attitude whose form was completely devoid of skill and blatantly takes advantage of gold drops/units to rape unsuspecting greys.

Learn to play better, slayer.

It was, but in every situation I tricked my opponent into a situation where I could prime my Assassin Bomb and they could not do anything to stop but take a shot with minimum to no chance of breaking the bomb.

In other words: I prime through skill, not through luck. Like the one I just got against this guy, who can't move to break it without losing a unit, and can only get a front hit in the process.

I rule. :p

Kill 1!

Guy named rude boy, I saw him fighting greys when I got on and decided to give it a whirl. Jumped him when I saw him fishing on one of the low floors.

The set was decidedly anti-grey, with spread damagers centered and two witches, but with my LW and Cleric placement (and his Scout placement) he couldn't immediately get at my Cleric. He made his intentions clear, however, and got my Cleric and Witch in exchange for Mud, Scout and Assassin.

After much artful dodging and shuffling, both of us lost our remaining Assassins without forcing an Assassin Bomb (I lost my Pyromancers and killed his Wisp in the process), leaving us with my 3 Knights, Scout and LW vs. his Knight, Scout, 2 Witches and Cleric. I caught the Scout in a corner and pummeled it with Knight attacks, as he went for my Scout--at the cost of his Knight (I lost my Knight shortly after, to the two Witches).

He kept his Witches far apart, but close enough to where he could use both on the same Knight, so I split up and killed one Witch while he killed one Knight. After that it was Witch vs. Knight, and Knight always wins in those situations.

I'm posting this because I suspect he enjoys taking advantage of greys, and because he was, in fact, a "rude boy". :) Enjoy.

Ok everybody, I haven't gotten a good gold win in a long while and I never played a gold using defult so guess what I did :p

Ok It started out with him having a second row stone. He was using: 2 scouts, DT, Frost, Pyro, DSM, Cleric, and LW. He wasted 1 scout, and pyro trying to get my cleric and DMW. Eventually he got though. He then wasted a DSM killing my first pyro and hitting my knight and chanty. He went to move scout in to hit chanty next turn but he shot DSM on accident. I then killed DSM, he moved up DT and frost as I paralyzed his scout. I protected my enchy from his DT and kept his frosty far away. I killed his frosty after he moved his DT up to close, but he did get 1 of my knights. After that I just paralzyed his DT and scout and game was over.

I just played COPPERTOP using Defult. He won, unfortunetly. He used 2 cleric set with DSM and 2 pyros, 2 scouts, DT and second row Stone. Yeah I could of sassy bombed him at the end but it wouldn't of matterd. He had 2 scouts, DT, and stone left.

Is it me, or when you're playing defult you tend to either set up a turtle in the non opposing corner or move all attack units on the offensive?

Yeah it depends what your playing against. Going on the offence vs a LW/draggy/frost anti is kinda pointless, so I hit and run and try and get stray knight and scouts first :p
A turt or a spread however, Ill go on the attack and start chopping!!!! :)

1357 stats, pretty well-rounded, but his form made me want to vomit. No mud golem, nothing in front of the third row except his LW and a Knight... And he had rush units. Ew!

It goes without saying that I had to teach this guy a lesson, but I got some poor luck in the beginning... DSM side block, Scout side blocks on both Scouts, and then two more blocks with the DSM to save it on separate occasions... It was sad. I was able to trade my Pyro and Assassin for a Scout and a hit on his DSM... But the hit didn't amount to much, as he killed the Sassy, then my second Pyro and retreated...

I caught a lucky break when he made a LOS mistake and shot my Knight in the front instead of killing my Cleric. After that I started backing into my corner and he kept making mistakes--blocking his DSM path, sending units in one or two at a time, and so on.

The end result was nothing short of ownage. 1357 to 1339... You're welcome. :)

This big fish got away... Name's Djarum, 1264 stats... Used a stone clustered turtle with no Scouts. Piece of cake, I thought.

Not with my legendarily bad luck. :dry: Multitudes of Scout saves brought it down to a situation where it was my 2 Pyros, Knight and Cleric vs. his 2 Pyros, Dragon and Stone... And then an additional save lost me my Knight, ending my real chances at a win.

With that in mind I killed off his stoned Pyros and retreated, with the hopes of killing his Dragon on the run. Instead he retreated & restoned, forcing my hand, so after he killed my Cleric, I opted for a Dragon draw.

The end result was 1264 to 1259, which is nothing compared to the 1357 to 1339 rapage of bigfish... Any grey jumper's stat loss is a win for the gold jumpers, but still... I am so sorry, guys. :(

Meh, I played bigfish with defult. He won by 4 units, but that dsm just killed me because after I had killed both scouts I had allowed DSM and other pyro to get up close to my clustered units.

Had a nice win against a 1250 HA'er named mtngoose.
He had a 2 scout/mud/draggy/knight/frost/LW turt
I had default grey

Game started not so well for me. I charged in with knights and was lucky enough to trade scout and 2 knights for cleric and frost. From there a bit of tooing and froing occurred and he took my witch, sassy and a pyro and I damaged his scouts very badly and killed his mud. It looked like he had the game but some fancy footwork and maneuvouring with my last 3 units (chanty, pyro and knight) managed to freeze his draggy and knight while I killed off his last scout. From here I just killed everything that was frozen and then took old mate chanty over to freeze his LW and stone. Won by a 7 HP chanty and a 12 HP knight. Insane game :p

he got my cleric early on, so I had to make every move count... it came down to his full knight and cleric vs two of my knights at under 10 health, a 7 hp bw, and my lw. he took the knight that had +blocking in the teens with a side shot leaving me with just one knight, lw, and a bw, but i managed :) very good game, that luck played no part in at all

Beat another gold. Not gonna post the S/S or report on this one, since the Gold Jumpers I know and love poaches grey jumpers, assholes, newbie hunters, cheaters and other ill-natured golds. I jumped this guy while he was fishing and he was a nice guy, eliminating that aspect of the kill; plus, no offense to him, but he wasn't exactly strong enough for me to override my Gold Jumping code to poach him. :)

Speaking of easy targets, how about lil510mofo? That guy's been gold and riding the line on the charts since early 2005 (he was on the charts when I first hit them in April of the same year).

That guy's easy. I beat him a looong time ago with a default grey set, while he was 1380 or something, awhile after that he left and I have just recently been seeing him playing again. Good source of points. :)

Also, I have a poach--guy named kingbenno, about 1100 stats, liberal use of Witches, Knights, and the armoring of the aforementioned. Didn't actually play very well, he spent every five turns moving/refocusing his Stone Golem, at which point I'd shoot it with my waiting Scout. Downed his Cleric and Frost Golem with a Knight and Assassin, but not before I downed a Witch, Knight and Mud Golem.

Won with the following units:

Default is a good form against other greys (specifically non center forms), but I'm genuinely curious if it's better than your normal turt against a gold. In grey games the main advantage of the default is that it has so much power, and so many mobile attackers (meaning trading units is bad, and it's hard to get an attack going meaning you have to play very patiently and tactically), but it seems like trying to outpower a gold that isnt a gold turt would be tough.

Powza, obviously you pwn and thats why you win with the default against golds, but do you feel like its a better form than a standard corner turt?

No I dont think it is necessarily better. I just use it for the challenge and for something different to do. In a grey tourney I would probably not use it because you really have to earn your wins, Id use one of my grey turts. You are right about the attacking unit advantage, but the great thing about default is it can adapt and change its form depending on the situation. It is not "stuck down" in one place due to wards, etc.

I actually find that the default set is better vs golds than it is vs other greys though. Default is great. The only thing that shits me about is it the lack of BW. But if used sensibly it is awesome. It has really taught me how to use pyros well.

I'm currently on a computer in which i can't take screen shots, and they were'nt that good of wins either, but I thought I'd mention them just because they where both funny :p

The first one was vs GarganticSpear (somthing like that) he had a wierd form and was... well, kinda wierd himself

The second, was vs BigTitties (amazing name, no?) and was a fun game because the entire time she tried to get me kicked with different tricks, of which I all knew. And at one time, she told me to swear, so I presseded to say ok, I'll say ass and you say the rest. When she wouldn't and I asked her why she wouldn't, she said, "because I'll get kicked" :lol:

I love it when they admit what they're doing is cheating... :p

Very nice Powza, it's funny becaus untill I recently started using my new form, which is like a wanna be Default set, I would have never known how to beat a gold turtle, I mean, I thought it was almost impossible. Aye, infact, that is probably one of the hardest aspects... honestly though, there's really no amazing stratgy to killing them, you just got to deal with em' I've found :)

kingbenno - got a frontal on my assassin that was prepped to bomb and take out his dragon, which would've left me to chanty his two knights, then another frontal on a knight also for a ko(he gloated over each frontal, at one point saying "that's sheer skill baby. i bet you couldn't even hit a side shot[he was right, next turn i missed a side shot ko hit on his knight]. should've won bigger, but a win nonetheless. he asks for a rematch afterwards.
