As you all might know, gold jumpers on great lakes was once a force to be reckoned with. It first began on Banff, and progressed to the other servers. Most of the members of the Gold Jumpers have left, or are not on as they were in the past. My main man Cephas left, and left a few members in charge. Bane is the main leader, but due to unknown circumstances he hasnt been seen for quite some time. Same goes for many other members. I wanted to make a thread on this in the great lakes forum to ask the people of great lakes to keep Gold Jumpers alive and well. We need skilled players. Gold Jumpers have to be at the top of all greys. They must have experience on fighting golds, and as well as a good attitude. Only very, very few will be let in. I know some of the best players of great lakes, would gladly join up with us. As for the greys out there, just because the golds got a few upgraded units, doesnt mean shit. The greys of gold jumpers were majorly feared, and few are at present. I want to bring that fear back into the heart of golds. Make them remember greys have power as well.

I just played the self-proclaimed best grey on GL *Scout somethin'* I forgot... but he was talkin' mad sh*t the whole game and then said he won when he (at the last second) killed one of my guys. It took him the whole game to kill one... Then he said I won by luck. Then called me a loser when HE challenged me and I won! What is this cat thinkin'?! He said he was talking to a mod to get me banned... But i have contributed over $100 in the last 6 months for all of my accounts. I just got this one to make little boys like him mad. And it works. He says everyone hates me but then my other names are loved across GL and Rev. So I think he is taking this a lil too far... He should just stop crying about his loss when he challenged me. I help them learn how to play and teach them how to setup and that you don't have to attack after you move just because it gives you the option. I did a vivisimo.com search on Srip and seems that I am not the only person that has never heard of it... Nothing came back on it... Why don't you use a good IP sniffer like WebTracer? Where have I caused a problem? There is no rule saying you cannot get on a table that another player is sitting on regardless of account status. I don't start any trouble... people start trouble with me. Bills will see this and not ban me because I don't start problems. *Scout Blade* or Greyness (whatever you want to be called) challenged me. I accepted, then went into the game and said Hi. He started with me. He said at the beginning of the game that I suck because I only play greys. I told him we'll just see how bad I suck. After killing 3 or 4 of his guys without losing one of my own he started with the trash talking then said he was going to report me for some reason or another. He was just upset because he thought, going in, that he was going to teach me a lesson or something and he did not get what he expected... now he's mad. I say again. I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING WRONG! I was trying to be nice... and then he started this and everyone immediately takes his side because of my name and the fact you don't like grey jumpers. I'm sorry you don't like grey jumping, but you can't ban ALL of the Grey Jumpers that you know of because TAO would be losing too much money. There will always be grey jumpers... cry about it if you want, but there is nothing you can do about it. And over half of the Grey Jumpers don't even read the forums so they don't even know that some people look down on it.

I've played ice zero as well under one of my many practice names a while back.. He is a very good player, but i managed to pull off a 7 unit lead. Most golds I play with my grey account appreciate a good game, even if they do come on the short end of the stick. Don't try to get all indignant on me saying that I support the game, I pay for you, blah blah blah. The main reason I made Gold Jumpers in the first place was to keep golds ratings honest. Back a few months ago, there were a group going by the "30 point adjustment" name and such. They would take golds and beat them after giving away stats to get thier stats down to low 600's. I beat golds whatever level I am at. I keep them honest, but I also look for a good game and I usually have to think more playing golds than I do greys.

Am I looking down on your clan? Probably. Golds are supposed to beat greys. It's just the way the game is made. When a gold beats a grey, it's nothing big. But when a grey beats a gold, the gold should hold his head in shame since every tactical advantage is with them. But if I do see you, I'll give you a game. I may lose. That's the way it's supposed to be. But I guarantee it will be one of the better games you've ever played with a grey.

The way I've understood it, he never accepts challenges, he just jumps. Your best bet is to make a name and plop yourself in an arena in hopes that he will jump you.

I was netjak at one point as well. Med is both netjak and GJ. Many of my players are alter-egos of those disillusioned with greyjumping, cheating golds who won't accept a challenge from another gold.

And yes, one of my guys mentioned that they would have to go up against you in a tournament of some sort, and that you were a skilled player.

Haven't I shown you my form? It excels at opposite turtle matches because of the fork. Here is not the best place for discussing Jumping technique though. If you log on and show yourself to be a Gold Jumper, typically the other jumpers will log in as well and you can discuss with them (or me, if I'm around). No sense in giving away secrets now, is there? :D

For now, I think the only active group of Gold Jumpers is in GL. If you can catch Medemia, you can join the group out in Banff, but I don't think they are doing anything these days... The army clan died out with Mysterio... :(

Ceph, I don't know if it counts as grey jumping if he has no units with golds effects (DSM is useless without DT), but he sounds like a cheater anyway, so I guess it counts anyway. :bigsmile: Much congradulations on Jobber though, I heard he's not too bad.

I haven't posted a head yet... I have ended up fighting mayhem (known grey jumper, lost a battle with 6-4 unit difference, then flawlessed him on my gold for calling me a moron before he left), bonesplitter (lost by 5 units), White Knight (lost by 3), the last two I think were fishing . . . :(

The ones I have beaten weren't even actual grey jumpers, just ambitious new players with the intent to learn, or something along those lines (one guy I actually caught fishing on his first battle ever on that account, so I gave him some pointers and left him unpoached).

I'll post a head when I get one. Sorry for the slow start. :(

Just kick on and ask for Gold Jumpers, we pop out of the woodwork when we're needed (this normally closely follows a quick costume change in a phone booth). Many of the guys have access to the leader account, if they know who you are, they can get you an invite. I can do the same, but I only tend to be around in the evenings...

Used a pyro bomb, with a Witch on the side, and he got really lucky (think three saving blocks with his lone witch, which allowed it to stay into the end game), but I was able to pull it off.

Because my computer is aging and less functional.

Several keys are broken (five and six don't work, neither do the hyphen/underscore and fn/alt keys, and the K has fallen off completely and I have to jam the sensor to get it to work). It also has random bouts of lag, and the touchpad will occasionally go on the fritz. Last, but not least, the crippling spyware problem I have been unable to fix.

Why does this affect screenshots? Well, with most computers, you only need to press "Prnt Scrn", however, my Inspiron 1100 does not have an individual Prnt Scrn button, so in order to take screenshots, I would have to press Fn + Alt + Prnt Scrn, just as I would have to press Fn + Alt for any Alt functions I would require.

I am on this computer about 90 percent of the time, however, since it actually runs faster with games that require Macromedia Flash Player (and because the other computer is often wherever I'm not, since both are notebooks), but whenever I am on the other computer, I take screenshots when possible (like when I finally got a good side match against Allstar and beat him).

His form was pretty weak, very easy to kill. He didn't use his Stone Golem until he had three units left, and the Witch died the turn he used it. I could have beaten him with 8 units to go, but I sacrificed one Pyromancer to kill his Scouts, the other to kill his Mud Golem, my Scout after it helped kill three or four units... The Knight... Meh... Wiped his Pyromancer and brought his DMW and Assassin to within 1 hit from death before he died.

So, basically, I sacrificed some of my units to kill close to all of his . . . Oh, who am I kidding, that was a weak kill. :huh:

I've seen DR knock down ratings in the past, he did it to Stam once when he was being (as usual) an annoying pest. Dropped his rating right down to 200, if I remember correctly. It would be great if sergiy (sp?) could do that for us, but he doesn't seem to be as kindly inclined toward me as DR was (more like he probably doesn't even know I exist). Anyone care to speak with him on our behalf?

Bottom line: Grey jumping is morally reprehensible, no arguement there. However, since it was most likely a grey with 0 gold experiance on the account(as those are the people who use the GL SI Gold Grey account) jumping a known Gold Jumper and all around excellent grey player; it is a lopsided match, though one could argue either ways who was at a disadvantage.

Is Apollo wrong for defending his unknown clansman? Definitely not, especially considering once again it's second hand information, the line was "he didn't seem to have a problem with the whole jumping thing," and the quality of the jumped person. That doesn't mean I agree with it, or that it's necessarily right, but sometimes things aren't always black and white.

But not to worry, Psycho is putting a leash on the Grey Gold account, so it shouldn't happen again regardless of anyones opinion of the matter.

Still I would appreciate if you didn't jump to rash judgements of a clan based on one persons opinion, which isn't even fully explained or considered.

He didnt poach me, i had a stoned archer and a knight, and he had a knight and an assassin, and he politely asked for a draw, since i was retreating back to my lw. I didn't feel like wasting time and drew him, even tho i had a cleric and he didnt.

Also i only had 985 stat at the point, and he had about 900, so i knew i was only going to lose a couple of stat neways.

In my 3 1/2 months as a gold, I have only EVER lost to three greys, and one of them spread the word that I wasn't worthy of a fight... Oh yeah, and that I jumped him, which was also false, because he jumped me.

Luckily, he was only around late at night, but my reputation among other insomniacs went from the kind king of TAO to a grey jumping noob... Luckily, some people stood by me, and we set the whole thing straight. :(

Anyway.

I'm not going to string you up by the neck or anything, don't worry. Just passing on exactly what I was told. :p I'll ask Ceph when I see him.

It i not considered as grey jumping. If the grey asks to get jumped it isnt even funny. When you are jumped by a gold properly and kick his ass, thats the funny part. That should not count as poaches in my opinion.

Brainfreeze, you have done nothing wrong. You would beat him without a loss of another unit. You never were even close to be poached.

GJ started under the expert leadership of Squiggly in Banff, where I met them and joined up with them during one of the many many times that GL was down for indefinite period. I learned the ropes of Gold Jumping with the Banff Gold Jumpers.

When netjak expanded to GL, so did the Gold Jumpers, first under the netjak banner, then as the Gold Jumpers when Glamdring (our hero) made the clan for us. Right away, we had GLers join to make it a proper GL clan (especially helpful, since those native to a server know who the greyjumpers are). I was given leadership of the Gold Jumpers of GL so that Squiggly could dedicate more time to taking care of the rabble on Banff.

Swift later on volunteered to lead a contingent of Gold Jumpers on Armageddon. One of our beloved mods helped us out in making the clan, and it stood for a few months, but Swift could not dedicate the time needed to lead them properly, and the clan floundered and died. Banff Gold Jumpers are also all but gone now. The clan survives under Medemia as long as his gold still exists, but when he is gone, the clan will be gone too. He doesn't play any more as far as I know.

To have the clan expand to Army to thrash some well deserving golds, we would need at least one person who could dedicate a lot of time, and had a lot of skill, to get the clan off the ground. Then we would need to have players native to Army who would be willing and able to come to our banner and our cause. That didn't happen last time though, and not knowing the battlefield, I can't say what it would take more than that.

As a rule, I only post greyjumpers, cheaters, and jerks here. If I played a gold in a match where they accepted my challenge, normally I would not post their head here. By only posting those who exhibit bad behavior, I try to discourage it (negative reinforcement); the flipside is true as well, we should not discourage those who display proper behavior.

If you want to give it a shot, go for it. First thing you'll need is a gullible gold (Jeffery, maybe? :p ) to create the clan, then try recruiting good players over there. In my experience, the best people to recruit at first are the experienced golds, they are sick of greyjumpers who won't play them, and want blood! :butcher:

Be warned though, it takes a while to really get off the ground.

I'm kinda with Swift on that, but it really depends on the player.

Many times I've seen golds trying several times to get a match with another gold, who would rather greyjump or cyber. In frustration, they end up fishing for a game. For the most part, I think this is an attempt to alleviate boredom. I would prefer to see these golds alleviate their boredom on secondary grey accounts, but you can't always get what you want.

When a gold does it repeatedly, especially on floors 1 and 2, s/he is typically hunting for newbies (aka, greys). That makes them greyjumpers, post their heads on a stake!

The soundest way to judge is to monitor their activity for a while and see, or ask them (hey, it works sometimes...).

I see no problem with either of those. Greys usually know what they're getting into, and if it is a newb that comes out, it's more a danger to your stats than helping them. And that's assuming they don't know how to play whatsoever.

My general thoughts were included in the first part of my last post. If you can't get a match by issuing a challenge, then why not fish?

I'm glad to hear that you often do your fishing with a grey form though, that always eases my thoughts on the subject. I've always wondered why someone who plays a tactical game would want a unit advantage though. Gold vs Gold makes sense, Grey vs Grey makes sense, and Grey vs Gold makes a lot of sense, but not Gold vs Grey. Where is the satisfaction in beating someone when you had a significant advantage to start with?

PraXis is a gold and was online and in Daemons clan, BG. So after his game he played me a grey game, I'm really not sure what his goldjumper name is, but he's good enough to be one.

I just had quite a grey game with "I stand alone", you gold jumpers are really good. I did win, but I put him into a very sticky situation with my assassin bomb and ended up taking out his scout, it was either his scout and a knight, or his two knights, but he moved them good so I could only get his scout. I asked for a turt match, and i couldnt get one, so i went fishing on floor 6, and i got jumped by a grey who beat me >.< i4got his name, i didn't really pay attention to it cause it was 750 and the person had just made it. got down to my scout(stoned), knight, furgon and stone golem, and he had 2 knights, and his lw. 1 of his knights was right up against my stone golem, and my furg, both of which were low health, and he ended up out playing me and winning. Good job gold jumper.

There was a 810 (or so) grey who jumped me while I was fishing on FL8. His name was im so high, and he was (what seemed) a pro at grey rushing, he kept shooting at me and my furgon hard, many times they were in threat of dying. But eventually I blocked him off and killed his mages, he said he had to go and left, and that one of the best competitions against random greys I have seen in about 7 months.

I don't jump golds. I only play grays or golds who jump me. I would, however, like to learn how you guys manage to win the majority of your grey vs gold games even when you are always at a disadvantage. You guys are likely capable of beating me when I play on my gold account.

First gold I played, just your average greyjumper or fisher or whatever. Didn't curse at me or anything, unlike the next guy.

Anyone want to beat this guy for me? I'm dying to be taught how to beat decent gold turtles on my gray, but this one especially pissed me off. After beating me, he promised me a match on Rev - Gold on gold. He never showed. I waited 5 minutes for him to show up so I checked GL. He jumped ANOTHER gray. This pissed me off.

good gold turtles are pretty dificult if the guy has half a brain. i payed lonely tylenol and several other gold turtles but i remember our game best i only got 1 MAYBE 2 units but i dont think ive ever beaten a decent turtler

Fishing is legitimate. I tell my members that grey jumping is strictly prohibited, however, if they can't get a gold to play them or just need a game, fishing is allowed (the risks are obvious; get jumped and schooled by a GJ).

I will concede to getting a lot of points between 1200 and 1300 by simply plopping my piece down in "my" space (bottom left corner of floor 8), and saying "Open challenges, floor 8, no noobs". I ended up beating a lot of golds to get to 1300 that way, instead of fighting greys, because I still HAD a reputation as a grey in my newer gold stages, and everyone decided they'd try take a piece. :)

EDIT: I should probably note that this was after a round of asking people for a game, and getting no responses... Golds, you know what I'm talking about. (On that note, Berz, I will be joining you in your crusade against 1400+ golds, as soon as I have the time.)

I'm having fun versing Golds on GL as a grey... But for some reason, they never seem to accept my challenges.. Nor do they jump me.

Rather disappointing really.
