How about when the timer is getting to the final 5 or 10 seconds, an alarm should go off to warn the player that he needs to end his turn? Sometimes, i'll be playing against a player who takes so long to move that i'll fall asleep or go do something else and unintentionally give up on time.

I know what to say.
Good suggestion. It has probably been suggested many times though. No admins ever look here. We might as well not even have this entire section of the forums along with CAU.

Want to hear something sort of funny?
When I first read this thread earlier I was thinking to myself 'Oh GOD! Just pay a bit more attention.'
But! Apparently I spoke too soon (or thought in this case) because it happened to me tonight!
For the first time in 10 months!
Weird.

Gotta say, the idea is good.
Especially for people like me who multitask at timrs.

Twice I have started talking to the person I'm playing, forgeting about the time, and accidently timed out. I think an alarm would be great.

Sounds good, but you'd worry about it being an annoying sound...

Just a simple beep would do.

Or a beep... beep... beep... Dad-ad-UM. (as you surrender for timing out :D)

But the more annoying it is, the more likely you will return to your game and finish your turn just to shut the damn thing up. If it is just a beep it may be drowned out by other music/sounds that you have going on your computer.
