Walrus

Thats right. Someone has taken the account name "Walrus" on banff. Someone who isnt me.
This deed places me firmly in the catergory of "Good enough to have their name stolen", an honor which i am pleased to accept.

I would like to thank you all for helping me get to this stage.

wow, and this whole time i was gonna steal your name next wipe on Banff, just to worship you, i cant beleive i was beaten to it! lol

(by the way, i am kidding about the whole taking your name thing...)
anyway, congrats walrus!

someone stole wolfman on banff without knowing it was wolfman's name

Or so he claims

I don't see how anyone sane would want the name Bottle, so I'm securely in the *good enough to have your name stolen* group. :)

Jeffery

Some of the names are kinda common. "wolfman" is a name I see registered in almost every game ever. It is not unlikely that someone might accidentally choose that name.

As for Bottle, what idiot would take that name to begin with? ;)

DFG

I'm curious:

Are you more famous if you have your actual name stolen, or if someone makes a name insulting you (http://www.tacticsarena.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13680)?

Bottle
12-26-2004, 11:00 AM
Bah. Anyone can get an insult account, just annoy one of the noobs that currently infest the server by saying *go away you noob*. You'll get an insult account made within 10 seconds.

But having your name stolen, well, that's BIG.

Jeffery
12-26-2004, 11:55 AM
Yeah, name theft is harder to do, as you must make it to the server as soon as the wipe occurs.

But insult names are fun too.

Office_Shredder
12-26-2004, 08:26 PM
I've never had my name stolen, since everyone likes me too much for it to happen

But someone stole my clan's name on legends :)

No, cheat has MADE a thread on every forum detailing how much he sucks.

Wolfman
12-27-2004, 12:42 PM
yes guys... u guys r damn right.... wolfman is a very common name in most games.... i am already used to losing my "wolfman" grey accts in GL n Banff to someone else.... even my "wolfboy" n "wolfy" acct got stolen frequently...

hmmmm... let me think.... of a universal name that won't be stolen.... how about..... wolfchicken..... i kinda like it.... especially its inicial.... W.C......hahahaha

wolfy

Walrus

walrus on the other hand, is somewhat..unique.

though on the WoW beta someone already had walrus, wairus (capitalise the i) and wa1rus.

actually, walrus is taken on quite a few games i play, clearly the mongeese are plotting world domination through strategical name theft..

as opposed to boringly funny, or hilariously boring?

nothing personal i just feel like nitpicking right about now

Jonspen
12-30-2004, 04:36 PM
How can it be boringly funny or hilariously boring?

That makes no sense what-so-ever.

Remembering I said it was hilariously funny.

Walrus
12-30-2004, 04:59 PM
yes. the point was that the words hilariously and funny imply the same thing, and that you could/should have simply said hilarious or funny, not both.
anyway it was just nitpicking.

Jonspen
12-30-2004, 05:05 PM
"Hilariously Funny" is a phrase used to emphasise how funny it is.

I don't see how anyone sane would want the name Bottle, so I'm securely in the *good enough to have your name stolen* group. :)

Well, lets see, on my forums there's a Bottle, on Runescape, these a Bottle, but.....alas, theres no other bottle on TAO...I shall stay up till midnight on the day of the wipe, and take your name *evil cackle* ........wait, thats just dumb! why copy Bottle! Anyone can tell your fake if you copy it!

Walrus
01-03-2005, 02:11 PM
i hear gold accounts dont get wiped

Bottle
01-03-2005, 03:10 PM
There's a Bottle on Runescape? Wow. Someone somewhere is as insane as me. A truly terrifying prospect, I think you'll agree.

And it's OK, I don't need the name Bottle anymore, because if I don't get my gold back, I'm leaving. You can have the name, but it'll be worthless, because people will know it's not me.

Jonspen
01-03-2005, 03:12 PM

bludhoundz
01-03-2005, 03:55 PM
But he doesn't have a second gold, he doesn't want to lose his name, and he doesn't want to earn the 1700 stats back all over again. I don't blame him, because as good as he is, nobody would play him until he was like 1500.

Office_Shredder
01-03-2005, 06:39 PM
so he just jumps the noobier golds

Like you!

I'm a match, and you're a candle... burn! :D

Bottle
01-04-2005, 04:06 AM
I don't have enough time to get back to 1700 anyway.

But primarily, I don't want to lose my name. Everyone knows I'm worth 1700 rating, even if I'm only actually rated 750. That's what matters. But if I lose my name when it's wiped, then I'm leaving. I don't want to have to start under a new name; it won't be me if it's not called Bottle. And I'm not waiting a month for it to come free again, and I'm not logging on immediately after the wipe to get it back unless I happen to be on anyway.

Walrus
01-04-2005, 09:17 AM

It's just not the same.

Office_Shredder
01-05-2005, 06:01 PM
no, it's fact. ;)

Walrus
01-05-2005, 06:08 PM
so if i ask people in iceland how much bottle is worth in ratings, they will say 1700?

Bottle
01-06-2005, 05:56 AM
No, you ask ANY veteran from this game what rating I'm worth and they'll say 1600 minimum.

As OS said, it's a fact.

Saying Iceland is just stupid. It's like trying to argue that natives on a caribbean island with no way to contact the outside world should be able to discuss the politics of the USA for the past 50 years.

bludhoundz
01-06-2005, 05:58 AM
Bottle is worth at least 1600. ;)

And my name gets stolen on other servers ALL THE TIME! But my gold doesn't mysteriously cancel.

Walrus
01-06-2005, 08:56 AM
you said _everyone_ knows you are worth 1700.
