there should be like a $25 permant gold thing like 10 on legends but this is better. but if you don't play in a month you get an e-mail, saying you have 7 days to play again and if u get on it starts over...?
If money is the problem, with the amount of people on it i think ads might do some good???
plz don't flame me

your right, money is the problem. TAO just earms more money by charging a monthly fee rather than the one time thing. There's just no reason for them to make a change.
edit: i like that pls don't flame me thing...shows we got the fear of the light into ppl

word.
thing is, TAO takes a lot of money to run, if the charge is $25 for lifetime gold, lots of ppl would just pay it once and never again. The game would then stop making money and have to be shut down. Think of it as supporting the community ;)
but i do think there should be a more long-term payment... wasn't there a $20 for 6 months deal a while back?

i don't think they'd stop making money if they went to a one time payment system (especially for $25, which = 5 months gold). I just say they make more doing it monthly.
I've been a gold for 15 months now, and until this month had 3 accounts going. Thats significantly more than 25 per account. But then again, I've seen wave after wave of golds come, play for a while, become vets, then give their "i'm leaving thread" with the new wave coming in after them. I don't see the ppl playing just up and deciding not to come anymore.
If there was a study to see how long the average gold account lasts here, it might make it more feasible. Since obviously if the average account is in-active after less than 5 months, that might facilitate a need to switch.

wut about the 20 dollars 6 months thing or anything i mean any type of discount, and they would make more because more would pay, quantity can make money come in faster than high prices

when DR was around they had that, $20 cash for 3 months, or $40 for 6 months

Max, that's even worse than $5 a month. That's not even a permanent payment. What everyone else means is like $40 for lifetime accounts.

1.) There was a lifetime account opportunity on rev.
2.) Server upkeep costs too much for one time payments.
Legends has one server, we have four.

no no no, it DEFINITELY wasn't $20 for 6 months, because DR had a +$5 charge because cash took longer to process than paypal . . . and $20 / 5 is 4 months . . . so DR would be losing money for TAO . . . it was DEFINITELY $20 for 3 months and um . . . dunno for 6 months, but it wasnt $20, cuz if it was, I'd screw over my paypal account and save meself $10

It would be a nice bonus for the vets around here. I, like Mega, have played TAO since the beginning(Nov '03). Went gold on Nov 27th. Been a paying member since then, and have had multiple gold accounts on and off for a few months. I have contributed $80+ since I've first joined. It would be nice for vets that have been playing for over a year, or even 6 months, to have a permanent account for a certain server, or even maybe a free month. I know we had the Perma Rev offer, but that wasn't really something special for TAO's committed players.

now now, we both know there hasn't been much reward for loyalty rogue...
not saying it wouldn't be nice, but what can we expect?
and the old mail in means was..
20 for 3 months,
40 for 6 months.

I am sure someone already metioned this, but I was too lazy to read the whole thread.
1. You have Legends if you want perma account
2. Bills just ran a perma Revelation promotion.
