View Full Version : switching top/bottom option in settings
well id be suprised if this had never been sudgested but ive been thinking about this small change for quite some time.
On the setting menu have two arrows(one facing up and one facing down) or anything like that and then whether you jump a person on the top block or bottom you still fight from the possition you have in settings. Some people *raises hand* has learned to play better from one side or have learned to play differently according to if they are on top or bottom.
This doesnt seem like too horribly complicated of a change and I know that it would be quite a convienance

The same thing can be achieved by hosting the tile first instead of trying to jump people from the side you prefer.
Besides, if both people put the same side in their settings, who gets preference?
The person who hosted first? That would be just like it is now. The person hosting the tile gets preference.
first off hosting it is great, but (especaily when playin as a grey) u can challenge someone and both people just chill on the bottom tile until one of us gets jumped by some noob, mabey its me but this seems to happen alot
second off wat r u talking about with prefrence? both people could have the veiw that they r on top or both people could have the veiw that they are on obttom...dont see why the system would need one on each since its probable the same code for both, knight moves up two. thats how it is
and also games shouldnt be faught with handicap so why would it be bad at all if both people were able to go to there full extent?

If being on the top or bottom is a handicapt to you, then you definately need to get better.
There is no disadvantage to being either side, and I cannot think of a single way that it could harm your gameplay. I see no reason to change a part of the game that has no impact whatsoever on gameplay, when things like offield space and username corrections are not being handled.

if both people look at the board from the bottum it wont matter its like people shaking hands, both are using their right hand but for some odd reason they are lifting opposite arms  you turn one so he faces the same way as the other and it become the same side (no way) i dont think this is a needed change but i like the idea

why not just take ur screen and hold it upside down so u can see urself from the top/bottom?
sry, this just seems like a pointless thing. There's no advantage to playin from the top or bottom. ppl who hav that weird preference need to just get over it.

i have a weird preference ...
have you ever played a chess game sitting from your opponents side?
Its the same thing. Theres different ways of seeing stuff just like stuff from your parifaral vission is different from your frontal.
Lastly, mabey you are great enough so that your mentally ambidextrious but it seems to me like a large amount of players arent and while yeah there are more important things to change(like how blocking should be based on comparative percentages with a rising and lowering scale) its a whole lot easier to change. I mean its just a view and I dont think it would take that much time
I may be wrong but just an idea

To build on this further, it might be fun to have the option to see things so that your back row is on the right and the opponent's on the left, rather than top-and-bottom.
Easy enough to do, I'm sure, but admittedly, the added value is not all that great. There are many things that people have begged, pleaded, whined, and asked for ages, to no avail.
