Ok, this is something thats bothered me and I've seen in the TAO lobby a little bit too often recently.

The last 4 times I've been on in Army, someone has asked me where I live, and if they can call me sometime.

No, this isn't that kids thing where they hav their little wannabe yahoo teen chat thing happening here, so thats not the gripe. There was just someone who was curious about other gamers in the lobby and wanted to talk to these ppl.

Now, this is of course your own choice whether or not to give your info like that. But, asking random ppl is stupid! There are crazy ass people in the world (take public transit in any US city...yeah...those ppl).

When I said I wouldn't share that kind of info with some random person in the game room their response was.."dude, its just a phone number and call."
My thought...ignorant dumbass. A LOT of info can come from knowing someone's phone number (personal info, where u live, possible comp info, etc). Stalkers, crazies, dumbasses, all of these type of people can cause you a lot of grief with just knowing ur phone number.

Also, think of this on a more personal thing..I'm a 20yr old college student. I probably don't have as much to be worried about for myself. But I also shouldn't be going out and contacting random kids in the game over the phone. I do aknowledge though that some adults (18+ for those who don't know what an adult is) have contacted each other outside of the online world after being in contact through TAO, and thats their choice. But for you kids especially...psychos, perverts, and assholes live in the world and you should just damn know well know better.

Now, if you've gamed with someone for a while, or been communication with them, and gotten some kind of rappart going, thats a different story. Go with that (mostly for adults I say). But good LORD, wtf is wrong with kids these days. When I went into places online as a teen, I knew freakin better than to give out info like that to random ppl. Did I miss something that makes these kids do this?

*breathe*
rant mode off :)

this has been a Megabyte sponsored rant. If you would like to see more..uh..find a way to annoy me and tell me to post about it.

Agreed, I'm 14, but I'm smart enough not to do that. Sure, a lot of people here know my name, but Whoop-de-friggin'-do, my last name is common. The most I'll give to a stranger or a someone new is "I live in Ohio", which still doesn't narrow it down. Only two forum members here know more than my last name and state, but I completely trust the both of them.

Mega: The new thing nowadays (specially for the yahoo teen chat "Crew") is prank calling. They record the phone calls, and post em on "anti-yahoo" sites. It's funny sometimes, but alot of the time, they're just stupid.

Example: My friend "T", called up Burlington Coat Factory, and wanted to talk to a manager. Manager gets on the phone, and he starts explaining that he returned a coat....but he left something inside (1oz of "trees"). He then starts explaining that he returned a coat, but left the "trees" inside the coat pocket. The manager says he doesn't know what he's talkin about. Long story short, it was hillarious.

For those of you who want to see what an "anti-yahoo" site looks like...check out:

www.ownag3.com

They're lame for the most part, but have some "useful" stuffs on them ;)

I think she means or he, whatever, that when a person battles her they want to cyber and stuff, and she uses it to her advantage to win.
