View Full Version : Repeatedly Booted from games
Conundrum

I realize that if you do things like type curse words or hang around in the lobby for too long you will get disconnected, and this thread is not about that.
I am repeatedly booted from the middle of battles. As of this thread the current count is 5 battles I've disconnected in the middle of. And I just started playing yesterday.
This is not a very good track record.
I truly hope that whoever from TOA that reads these forums is aware of this problem and is working night and day to fix it, because despite the game being interesting I'm not paying money if I'm booted 5 times a day.
Also, why is it that you have to sign up for both the game AND the forums? Can't you just have one sign up that takes care of both? Just a thought.

Cause not all gamers are forum savvy ;)
http://www.digisonline.com/tactics/play/ Try afew matches on that server and see if you disconnect. (You can swear all you want)
A couple thing's I've found...
1. If I get booted more than once in a month I log onto IRC and idle for weeks at a time to see if my internet is dropping connections at odd times. If I stay logged into IRC for 2 weeks I know it's not my internet connection.
2. I download the latest virus definitions from my local antivirus software's site and start the full scan in safe mode. I then run ad-aware and this other spybot software finder. I think all my disconnects have been due to spyware/adware that was running unbeknownst to me on my computer. Well, except for the game I disconnected in the middle of when I didn't pay my internet bill. The connection didn't come back for 4 months...

not sure if this is ur connection type..but its a possible cause so.
If ur using a wireless connection..don't when ur playing TAO. Just not stable enough for most times (in my experience). It goes along with nads thing, u just get dropped occasionally.

Not using a wireless connection, my connection is stable and I don't have any adware/spyware.
Oh yeah, and I tried the link from the second post and have been playing TAO on that other server for a few days now, and guess what? not a single drop.
Guess it's just your servers here. I think I'm gonna stick with that other site.

as a side note and as being something imperrative to the topic...
Most likely problem for disconnects is some sort of intermediary connection between urself and the TAO servers (if ur certain that ur own comp isn't the prob and the servers aren't actually down). With my old ISP, I couldn't play on GL ever because I'd get rampant disconnects there, but the other servers were fine.
Unfortunately...I don't think there's much u can do to fix that.

On the contrary (though you are right) Mega, I once played TAO 3 hours streight on my laptop using WiFi. It is true that WiFi is simply to unstable for things like this that require a continuous unbroken connection for at least 20 miniuts.
Personally, I can't play TAO at all because of where I am. the college I'm at's network for some reason makes the game lag so much (and take so long to log on) that after about 5 miniuts it automatically kicks me off, so I've stopped trying. I'll be back in the fall, or maybe the summer.
There's no lie about 5 firewalls physical and non between me and the outside world.
