Over the last few months TAO has changed a lot. It has grown, with that a lot of new problems like spammers, support issues and packed servers.

We do feel we have gotten a hold of most of the problems, except the spammers which we deal with daily.

There is 1 ongoing problem however. It’s not the game, server or updates. It’s trolling.

These forum which were once a place for open and free discussion regarding, tao and gaming in general. They have now become a haven for trolls. People that have nothing better to do than complain and complain over anything they can.

This has to stop.

If I see one more [tao admin] sucks thread, post, comment ect... that user will be banned.

If a user complains about the ticket system and can not provide a tracking number to back their claim they will also be banned.

Far too many people like attention and scream and cry like babies for it. Others think there is a real problem and think our system doesn’t work when in fact all that user ever wanted is attention. This cycle will end now.

For the 10 percent of forums this applies to… GET BACK TO GAMING. For the other 90 percent, sorry this has gone on so long.

Consider this everyone’s first, second and last warning on the issue. Trolls have been warned.

Honestly, this is what the game needs right now. I found this game on December 3rd 2003, about a week after it was launched. I'm not directing this response in a negative or offensive way whatsoever, so please don't take it as such. What the community here has been needing is some sort of affirmation that we have not been totally forgotten. Your posting in this thread has done that, even though there seems to be a rash of anger venting occuring too. People on this forum have always loved expressing their anger/opinions in ways such as this. I think what everyone is really upset about is they feel abandoned and neglected, and also, there are some cheaters and spammers in the game itself ruining it for others. If there was a moderator with the ability to ban players from the game, 95% of the complaining will stop. I have seen firsthand the ticket system work. You addressed the issue in my ticket in a timely manner, and I am appreciative of that. I for one really appreciate someone (you) coming in the forums and letting us know someone is still out there behind the scenes. And since I've already given you more than my 2 cents worth, I may as well finish :) In my opinion, the best choices for forum administrators you could make would be Tama Drummer, Thirdfloormosher, Hugh Junit, or Northwind. These 4 players stand out by far and away for their decency, maturity, and humor. I've never seen inappropriate behavior, or heard of anyone who doesn't like these 4 individuals. I also think they have the maturity to be able to administrate fairly and effectively.

*EDIT* Bills, there is another problem, Catalyst on Army is a known cheater, and desperatly needs his stats reset or account deleted. There is proof of this on these forums . . .

My sister used to have alot of those actually. I doubt she still has them though, she's turning 18 in March. Actually, I haven't seen alot of the stuff I remember from when I was younger. It's like it all just disapeared...

Anyways, Bills, will there be a server wipe soon? And are you the only one that can do server wipes, or can Rebones and Bo1 do that too? I'm just a bit curious. But I figure as long as I'm not a cat, I won't die. Hehe... that's another thing I remember from a while ago. I remember my grandmother telling me curiousity killed te cat. And I also remember her cat, which was named scaredy, er something like that. And I remember liking that cat... and I don't remember it dieing, but it did. :(

Question... since I only used the ticket system once a way long time ago, by "tracking number" is there a number that you're given when you submit a ticket, or is it something else?

i agree to an extent with bills, there are a lot of attention seekers who will complain no matter what happens. BUT, there are also many people (me included) who think there are some genuine problems with TAO right now, i concur that flaming and whining isnt the way to go about solving this, but bills, you need to recognise that there are problems and try to work with the community to solve them.

This is probably the hardest thing I've ever written on these forums, but...

bills you're right, and I apologize.

I've been doing exactly what you're talking about, though in slightly less direct ways than creating "[TAO admin] sucks" threads. I admit, my feelings are probably very biased, and your administration probably isn't as bad as I make it out to be on a daily basis. However, saying that and changing my feelings are two different things, and I think it will be a while before I stop blaming all of TAO's problems on you. Therefor, I will simply refrain from posting or chatting in the lobby about you, DR, or anything pertaining to the way things work around here, until I can get over myself.

I'm sorry for the trouble I've caused. I know I'm one of the more prominent members of the community here, and rather than acting like it, I've been abusing it. Perhaps my break from TAO was not quite long enough.

But serioudly, Bills. The people of these forums did have a "problem" with the "problems"

It woulf have been much easier, if you complied with these problems quicker, instead of letting our community feel let down.

Dont take this wrongly, or as an insult. But you cant blame everything on us now. As there are a few things still missed out, or you didnt publocally announce so we couldnt know if there was progress or not.

Im talking about the dates and deadlines you set for certain things, and didnt comply.
Im not saying your a bad admin, no way. Im just saying, that if you do things that involve this community, it's best to tell us so we know your doing it.

Also, I would like to confess. I was abit annoying and selfless. I do own up to my actions and for being a pest/troll.

If you have to, ban me. But ban me for the good of this community, not for yourself. That is all I ask.

Not meaning to 'troll', but when i was gold (and still am on rev) i sent a forum upgrade ticket. The email i got saying it was resolved said 'account banned'. I had to re-create this acct, and it never went gold! plz tell me the answer to this question:

Anyways Bills you right and wrong at the same time, yes it is annoying that people will keep pesturing admins/mods on these problems, and yes it is something simple to be fixed, well here's the problem of the problems, why can't you just fix it? I mean come on, it's not that big of a deal, your contract with Seed allows you to treat this game as commericially as you want, i have been experiencing problems with the ticket system seeing as i sent in for my gold account on the forums a week ago, and about gold union, they might be complainers but they make a point.

By making this thread, your just trying to make yourself look more of the bad guy to all these people. So really what your doing is opening a gateway that has potential and destructive possibilites, sorry guy.

Zero tolerance for any cheating of any form is what is desperately needed. People who violate the integrity of our ranking system need to start over or be totally removed for repeated offenses.

Bills, I hate to say this, but you are right in a sense that there has been spamming, but probably most of it is we can't except the change from Divine to you. It's something we were attached to, the system, people and relationship for TAO. I am not sorry for all that I have said, but some parts yes I am. I'm sure that in time, things will become eaiser for us and TAO. Just remember, we are people and have feelings too, you give child a puppy then take it away and kill it, the child becomes sad.

As for the problems in TAO alot of it was explained by Redbones in posts in other places, as well as myself. No one wants problems with TAO, but like everything in life you can make things perfect and fix everything always. You can't compare TAO now to what is was a year ago so we are working on things everyday. We have a new admin and also a new mod just this week.

We do however have a nice system in place and things seem pretty stable at the moment.

No offence, but with all these people how could it NOT be stable from the start?

As I said in this post Moose post a ticket number, becuase in our system there is no record of your ticket or a ticket by your account name...

Oh I agree Bills, you can never have a perfect system, however I don't think it's "un-reasonable" to try and take some time and actually have a chat with all these people directly then posting this to those people in-directly.

I'll submit a new ticket number I guess, seeing as my email that had it is gone :P (stupid 5 day deletion thing)

There is a definate problem with this in the forums, but as it has always existed at a level, and does on every active forum. But if the community gets filled with respected people who were once peaceful and now "troll" that indicates a general feeling of negativity. Now it may not be the fault of the one recieving the complaints, but it definatly represents a problem. Now, I'm going to do a little trolling. Rather than banning and removing all those who will troll, why not listen to their complaints and fix them? If they create a thread and say that the ticket system didn't work and then they outline their problem, don't tell them to send in a ticket, just fix their problem. They may not have sent in a ticket at all and are just doing it to get attention, but if they say that the ticket system did not work, and then you tell them to send in a ticket...that's what draws the trolling. As if you just fixed the problem, then the community will see you as someone who will help those who are too stupid to help themselves. Thus quelling the trolling at least a small amount.

Threating to ban all those who oppose you will make you seem like the brute, or troll.

The only way he could really get on the good side, is to fix everything that is currently wrong. Get up to speed and be abit nicer to the community. We aren't the only Troll#s around here.

More mods wont really help either, all that is accomplishing is covering up with a extra outburst. Abit like when you announced those competitions that ended last year and nobody ever heard of again, yes the ones I keep bumping.

Can I ask, did SlipnoticX get banned for what he said? I thought it was a pretty good post to be honest.

In anyway, Ive dribbled on enough aswell. I already gave my 2 cents on page 2.

Consider this trolling if you will, but it is meant as friendly advice. Your apparent tendency to ban those who criticize you seems to only inflame those who feel that things aren't going well. It doesn't actually change their perception, but rather reinforces their complaints. Perhaps another approach might be more effective.

And, if you will note, I have not been a part of the trolling as I am generally content to sit on the sidelines during this type of thing. However, these endless bannings do not seem to be accomplishing you anything.

We can say all we want about Bills and others on other forums... I have learned that posting on these forums gets you banned. Leave critizing someone to another forum, let's try to get our nice TAO community back into shape and it's old self.

If you want to be a vet, it has nothing to do with post count. There are vets here with less than 100 posts. There are complete noob morons here with over 600. Post count has nothing to do with it. Actually i think I finally figured it out out.. And sadly I might get banned for this humorous view.. But what he does is just log on do a search for the word "m o n e y". and anyone who posts using that word gets banned. I mean just follow bannings and times he appears out of the mist.. whenever that word is mentioned he posts very soon after.. :rolleyes:

Its like he is running a monopoly on the word and not just the funds received.. :p I find it humorous.. and not in a bad way...

As for this so called "trolling" (I'd like to see that in webster's next time they do the new word thing), let's just say I've never been stupid enough to voice my oppinions where everybody and their mother can see it. One thing that I personally would like to see is a better crack down on cheaters/spammers. I've personally reported... 5 I think? cheaters and spammers, screenshot, PMed a mod, the whole works and to my knowlege, nothing has been done. I had about 9 screenshots of one guy... and nothing.

Of course, Bills will never be able to please everybody, so I suppose just please the majority and get rid of *The Nothing*/Catalyst ;)

Ok, yes Bills, you're right there are a lot of "trolls" out there that need to be dealt with, BUT going around threatening people is not the way to do it. You're just antagonizing them. CERTAINLY, you shouldn't squealch opinions, mine/mel's/golds/grey, ne1's. This was a good idea to start, but now it has gotten out fo hand when people can be banned for expressing their opinion. I can't speak for en1 else but i live in the USA where i expect to be able to express my opinion, and i take it as an insult whne someone tries to squealch that. ahve to say bravo for trying to deal with the spammers, but i have to disagree with your assessment that you have most of the problems under control. SO basically, I like the idea, and i applaud your efforts to enact in, but you may have stepped over the line when you crossed from banning cheaters/spammers to people expressing their opinions in a way that does not violate TOS.

Account A gets banned for something then you jump to your Account B to keep going.

This will result in both accounts being deleted and your IP/email to be blocked.

It's pretty simple guys just be cool and play nice with others.

To all Administrators and/or mods,

Please give Cephas a ban. He and I were talking via AIM/ICQ and he thinks his YuleTide carol deserves a ban since it is trolling. I tried unsuccessfully to get him to edit his post and to convince him the YuleTide Carol was more spam than trolling. Since he does not think things through sometimes I am here requesting, on his behalf, a temporary ban. He think the admins would have a delightful time trying to track all of the different IP's he uses, to ban them all, at least temporarily.

I hope this post finds everyone in good health and with happiness.
