Aro23r is clanless but somewhat Elite.
Xerent is Outkast.
Snarr is Outkast.
Realist is Pyro Pyrates which don't exist any longer really.

My moderation philosophy has stayed unchanged for the last three years. I'm for freedom of speech as a rule. I don't want to stifle anyone, though I will enforce the rules of the forum whether I agree with them or not. But I also want to find innovate positive ways to improve this game and this forum. I would like to listen to the members of TAO and take from their good ideas anything I could do to help this game move on a better path.

Confusion sits in.

Someone please enlighten me. How could this young, emotionally unstable "kid" become a moderator of one of the greatest online games ever created? As much as I respect his talent of the game, I highly question his competence as a moderator and a straight-thinker. I think anyone who has read his previous rants and delusional heartsongs, could conclude that the boy needs a good smack to the head and reality check.

Believe me, I'm not attacking your Realist... when I was your age I was the master of clusterfu&ks.

Call me what you will, but I'm also frustrated to see another mod with ties to a clan. I respect every moderator on this board, but am disappointed in the lack of neutrality given on a daily basis. I'm not some paranoid conspirisist, but the lack of integrity shown by much of the staff isn't consistent with my values or the values of netjak. Maybe I'm too Americanized and have put too much faith in democracy, and maybe I have ill-will towards dictatorships and socialistic tendencies...

I didn't realize he had ties to SI until I read that thread about there being 2 mods from SI. Now that's embarrassing... He and I must play at opposite times, cause I think I might have talked to him once, but had forgotten the name. And despite how large his ego is I still think he is one of the few people on here who I trust wouldn't abuse their powers.

1) No one is asking you to be lonely, but child the internet is not the place to find companionship.
2) Thank you for admitting the ties between you too, now can you atleast admit to yourself that it was this bond more than any other factor that prompted you to recommend him?
3)I have never asked for you to leave, as a matter of fact I believe you have the potential to be an awesome Mod, maybe even Admin, But not yet. You have so much more to learn and more maturing to do.

As much as you may feel that I dislike you, this is not the case. I do however, dislike some of your decisions as they do tend to show some levels of favoritism. Agree, disagree or even agree to disagree, it doesn't matter. But before you can mature as a Mod and a person, you will need to learn to separate your emotions for individuals and put the game first.

I respect what you say, but I don't agree with you. How can you trust this guy? Are we forgetting his "undying love" speech? How can you truly say this with a straight face? Burn, you know I respect you and I'm always friendly with you... but this is insanity in it's purist form. Either you are feeding off your insecurity and love how XYX placates your ego, or he has put his feelings aside and moved on. You're a strong person and don't think the first is the case...

Obviously I am closer with Realist than I am with most others on this game. This has allowed me to know him quite well and have many chances to see his work ethics.

I know for a fact that he is one of the few people here who wouldn't allow for favoritism while modding. In other words, if I were to suddenly start throwing the f word around he'd warn and ban me the same as he would anyone else.

His personal feelings for me had 0 to do with my recommendation. I was actually going to to suggest someone else because of his feelings. Obviously though I'm going to suggest someone who I know - how else would I know if or not I trust them if I barely know the person?

There were 2 major things I considered when recommending:
1) Someone who would be able to cover the time frame that I'm rarely on.
2) Someone who I felt would hold entertaining well-organized tournaments.

I'm in my last year of college and have a full time table of night classes (and my ridiculous 8 am calculus class!). This means that I'm on during the day in EST but not the evenings. Realist is the exact opposite of that schedule, which works out perfectly.

When hosting tournaments Realist has often given me very useful suggestions. My schedule is somewhat busy up until May and I thought we could use some added excitement around here.

Finally, regarding moderators in clans:
When I first got my role as a moderator I immediately asked DR if I should leave my clan. He told me that it wasn't necessary as long as I didn't show favoritism.
I have many times considered the option of leaving and have honestly never had anyone other than people in netjak express feelings of being opposed to it.
To be truthful, recent events have made me seriously consider leaving my clan and remaining clanless. I still have not made a final decision on this.

I was going to stay out of this, but . . . then I just couldn't. Favoritism/lack of favoritism, etc. I find I don't really care that much. I don't really have much interactions with mods as mods, nor do most of the non-spamming/non-idiots here. The only time mods really affect my life is when they ban someone that I think shouldn't be banned. I feel they've been better lately than they have historically, so I feel this is moving in the right direction.

As for Realist abusing his "power," I'm not really worried about that either. Should he again say things that I think are idiotic, I will let him know this. However, I will do it in a way that doesn't violate the TOS and I'm not that worried about being banned.

Realist, congratulations. I think you'll do a decent job. (And please know that I will continue to tell you when I think you're full of crap.):)

Well, this is disappointing. Almost every post involving the actual subject of the thread is anti-xyx. Why? Yeah, so he's hyper-opinionated and can be quite arrogant. He is also considerably more intelligent than most all of you, which I hope is not influencing everyone against him. Frankly, I really don't think you're being fair to him at all. I also don't care much why he was selected, as he is a good choice for modship regardless. If you'd talked to him enough in the past, which most of you clearly haven't, you would expect that he will show self-restraint. Yes, he has ideas. Lots of them. But he will not just follow up on any whim of his (c'mon xyx, don't prove me wrong there).

Xyx has been placed in a position of responsibility, at least for the time being. I believe that because of this, he will be exhibiting a more responsible (that is to say, more solid and dependable as opposed to fickle/mercurial) side, one which I have already seen and which you should not assume he doesn't have. Come on. Wipe that distrust out of your heads. Open your minds. Don't pass judgment early, or jump on the bandwagon that's been picking up speed in this thread. Just give him a chance.
