Hi. I haven't been playing tao for that long. But I still have something to share. So, yeah, newbies take a look, and for the pros, plz give me any c & c and correct when i am wrong. And Im a grey, so everything I am talking about is only about grey account.

Ok.

Strategy:

First of all, I see a lot of people doing the "Cleric Hunting" almost right at the start of the game. I think it is just a really bad idea. If you are lucky and you can pull it off before your scout die, maybe your noob opponent would be like "no. cleric gone. Surrender". But of course, you are reading the forum so then you can beat the bigger guys. So my suggestion is that you start off with a bit of mages or scout killing. So then It would be much safer and easier for your scout to kill the cleric, because some of their "big guns" are resting in peace. Basically, i think cleric hunting should only be a mid game think or never. I have won lots of battles against 2 clerics guys without even killing one of them.

now second strategy. The two pieces (prob a scout in it) rush. So like, this time, you learned your lesson and trying to protect your scout with a "tank" (the knight). Yet, one comon mistake is that I think lots of people goes for the wrong target (the cleric again). I think what you want to take out is the BMW or like... the other scout.

Now, i purposely skipped that formation part. Because, i think it is pointless to just give a formation out. I think the way to improve your formation, is to find gd guys to play. you know?.. people in clans or high ratings. So then you can catch a glimpse of their formation and most important how he uses it. The important part about formation is not just where the pieces are, but how the player uses it as advantage for his or her game play style.

Okay. units, i wana skip the part about encantress, BMW, scout, cuz everyone knows they are crazy. enough praises for them.

Now, i found, pyros along with a BMW. is great to defend or fight off a scout rush. Cuz, pyros can basically attack sth 7 tiles away, (walk 3 titles, attack a max of 4 tiles). And same with BMW. So i think most of us should always have a pyros in our formation, just in case you meet someone that likes to do a scout rush, or someone that have things tightly packed asking you to burn him with a pyro.

Okay, here comes the part where i am kinda struggling with.
The effectiveness of a assasin or two assain.

Personally i think assasin is a bit weak. on power and armor and health. Basically I have took her out. So does anyone have any views to use an assasin wisely. And also, can someone give me a screenshot on what to actually hold down to perform that assasin explosion?

not a bad post. you're pretty well on target. As for pyros and assassins, I agree with you. I keep one pyro in my grey form untill I get a second BMW, er witch :-) and i dont use the assassin. The assassin bomb is fun (when assassin life is below 5, get in attack mode, but click and hold the square that the assassin is standing on untill the color goes away, then release) but I generally preferr having the long range of the pyro to finish off retreating units over the assassin's speed.

There are a few effective ways i have seen an assassin used, one is like a forth knight to add to your wall, the only problem is she is a little weak.
The next way is use her to finish off units that your magic units have weakened.
Another is just plain out going for the a-bomb(by attacking your own assassin).
She also works good to distract your oponents scout while you set the scout up for its ultimate downfall.

Thats a really simple and easy to read strategy.

But........ I find the only way to win is to kill all of your opponets units

I have won lots of battles against 2 clerics guys without even killing one of them.

Are you won of those guys who takes really long turns until the other person surrenders.

sadly no. just the ones that gets annoyed even i clearly won the game, and the opponent wouldn't surrender and my ratings gets affected because i "g2g"

well. 2 clerics. Okay. like.. my strategy is to simple do "whimpy" focus damage to 1 piece. Then .. most ppl will just abuse their 2 clerics. and..heal 2 times. and..then.. after they healed. I whip out my big hitters. BMW, knight, yeah.

Iii, a BMW is a luxury car, not a piece in TAO (Dark Magic Witch = DMW). I hate to be a flamer here, but there are plenty of strategy guides that provide solid ideas from experienced veterans, not to mention that their posts use proper English.

gd job. i think lots of us figured that out too. My post is about. How to kill all of your opponent units before they kill all of your units.

"My post is about." is not a sentence, READ YOUR POSTS BEFORE YOU POST THEM!!!!!!!

Here's something useful - Iceage Heatwave's post employed something called sarcasm, no need for you to reply, the sarcasm is self-explanatory to anyone with half a brain.

Usually the maker of a strategy guide doens't ask the question : "How do you do the assassin attack? (Notice the proper spelling of assassin)

Now I'm sure my rep will drop drastically, because many of you think that intelligent conversation is too much to ask for on these forums. I just think that anyone with an IQ lower than a middle-schooler shouldn't be allowed to type. And finally Iii (I'll leave the rest of the post untouched, I'm sure the gross grammar mistakes are obvious), there is a section of TAO called unit details, which says basically the same things you have said here. This post will disappear in a few days (hopefully, fingers crossed), but the unit details will still be there. Instead of faking your way through a "noob guide," just ask people to read those or some of the other wonderful strategy guides in TAO.

Wow. Im sorry. I don't mean to hurt you that much by my typos and mistakes. Then again, I mistaken the Dark Magic witch as Black Magic witch, so thats why I called it BMW. And thanks for pointing it out, but I also think a lot of us know that BMW is a luxury car. Please do not be picky on my "gross grammar" or my bad sentence structure. I am terribly sorry if I offened you in any sort of way with them. Then again, I never said this is a guide. I started off telling everyone that I am noob. I was hoping that people can come to me and tell me that I am wrong in a lot of views. So i guess I can still ask a question at the end of my post right? And well, I do agree that we should have some kind of intelligent conversation happening in forums, but I think asking for perfect grammar and sentence structure might be too much to a chinese guy that just starting to speak english. Then again, I am aware that there is a section in this website called "unit details". I guess a few description of the assasin (thx for correcting me) is basically from the "Unit Details" section, but thats it. And once again. I never said this is a guide.

SO yes. whoever want to get better in tao. GO read other "wonderful strategies" This is not a guide. Just some newbie expressing his thoughts.

(now u guys, get off my back, about grammar mistake and stuff)

No need to appologise lii, KB is way out of line.

KB, use some of that vast intelligence you keep wanting to promote on the forums, and do a few things. First check out his location.. Hong Kong. Then realize that despite what we may like to think here in America, the World still somehow refuses to revolve around us. Those crazy foreigners even have the audasity to speak different languages! The nerve of them!! (since you love to point it out, that was sarcasm by the way... I guess that means there's no need to reply then.) Finally, take that stick that's firmly jammed up our ass and remove it, you might enjoy your time online more if you're not going over everyone's posts with a red pen.

lii, I hope that a single person ranting isn't enough to scare you away. If half the new players/posters showed half the intelligence, reasoning and even grammatical skills the forums would be a much better place to post. Hell, I might actually post occasionally then. Kudos to you, for not only taking the liberty to write down what you've figured out to help out others in your situation, but for picking it up rather quickly.

Now to the article itself... and your debate. I play a dropless grey form, and I don't have a single pyro. I subbed out the one I could fit in for an assassin, and never looked back. A pyros main problem (and all mages for that matter) are their fragility, when attacking half your thought is on an escape route and keeping the pyro alive. An assassin, despite the low hps, can survive a few rounds till a heal unless she's seriously outgunned(especially with her uncanny ability to make key side blocks look easy). Even though she's a weak melee unit, she adds mobility and a damage/delay ratio matched only by the knight. I find her the perfect addition to my weak side of the form (scoutless side) where she can help cut off rushing knights. She's also a great end game unit, due to her blocking and ability to get behind knights.

Basically, give the assassin a shot, she's not for every playing style but she can fit in great with certain ones very well.

I hate to be a flamer here

Liar.

"My post is about." is not a sentence, READ YOUR POSTS BEFORE YOU POST THEM!!!!!!!

I was quite clear to me when i read this post that the writer did not know english as a first language (and note the location given). So cut him some slack! jeez. Who pissed in your wheaties this morning?

Here's something useful - Iceage Heatwave's post employed something called sarcasm, no need for you to reply, the sarcasm is self-explanatory to anyone with half a brain.

See above.

Now I'm sure my rep will drop drastically

I hope so

because many of you think that intelligent conversation is too much to ask for on these forums.

Did whoever pissed in your wheaties also kick you in the head? If you have enough brains to read through and find his gramatical mistakes, you should also have enough to realize that his ideas are pretty good for a newbie.

Ha, you guys are really funny, I agree with Bender (I don't remember your name) on most of it, but lay off on the noob, you could have just told him ot post further questions in the nembie bord.
