It's common knowledge that TN is an awesome player... But that's no excuse for cheating. In fact, it only makes his case worse than all the others... it's not like he couldn't get that high without cheating, he just CHOOSE to do it.

And what he did to wolfy was unforgivable, good player or not, he's not a good person.

We merely stated our opinions, as did you. Ours was based on experience and dealings with TN, your was based on the fact that he's your friend. Now, you defended him without understanding fully why we disliked him apparently. Also, you seem to not have an ideal of casue and effect.

Thats doing something wrong (to me at least). You came out and made this thread in ignorance. You also came out knowing full well that he is disliked. Why are you complaining that you were insulted and neg repped? What the hell did you think would happen? That players would shower you with accolades on your brilliance?

And to reset him to 300 was very stupid and immature, I mean seriously how long did you think it would take a great player to get back up to a higher stat. I do agree that cheating isn't acceptable in this game, but I've seen so many ppl do it that it's becoming pathetic to even lower yourselves down to their level. I am friends with *TN*/Catalyst, but I don't agree with his cheating and he knows it. And did you ever think that he may be treating all of you like crap because you gang up on him and do the same to him. And also, if you actually got to know him, he's a good person. If you guys ganged up on me, I would treat you all the same as well. And again, I don't condone his indiscretions, but he's good even without cheating so what does it matter. In regards about the 5 dollars, come on, are u that cheap that you're going to hold a grudge against him over it. And about Wolfy, I like him as well, but he is straight forward about what he says and even though it might be the truth, he could find a nicer way to say things. I didn't hear about the fight, but I do know that two tempers together bash heads on both sides, not just one. Its not a singular incident. I've observed rude, vulagar, disrespectful, and irresponsible behavior on the part of TN. Its simple cause and effect.

Your wrong to call it a grudge (for most players), or some hissy fit. Its just a reality. If someone behaves in such a fashion anywhere, they get themselves a reputation (not the little dumb number and boxes, a real one). TN has been building his for a while now. Its quite a sizable one. Almost all of it is bad.
His past actions and behaviors are things people don't want to be associated with.

I don't consider that childish behavior, I call it common sense. If someone was rude, disrespectful, and acted in a unfair manner, you wouldn't want to associate yourself with this person in real life. Why should the game be different?

Third of all, it's ok for people not to like him because of the way he acts towards them, it just shouldn't be taken personal. In a game, everyone acts different, it brings out the competitive side to all of us, some show it worse than others, but that isn't neccesarily how we act in "real" life. You have absolutley no clue who these people really are unless you get to know them. He treated me like crap until I got to know him.
Last but not least, you have absolutley no clue who I am either, only few do, so don't judge me by saying who I would or wouldn't associate myself with. I forgive and forget easily because I know this is just a game. It doesn't matter because at the end of the day, I know that all I really have is who I live with on a day to day basis in "real" life and the few friends I do have on TAO. I don't take people's actions to heart, but it seems like most of these people do. All I'm saying is that it seems like this is a childish way to act about someone, when you don't really know who they are.

If you don't want outside ppl replying to something you meant for burn specifically, don't post it in an open thread. Whenever you post something, its open to replies by anyone. I speak to you when I write this post, but I wouldn't mind if other people replied.

To your secondly...I'm not on your case. You stated how you felt and saw it, I stated how I did. If you can't handle contrary ideas and discussion, they don't participate in it. Its not personal, and its not meant to thrash or demean you. Its how people share ideas and concepts. It comes off as you having a high opinion of yourself when you assume its a personal assault at you. I don't take any more time to discuss this than I would any other topic, so pls don't think your getting special attention. Again, not saying this is what you are thinking or meaning, but its how it comes off as. I don't hold anything against you, this is simply a discussion, one of many.

To your third...as I said repeatedly, its not personal. Its simple cause and effect. Like you say, we all react differently. I think its a bit interesting how you say that, but then you thrash on how other people react. And your right, I don't know TN personally, and I don't know you. The reverse is also true. Quite honestly, thats how I prefer to keep it (once again, not personal, its how I treat just about everyone online, whether i get along with them or not).

If TN would like people to get to know him personally, then he should act in an inviting manner. Again, its simple repute. If your known to be rude or to act in a less than kosher fashion, it acts as a deterrent socially.

Lastly...once again, what you call childish, I call common sense. Its just how people behave.

Final notes:
FYI, TN was never rude or did anything to me in particular. I have nothing against him that comes from personal experience. I base how I treat him on how I've observed him treating others.

X-Chromosome, you're right. This is just a game. But it's also more than that, especially to people that have been here a year or more, sometimes even shorter than that. It is a community of friends, and sometimes even relatives, as in real life. The only difference is usually, all, or at least the vast majority of people here will never see eachother in real life. We have bad apples here, we have good apples here. this entire system has been made even stronger through the institution of clans - a group of people who mostly stick together through thick and thin. At least that is what TDP has achieved. I can't speak for the other clans. Within our clan is a select group of members that have made a unspoken, and sometimes even spoken pact with eachother that we will stay a clan no matter what. If TAO dies, we will still be there, though we will admitedly lose many members. To those people, myself included, it is more than just a game. I can't even play the game this entire year, yet I am the most active member in our clan, and I'm not trying to float my own boat. For those of us who think that it really is more than just a game, we hate seeing it fall into dissarray, whether we think the admins are not doing a good job, or whether there's a jerk, or a spammer, or a cheater rampaging through TAO.

I can get over some of *TN*'s lesser "crimes". cheating? fine, whatever. his loss. excessive cussing? he shouldn't be doing it, but whatever. But when you tell someone you're glad they're dieing, that crosses the line.

And I'll admit, he can be a nice guy at times. even offered to pay for a gold for me after I canceled mine, but he was probably just trying to get on my good side now that I look back at it.

You know, while I was reading both X-chromosome and Machin's posts, I realised how childish some people are, no matter how old.

This game is just what it is...a game. Yet people have made friends and they have found people that they can talk to if they're afraid to talk to someone they actually _know_. That's why I play this game. I find comfort to talk to some people when I'm upset and something happens to me, and I also have a lot of fun talking with people, even though I don't know them personally. I think you both have good points. I've been here over a year, and I've watched this game slowly change. Friends have left, n00bs have come, and I believe the quality of new people is slipping fast. All of the friends I have currently, and older players that I've never really talked to, are still just as fun as they used to be. But I have to remind myself: it is just a game. Even though I don't know the people I have to remind myself: they're still people. Just because I talk to them on an online game doesn't make them any less real. So yes, this game is just a game, yet the people and experiences in it are more than just players and a story-line.

what we've seen here has been a somewhat drastic change of heart.
some people whose first opinion of cheating was that it was horrible and a crime, but upon a closer look, cheating hurts the cheater more than anyone else.
but thats just me, cheating is not good, but i think it has been made worse than it is. there are still things crossing the line: i think we all have a distinct outline of those.
but thats just my opinon.
