Knight vs. Knight endgame
When in a knight in knight endgame, there is obviously the luck factor, but there are also moves you can do to lower it, make more moves from the back.
Knighty (http://img67.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img67&image=acrossknights0yt.png)
When in a position like this, you can move 3 straight sideways to either side, or 3 backwards. If your opponent moves his knight one square diagonal to yours, and you have equal health, go to his back, and take a whack. A less experienced opponent will probably go around and hit you in the back, (this is a smart move when you are close to a wall however) while a better opponent will probably move directly adjacent your knight, and take the 60% chance probably, and then move away.
If your opponent is boxing you in like this :

Then your best bet is to move one diagonal, until you hit the outside of the three corners adjacent on the TAO board. Then, their only shot at you is a side hit, and you can always go all the way around, hit them from the back, and their best attack is still a side hit (another option is to attack and move, or move to their side, wait, then attack and move*). However, the back shot will probably result in their moving directly next to you, followed up by an attack and then moving 3 spaces away (this leaves you at 16 health unless you blocked). *is probably a better option if they hit you while you were in the corner, because then you will still have 33, with a high chance of having hit them, and you'll have a safe distance from them.
The best way to corner an opponent when they try to run is to put your knight directly shield to shield with theirs, if given the opportunity. Another way is to flank them with the 'knight move' from chess, and you can box them into a corner (no back shots, but you get the first one). As said earlier, if you hit them, they will probably retaliate and run, or go all the way around and hit from behind, in which case you attack their side and move away.
What matters is getting the first hit; if you get hit second, they'll be recovering and you can hit them down to 16, and they wouldn't be foolish to stick around. If you get hit second, your best shot is to move to their side, wait, and then attack and run. This puts distance between the two, and then if they go after you for another shot, they still have to deal with the luck.
I know this is sort of incomplete, but I'm still researching endgames, so I'll continue updating if I can.
More coming..
