This little Human-Cannon got the 50 attack, offset by no armor, blocking, and 3 recovery turns. He's also got a special ability:
Special: Ultimate Sacrifice
You sacrifice this unit and another one of your units with 40+ HP to destroy one any one of your opponents units, anywhere on the field. You cannot heal the Chaos Mage.

I must agree that 50 power is too much. BTW what is the attack range.
I don't like sacrificing units (Although making you sacrifice 2 of your units for 1 of your opponents ALMOST evens it out. The problem being that you can sacrifice a unit that you have no more use for (Ex: a Stone Golem in a bomb to take out there dragon.) to take out a unit the opponent is relying on to win.

He's pretty much a 1-Turn guy. Killable with any two units. It can't block and has no armor either.

The Sacrificing perfectly evens it out. You have to sacrifice a unit on your side of the field with 40+ HP. For greys, that is either the Lightning Ward, or the Knight, both are essential to use in battle.

Greys wouldn't have the chaos mage so they can't sacrifice anything

So, basically, you can sacrifice a Dragon Tyrant, a Knight, a Lightning Ward, a Furgon, a Scout, or any Golem (all have 60 HP), plus the Chaos Knight, to take out one unit...
...When you can just use the Chaos Mage's attack to do 50 unblockable damage to a unit, finish it off with another unit, and lose only the Chaos Mage (unless you take measures to protect it!)
Hmm...
Wonder which one will be used.
Rushes already have enough killer units.

Pop the Scout once and it's done for.
Anything with less HP/armor combination than a Golem would get whipped in one hit (the highest instance I can think of would be a furgon).
Although, on the other hand, it provides a great counter to the Golem Ambusher. (60 - 50 + 12 - 22 = 0; GA gets one attack)
