After watching cheater by cheater climb their way to the top of the Army rankings I have to agree here. I had a talk with the pharoah the other week. I won't discuss what he had to say, but he does seem like a good person. And I can admit that he is good as well. I thought I had made some progress with him in the area of his ethics of the game. Looking at the past week, I suppose I was wrong.

As of this moment, I know the top 3 spots are cheats. What I don't think these guys realize is that when you become respected as a player, its not because of your stats. I mean noobs may respect you, but the true community knows if you are legit or not. I would rather be respected by those that I respect, instead of being laughed at by them and being praised by noobs and other cheaters.

This is yet another reason why I am tempted to quit TAO. No matter what there are cheaters who are convinced that if they have high stats, no one will want to play them and therefore, they keep their top spot. It's pathetic. I'm sure they're all better than me, considering I'm not even in the top 100, but at least I don't cheat or jump greys. (Sad thing is, greys jump me :o )

When people cheat to get up higher on the list, I feel like catching them in the act. I looked through the list and most people who are in the top 20 deserve to be there, and having three guys who cheat as the top 3 is just disrespectful to the players who actually have talent, and it shows how pathetic they are for attention and respect. If you want respect, earn it. Otherwise it's empty.

Most of you take the ranks and stats too far. Quitting because the ppl on the top of a list cheat? Yeah...real luv of the game there. Take that as you want it.

In all the time I've been playing, aside from the very earliest months and original list updates, there has almost ALWAYS been controversy around people at the top. Its hardly a reason to quit the game.

The idea behind the stating system when its used in its original means (Chess Federation) is to be an indicator in player skill. Not as a means of ranking. If a person gets an inflated number compared to their skill, the moment they play people of similar stat level, it just gets bumped down anyways.

If the players who get the top spots are all cheats. So what? Its just a little list. There is no benefit to being at the top other than your easier to find you name on the list (which is also a benefit of being at the bottom of it, fyi). If it really irks you still, then treat them as you see fit in game (within TAO rules of course).
Ignore them, don't play them, and enjoy the game.

By aknowledging them and giving them attention, they accomplish their goals in getting that spot.

edit: I'm a bit surprised of you code. You've made numerous accounts, gotten them high ranked, then just dumped em for a new one. I was under the impression that the ranks meant little to u.

Aww, come now Byte, im just having a bit of fun. You know i dont give a crap about stats or really about what The Pharoah has done. I just think that out of all the ppl who have cheated to gain the top spot on army, that this was probably the LEAST discrete attempt. I mean how obvious can you make it, lol. No, my reason for leaving is the spammers and the stupid people who give out their passwords. They think they can trust the person, then that guy gets on their name and spams it up. The servers have changed, and I've watched it change for a long time. I came 14 months ago, Aramgeddon has turned into the GL of a while ago...and it's personally depressing.

bah, I fail to see a significant change. The account names have changed, there are more players, and (in what i've played against so far) all of your ranks are a bit inflated, but other than that, it seems the same.

I think you've got what I had, which is just a general tired attitude to TAO. I had that a little while ago. Just take a break. You'll play again.

Who said my leaving was going to fix it? I just want to get away from the server that is...well...pathetic at this time. I spend alot of time in the lobby (talking too much) which is why it bothers me. I can't have conversations with people anymore. I'm probably just going to take a break like you said, I have yet to see someone completely quit the game. They still have some kind of ties to it.

mega you could be missing the problem. low rated players like me(on army) and people who just talk, have to watch several spammers wrecking the chat. plus no matter how many you get banned more come.

although yesterday all three servers were being spammed, army is the worst of them. not to sya that the others dont have huge problems too. its probably the dragon avatar. all the fututre n00bs go to army. for these and many other reasons...

i must declare army the buttcrack of Tao.

im sure its possible to se where im coming from if you sit for an hour or 3 in the army lobby.

i guess some gray must knock him out with a full attack (sb who has 2 clerics)

if i catch him in the arena i ll challenge him, but of course it s gonna be very hard to beat him with my gray account. have you ever challenged him? and what was the result?
