It seems that Realist has no idea how to.
My personal favorite part is when he says that it has a spinning thing.

Here is our convo on him having no clean clothes...he begins by asking me how to do laundry!

xyxaxyz says:
i need some for tomorrow too though! how do you do it?
so says:
it takes a few hrs?
so says:
how can you have 0 ?
so says:
what kind of washer do you have?
xyxaxyz says:
a cube one
so says:
a cube one !
xyxaxyz says:
with a spinning thing
xyxaxyz says:
inside
xyxaxyz says:
and lots of water
xyxaxyz says:
and detergent

Well, aren't they all cubed for the most part?

I guess mine is more rectangular shaped.
It doesn't have a spinny thing though...it's a front loading one.

Well! If you always wash your whites with darks they will gradually turn less white.

Also, when you first get a new pair of jeans etc. that method can be quite traumatizing.

Yes.

But guys simply don;t care. Except for business attire, the rest can just be mixed randomly.

I have to do my own laundry. I do everything that benefits me on my own. And I'm only 14.

Front loading washers are more economical and more advanced than top-loaders, but Americans are loath to bring them into widespread use because of the need to bend over farther in order to load the washer. Crazy, eh?

im gonna tell all you ppl how you do the laundry

1. Gather all dirty clothes, socks, underwear, bras etc etc...
2. Seperate the colors. One pile being dark colors/shirts that have large amounts of colors besides white and the other pile is white clothes, socks.
3. choose one pile (usually the white)and put it in the washer.
4. Add a measured amount of detergent (see detergent box/bottle for amount). The larger the load the more detergent.
5. set the timer to the correct time (usually around 40-70 min) and set the type of wash (usualy cold).
6. press the start button. (sometimes its on the dial that sets the time, if there is not start button pull up or push down on the dial)
7. let it wash (dont forget to close the lid)
8. repeat steps 1-7 for the second load of clothes

now this is how you dry clothes

1. take both loads of washed clothes (color and white)
2. put them in the dryer.
3. add a softener (it helps)
4. make sure the lint filter is cleaned off, if not clean it by removing the lint
5. set the load amount, the time (usually around 70 min), and the other choices (light, heavy, tumble dry, spin dry etc...)
6. press start or pull/push dial. Wait for it to stop drying

Jeffery
03-02-2005, 11:42 PM
If you are doing whites, use hot, or at least warm water.

Even colors should use warm/cold. Only new clothes need washed in cold to set the dye one last time.

Washing stuff in cold water is toning down the quality of the cleaning itself.

Also, most wash cycles are 12-20 minutes. Dryer cycles are the higher ones.

GreenS@murai!
03-02-2005, 11:44 PM
hmmm i never wash my clothes in warm....whats the difference. and 12-20 minutes? the time depends on your load doesnt it?

Jeffery
03-02-2005, 11:51 PM
The difference is how clean it is.
Do you wash dishes in cold or hot water? Do you wash hands in cold or hot water?
Hot water cleans better, due to the fact it excites the dirt molecules and allow them to be broken up easier.

And the only difference the load size matters is how much water gets put into the washer.
And timed cycles are smaller than what you gave. Permanent Press is easier to use anyways.

They do a much better job on the clothes too!

I really love mine !

Thanks Jeff. This has been a learning experience.

My mom always separates light and dark AND warm and cold. So in an effort to cut down on the amount of work I had to do, I've always washed everything cold. I figured while warm wash stuff can't be hurt by being washed cold, cold wash stuff can be hurt by being washed warm.

Perhaps I've been wrong all along. Maybe I'll ruin some cold wash clothes tonight, or maybe I'll start cleaning my clothes more efficiently all around. :)

My basement has 1 front load washer and about 5 top load ones. The front load one can do more clothes so it costs more 0_o (I live in apartment building, they embezzle your money through laundry).

I can sort of do laundry, but I just wait for the cleaning lady mostly (I have so many pairs of clothes that I can go a long time without needing to do laundry).

Could it be because they are more expensive? I highly doubt that any american would make that decision because its easier to load it in the top than the front; unless they have a medical condition where they can't bend over.

I think front loaders are better because they rotate on a horizontal axis... meaning clothes go from top to bottom when spinning... Which is better than a top loader because the clothes at the bottom stay at the bottom, those at the top stay at the top and because gravity would push the cleaning liquid to the bottom they clean inconsistantly between the garments in each wash.

I'm no washing machine expert i'm just guessing :p

Jeffery

Commercial front loaders are even more awesome.

You can do all your laundry in one load.

I've been doing my own wash for a while now since my mother (who used to do my wash) got annoyed at me complaining when none of my clothing was ever washed, since I barely have enough clothing for one week. We have both a front loader and a bottum loader (not sure if that's actually what they're called). I use the front loader.

We used to get in the big dryers at the laundry mat, and see who could ride it the longest.
