This has been mentioned numerous times. It happens, there is not much you can do about it. However a stat loss if you were ingame, is not uncommon.

If you don't want to lose so many stats, don't battle people who are so far lower than you. Play people of your stats or higher, and you'll only lose a few, in the event that it happens again.
