Look at it this way folks, it costs you 5 dollars for some of the following:

Bonus Units, Recorded Stats, Unique personalization of your account and having the status as someone who is supporting the FLASH development scene.

This will last you an entire month, whats more if you put anymore than 1 hour into this game this investment would of been worth it.

Its strange how people can go to the Arcade and blow double or triple the amount of a TAO Gold Account and feel ok about that yet they can consider cheaping out of something like this. It costs like a dollar now to play a typical "Street Fighter" game that lasts literally a few minutes, those driving games cost even more.
