Now, I may not have been playing long, but I have loads of experience designing units for games (specifically roleplaying) that work well. So, I figured I might as well give a few ideas.


Spearman
Low armor and deflect, low speed, two-range attack that hits for low damage. However, this attack ignores allies (so you can have a formation like this):

[X] [O] [E]

Where X is the Spearman, E is an enemy, and O is an ally. In this case, the Spearman could hit. This ability extends in each direction, but he cannot hit on diagonals.


Paladin
Kind of like an improved version of the Knight. Slower (2 square max) but Deflects at 90/80/50 for Front/Side/Rear. Hits for 25. Has 70 HP. Can only hit the squares around him.


Reaper
Like an Assassin, however, hits in a circle instead of an X. Damage is a bit higher, however, low HP and deflect- essentially, a suicide-unit. VERY fast. Able to attack by turn two if done right.


Zombie
1 speed, 10 damage, no deflect... but 500 hp! Marches relentlessly across battlefield, no real threat but just forces the opponent to move.


Wall
A Wall is like a Ward, however, it cannot do anything. They have more HP, though. You can physically hurt a wall, but there can be two variants: Palisades (wood) that have approx. 50% deflect on all sides and 60 HP, and Barricade (spikes) that have 50% deflect, 70 HP, and an effect that hurts people when they strike it in melee.
