Well, at least it's not horrible. It is, however, unoriginal. This concept has been done many times before. They were all much better, might I add, than this one.
Nice starting unit, though. At least it's not total crap.

Go to "edit avatar" in user CP and choose a different one in the database. To get a custom avatar, you need to be gold on the forums, like me.

First, get a gold account on the game.
If you already have one, or once you do have one, go to "support and help desk" at the top of the page. Send a ticket in with your forum name ane paypal account number.
There, presto!
