View Full Version : Blocking Question
I put this on the newbie board because I'm a newbie again. What happened to blocking? I hear different things about how blocking has changed. Will someone be so kind as to fill me in please?
Oh by the way. I guess I should introduce myself. I'm nads, and this is my newbie post.

Well people complain about blocking, even me ( a lot :p )
But I have come to the conculsion that blocking is the same. The computer doesn't know how many times we will try and hit that unit so what it does is takes percentage and uses it throughout the game. If you try and hit a knight frontal 10 times, the computer records the amount of times you have tried to hit it before and probably uses that to see if the unit's percentage matches how many blocks it has so far. Sometimes it's unfair and you get a witch that side blocks then front blocks, but if you go in on a frontal again, the chances will be that it will not block, not for a long while during that match again. I might be wrong, but that's my best guess.

from what I understand, the blocking is basically the same except extreme statistical variances are toned down. I mean I have seen mage blocking runs less and less. Key blocking (or non-blocking) incidents are as expected from independent randomization events. I think perhaps that though blocks/non-blocks may affect subsequent attacks, there is no actual running counter. That would just be too much of a hassle. I'm not really sure either way; I'm just guessing what seems to make the most sense.

Here are some changes made in preparation for new additions to the game over the next few weeks...
You can now enable/disable the "Mud-Quake" browser shaking effect by typing /fx
Random blocking has been modified to eliminate extreme inconsistencies.
In anticipation of upcoming updates, you may no longer place more than one Scout on the field at a time.
Extra Scouts have been automatically moved to your off-field or new recruits area.
Do not dump extra Scouts, as they may still be valuable in future events.
Assassins and Furgons have been added to unit drops.
Furgons are rare, and you may not place more than one Furgon on the field at a time.
Taken from Legends website. Though the last two updates were not implemented here, the /fx option was, and I would imagine the blocking has as well.

It was done here at same time as the Ass Blaster was added.
It simply cuts the two extremes of blocks/not blocks down, however, it also seems to have made the pyro and witch want to catch a first hit block more often.

The blocking system sometimes was giving out ususual responses to the gameplay, this would mean that a pyro could block 3 times from the side in a row, it's now fixed to factor out the game a lil better, but nothings perfect.
Ok, thanks everyone, I think I got it now

Why wont we just call it the A-blaze (ablaze = to burn in flames with others)?
I think Ass blaster sounds better than A-blaze...

Blocking is all about percentage and chance. The furgon, for example, has a 50-50 chance of blocking from the front. A mud golem can't blobk, therefore it won't block. And knights are basically untouchable from the front with 80% blocking. I hope this helps. ;)

I suggest not answering questions that you don't know the answers to.
