What your favourite thread? Besides this one, mine's the TWS...

For god's sake people, every thread on the first page of GD is rubbish. This is exactly why the forums are no fun to post on any more; no good posters are making threads, and only the n00bs (such as myself) are. Favourite this, favourite that; rate this, rate that; which is the better unit (IT'S THE SCOUT, FOR THOSE WHO ARE STUPID)... when are we going to get the good old posters back and have some interesting threads again?

1) Like aro said, making a lame thread yourself helps nothing at all. It's just pointing out the obvious! Quit whining about not having any good threads and make one yourself (you seem to be confidant enough in your abilities as a 'good poster'). No, this one doesn't count.

Unfortunately Botts, I've got to agree with you here, even RD has been terrible for the last few pages. It seems like we may just have ran out of things to talk about after all this time. Be that as it may, I'll try to come up with something to peak your interest, if I fail miserably, well, it really can't be any worse than the rubbish that is being spouted around here anyway.

Yeah bottly, I have no idea. If someday I think of a solution, I'm sure you'll all know. Part of the problem is that the good posters know when to make a thread and when to just stick to the ones already in existance, and the noobs don't. And since we currently have as many noobs as good posters (and really the ratio doesn't have to be that extreme for this to happen), we're getting swamped by the crap threadmaking.

Unfortunately, other than ceasing to be a nice community, I know of no way to make it stop.

If we start making as many threads as them in order to stem the tide, it will not necessarily mean that the threads are better. There just needs to be a LOT less threadmaking in general.

Hmm... perhaps we should call for some sort of regulations on threadmaking, eh? For example... you can only make a thread if you have at least 500 posts, or maybe even figure rep in there somehow.

Actually, the reference there was to the NJ thread, not to posting in general... I had said I wouldn't be posting there again, so I felt my posting under a different name needed some explanation. Of course, Prophet, I knew you'd be petty enough to then go running around the forums looking to willfully misinterpret it... :wink2:
