Hello. I have come today bearing GREAT news! I have found a FREE, yes, FREE photoshop program. Now, it isnt EXACTLY photoshop, but it's pretty close. The only difference i've found is the name. It's called GimpShop, a hack to the original Gimp program by Scott Moschella. You can find it at http://g4tv.com/thesarahlanefiles (Yes, I did see it on Attack Of the Show.) Or, You can find a direct link at http://plasticbugs.com/index.php?p=244
Now, If you already have photoshop by adobe, this is not necessary unless you just want to see for yourself. Hope ya enjoy it!!!

If it's based on Gimp, it could actually be pretty good.

Maybe I'll check it out when I get home. I've been using an old pirated version of ps for a long time now, and I almost feel kind of bad about it.

It is a gimp "hack", however perfectly legal.
Hey, can you send me that pirated version of ps via attachment to rgw556@hotmail.com? It got me interested....lol...

Yea, but it still functions the same. Where a menu option is, and what it's called isnt considered a difference.

Not what I was referring to. It doesn't have the features. It has many of the basic ones, however the more complex are left out.

My advice is not to talk about piracy on public forums. It could get you banned or worse. If you want to email or IM somebody then more power to you.

If you want a high end photoshop equivalent, 100% pure legal, with out GimpShop's bugs
http://www.gimp.org/

Also, Gimp has a few tricks not even photoshop has. And is much more stable than the hack version.

Is this any different than this (http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/)? And do you still need to download the GTK+ 2 runtime environment first?

Jeffery

That is the windows version autoinstaller of Gimp.

So, is the GTK+ 2 runtime environment included in the installer?

Jeffery

No, but is is on the same page as the Gimp installation. Download both, load the GTK+, then Gimp

I suppose I really should get on top of downloading gimp. I just always say that first I want to actually install linux, and that's been slow in happening.

Yes, which is why you stick with the real Gimp.

Seph, Gimp is 100% free. Just download it from the Sourceforge site. One of the limitations Sourceforge puts on projects hosted by them is they must be free. http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html

"You must spread some reputation around before giving it to Jeffery again."
Damnit, you really deserved good rep there.
