Today the Clan Websites Top List was reset. All clan leaders may register their clan sites.

Keep in mind that your site will appear in the list only after we manually check it. We will accept only high-quality sites related to TAO game.

It is about the toplist on TAO site, not about looking for free hosting and creating clan sites, if you havent noticed.

Krome, many people have registered Freewebs sites with the Clan List. If you can;t figure out how to register a site using the toplist, then you don't need to, trust me.

The pass through was a good addition to let people 'decide' if they meant to click through, unfortunately the users are smarter and there are new java and dhtl cheats.

Find the site that auto-chooses "5" rating no matter what you try and pick, and refreshes before you can click "rate".
Find the site that creates an invisible pop-up that adds 'outs' without the user navigating from the TAO clan website list.

Just two easy ones I found within the Top 10's.

Just go to most, and check out their ratings and vote links.
Just that will show the obvious ones.

But since you are asking. YOUR own website only allows people to rate for 4 or 5. Your webmaster edited the code to deny people the ability to rate you less than good unless they do it from the TAO Clan list. Hardly fair play.

If you want to go deeper, view source code of their entrance pages and/or their main pages. You'll see the differences between the TAO supplied code and their changes to benefit them. And no, I am not talking about appropriately renaming options like 5=DragonFire Rocks and 1=DragonFire SuxXors... more like java or dhtml that autochooses 5 no matter what the person picks.

One was recently changed but it opened a pop window with frames and in the pop-frame it clicked through to the website as if coming from TAO as an "out" , then the frame closes in a blink of an eye. You can also do it without frames with the right code, but they did not know it I guess. Unless you are really paying attention, you would never see it. I used to do coding as part of my job, so I tend to notice these things even if they are almost instantaneous.

Then, if you really want to bother (and I dont anymore) get into their forums and look for "direct code" for members to click to expedite the process in the most beneficial way. Mostly these are hidden in members only areas now. When the clan websites system first came out, a couple had them in the open and were quickly found out.

Just interesting that people can not seem to just play fair and let the chips fall where they may.

As long as the system has been around, clans have been altering them to try and boost themselves to the top.

It just speaks of the clan member that does it more than anything.

The funniest part is that the last time I mentioned 'cheating ways' the other people to 'challenge me to point out people and prove my claims' were ALSO the same people manipulating code. Cracks me up.

Personally, I'd really like to see a removal to the whole ranking on the clan pages and just have a straight listing.


Its a constant dissapointment that groups gotta continue to abuse the setup, so why have it?

if the clan's are willing to go to the effort ot make a site and list it, what does it matter how long they've around? I'd rather join a noob clan than half the ones on that list, and some of 'em hav been around for a loong time.

No it's not.
They reset it because it reached the maximum number of sites accepted. It would not accept anymore sites.

So actually, the old ones were reset SPECIFFICALLY to allow for the new ones.

And that doesn't mean your clan is so special that you have to cheat the voting system.

I explained how the rating could be misused and my 'adjusting' of the code was valid. You saw something in that, that at first I did not. Granted I never believe anyone in my clan would cheat so I don't think negative like you who seems to constantly look for the loopholes to better yourself. Even though I disagreed with your philosophy I removed the rating entirely to show that I don't promote cheating in any way.

I too would be glad to see clans in order of their creation date. Be nice to see Kotr, Si, PP, KwOmaj, ViS, Demon Hunters League, Something Wicked, and BG back at the top of list.

'Cheating, manipulating, adapting". All terms I used. Those terms are based on my personal belief that not using what was provided in the spirit in which it was intended is wrong. You can feel otherwise, and it is no skin off my nose.

I already admitted and explained why I removed the lower options and when you made the devil's advocate point about any possible cheating, I replaced it with the direct link. We didn't need the rating, we wanted to provide a way for people to get to TAO and get credit for it. It was only set there as another way to reach here. The 'spirit' of the rating was to get people here.. at TAO. Which I believe we did a great job of doing.

And our link in our forums, yes post that too.. Yes OUR fourms for OUR members. That even spelled out what the link went to.

There is no crime in testing code to see what kinds of results one can get. If you go through those posts you will see tons of people asking how to get the clicks to actually count.. meanwhile DragonsUnlimitedProxyClicksFire continued to soar through the sky. You obviously found something no one else did and exploited it.. and when you were caught or worried of being after accusing everyone else.. and trying to push the attention elsewhere suddenly your great 500+ clicks a day suddenly stopped... amazing. :rolleyes:
