Basically my strategy is pretty simple. There are certain aspects when playing a game that are way more important than other aspects. I like to think of them in a list to follow. 1 being most important and so on.
1. Preserve your units for as long as possible. This means dont send a knight out on a solo mission unless u know a greater good can come of it (I.E. killing opponents cleric) Never use weak magic units to spearhead an attack because they will always be killed and then you're F*ed.
2.Take out enemy Scout. The enemy scout will cause you no end of grief it IS the best grey unit and can be used extremely effectively by a good player. It is pretty hard to kill with 4 movement decent blocking and a cleric heal. Your life will be much easier when the enemy scout is gone.
3.Kill the units with lowest blocking and HP first. For grey's this is usually the enemy DMW or Pyro. Unless you have abismal luck your scout should be able to pick them off from a safe distance, or you can pair him up with a quick and mobile assassin to finish off the job. Assassins are pretty expendable and you may even get to pull off an assassin bomb if you are really careful. Use barrier wards to protect these units while waiting to move again.
4.USE YOUR GOD DAMNED CHANTY INSTEAD OF A PYROMANCER!!!!!!! Even if you dont move ur chanty untill the last moves of the game the enchantress is the most valuable unit on the field. If you have killed the enemy scout and pyro (maybe even DMW) then the game is basically won. Coulped with a barrier ward this combo is deadly to any unit with only a knight's range.
5. Make your Setup versataile so your opponent doesnt know what you will do next. Use your knights as protection and keep any magic units well back so they dont get Fried by a LW or hit by a scout from far away. Keep a good balance between offence and defence and the assassin becomes a better unit than you think.
6. Practice with your setup and different tactics. instead of trying to kill the opponent all the time try to get them to attack you. Use your scout to bring out one or two of their units. Barrier it then whack away at anyone who dares to cross that center line.
Well thats basically it. just remember when you're in a game:
1. Keep units alive
2. Kill enemy cleric
3. No Solo Missions (unless its worth the loss)
4. Kill enemy scout
5. Kill enemy Mages
6. Kill the next unit easiest to hit
7. Keep chanty alive to paralyze Knights near end of the game
Take what you will from this strategy guide of mine. It works pretty well for me against other grey players. Please take the time to learn how to use the enchantress and Barrier Ward Combo because it really works well but only if you know how. oh yeah PRACTICE LOTS! Cya
