Grey Tag Team Final Round

Finally! The finals. Let's aim to have this finished by the end of the weekend!

Every team will be fighting the other two teams simultaneously and independently; the three matches will be taking place at the same time.

If one team wins both of their matches, they win the tourn. If all teams win only one match, the team with the most units at the end of their winning match wins the tourn. If there is a two-team tie for most units, the enders of the two tying teams will fight each other with the units they have left. If there is a three-team tie for most units...I'll decide what to do then.

Well, that was a reasonable game.

Opp side turtles, his more set up for same side though. His flank is very weak, so I go for it as quickly as possible... in go 2 knights with scout support. He takes a risky shot with his scout, and I reduce it to 10 and barriered... I get overenthuasistic slightly... and go after the scout too much. Upshot is that I lose 2 knights and witch to get scout, and put his chanty and cleric in danger. It must be said that he conducted the defense very well, especially collapsing his form down to protect his chanty and cleric long enough to get my invading knights, but was aided by 1 block all game for me (he only had one himself, but that was because I didn't take any shots with < 30% chance of hitting).

Eventually, I get his cleric and chanty for my assassin, and my scout is on 2. I retreat the scout... if it makes a side block I win, if not he wins, and neither of us could win by much. The scout doesn't block. I get the witch with my last knight, and (with still no blocks) lose my remaining knight. Even the chanty can't beat 4 melee units... I surrender. But Fry should be able to beat that with no problem at all.

Draquist, as decent as it is of you to try to defend your teammate, I think it would help your credibility if you wouldn't defend him to all ends. I'm not confident he wasn't taking the dc thing seriously due to things I've seen of him in the past but I can give him the benefit of the doubt on that. My dislike of him is not at all limited to that incident. You were THERE when he said "F U" right at me. I don't get why you don't have a problem with that.

Well...i cringed as i saw i got opposite sides with burning when i tried to remain turtled with my remaining 7 units. She came on the attack first and it cost her a knight with me losing nothing. After 2 hideous front shots on her knights the game ends.

It started out ok! Draqqy was playing like a girl, which was necessary considering his few units. He got 2 front knight hits (out of 2 ugh) and killed a knight.
After that, I have no good excuse. I'm visiting Realist right now and hadn't eaten in nearly 24 hours. I should quit making excuses!

Well, I should have won my match with Draq. However, I did make some REALLY stupid moves without thinking them through, and we both had VERY unexpected blocks on both front and sides. Including two front knight hits in a row on me, which killed one of my knights. Draq played well tho, and i'd like to tell him good job. Burning, and Realist, sorry if I failed you guys, or let you down in some way. Wasn't my intention I assure you, just wasn't playing my best.

TN..the luck wasnt the problem on your half..end game..sure he had better luck..by that point it was over, and you were just fighting for more units..so to say you would have won is definately incorrect. Honestly, in my opinion your lucky to have gotten as many units as you had..in the beginning of the game he missed something like 7 straight side shots while you hit 7 straight..I mean..the game started off with your witch blocking, then two moves later you front shotting his scout. His late game front shots he did hit, he took around 6 total throughout the game i believe..and the two that hit were not back to back..its still definately against the odds but not as much as you were claiming all in all you got the overall better luck but he simply outplayed you during the game man..as you admitted yourself, some bad moves were made. Now, for what happened against Julia..Draq by far got more luck.

well.... at the start, Darque got first turn... but his set is quite strange n it took me a while to get in. He was getting all my units with his lward.... my assasin fell first... cuz darque made a good "fake" flank but i cant do anything but go along with it.

middle of the game.... his units: scout, assassin, bward, 3 knights; mine: scout, chanty, 2 knights, lward, bward, cleric. About 20 - 30 mins of chantying.... killed his scout, one knight n assassin in process; got my chanty killed in process too.

end game: his 2 knights of HP 16 n 34, mine: HP 50 n 31. knights fight begins. (my lward still standing tall)

very end game: his knight HP 16, mine: HP 14 n 17. Darque knight got cornered.... he went for a frontal attack n my knight blocked... my knight hit him on the side.... game over... (note: even my knight miss, i hv another one ready to kill it in the back).

at a certain point of the very end game: darque mentioned a draw, i told him that no.. cuz if we draw, i will get the "win" cuz he went first turn. (we both r the last ppl of the team)

Actually, one saving side block was all he needed to completely ruin my Cleric's junk, and from there he absolutely refused to give me a second chance at killing it, successfully thwarting any cautious attempt at killing his Scout.... I knew I couldn't completely defend against the Scout, so I decided instead to kill it and failed with a side block right before it could attack. Bummer.

Well! This is sort of what Realist wanted? He wanted a really weak third player. It turned out TN was better than we expected at grey.
So the fact that he lost by 7 to Draq should have been expected.

Sorry for losing so many units in my game :( That double front knight hit + kill ruined me. Along with all of his side blocks etc. ugh...it was honestly disgusting.

It is quite conceivable that by the time it reaches the wolfy vs. Realist match, RSB will already have beaten BHL (I'm not saying this will definitely happen, but I just can't see how even TB and Realist can overturn a 20-17 deficit), and if they win by a large margin, Realist would have to beat wolfy by more to win. In fact, the final match could result in 3 things: a win for wolfy means RTT wins; a win for Realist but by less than RSB beat them by means RSB win; and a win for Realist by more than RSB beat them by would mean BHL win...

I will not be able to be online AT ALL during those 5 days, except for at about 12 noon my time, the middle of the night for *TN*. Here...let me do a short little mini-synopsis of the game. But before I start...if you choose to neg rep me for telling the actual events of the game...that is on you.

Well we had opp sides which was pretty cool. And Burning got first turn. I knew it would be a long game. My thoughts were correct. Especially when burning decided to do nothing but pass turns. Since forcing a draw is not *against the rules* then TB saw fit to pass every turn. Of course being the honorable player I am, I decide that her forcing a draw is not the way a tourney should be decided. Instead I lost my one of my last 2 knights. After that...TB had a change of heart. She decided to start attacking! This was great seeing as she had 2 knights and a scout to my half dead and barrierd chanty assassin and knight. In the end, she won not because of an incredable eventful showing of true TAO skill, as you would expect from a 6 vs 10 unit upset, but because of an underhanded and dishonorable tactic that I am sad to say is still used.

Let's all flock to TB and congradulate her on a job well done. Let's all post saying how amazing she is. Let's create a national holiday for this *honorable* achievement. Or we can do what Mith is doing...we can plant our lips firmly on her ass.

Or we can just take a minute...realize it is just a game, and continue on with our lives and try to have a good time. I am not mad that I lost. And I apologize to RSB for losing.

Blame SW. Blame me for costing us the tourney. Blame me for having morals and an opinion. But more importantly, blame me for doing the honorable thing.

I played like dooky and lost, even though I could have attacked with my 10 units. With her 6, she couldn't have formed an effective wall against a concerted assault, but I marched my guys in there 1 by 1 and let her snipe at me. I also let my scout get caught by her chanty. Sorry draquist.

The fact that you think I was aiming for a draw is quite silly.
I had 6 units...you had 10.
It was opposite sides...how else was I supposed to play other than defensively?

The events were actually as follows:
I used my enchy to trap his scouts and knights and then he brought out a witch to kill my ench.
I killed his scout in the meantime and also got his witch. So it is now 8 to 5.
He moves in an injured knight and I kill it on a frontal (he did get a frontal though too...so it was even in terms of luck)
SW runs away to heal and I do the same. This is where he starts to think I'm trying to force a draw when in fact I was just trying to heal + play defensively since he had the unit advantage. He comes in with a knight and manages to escape. He heals a bunch more (funny since he was telling Mith that I was the one running away and healing)
SW decides to come in with his knights and assassin. I kill his knight and he runs away yet again. I begin to attack from this point on as he runs away.

Need I go on?

I won off of pure skill. You accuse me of running away yet you did the exact same thing once you didn't have the unit advantage anymore.

Or, if not a total win by default, just a pass on that game. tb and realist have stated many times that they wanted a weak 3rd team member. Maybe have Bottle ditch 1 or 2 (at most!) units and have him move on to play tb. That way, no one loses by default except Mr. no-show, and tb and realist still have a fighting chance to make a comeback.

Of course, exactly what, if any, units Bottle would take out is a matter of discussion, but this potential solution avoids any team losing by default due to only 1 member.

I was merely stating the facts at the time...

Anyway, we played again. (After he got a dc, I'm generous enough to let him off on that one.)

Early game went well, he helped me prime my a-bomb, and I barriered the assassin. He moved up his pyro and barriered it to stop me from a-bombing his scout. I eventually took the pyro with my witch... and had to take a chance. I barriered my witch, leaving the assassin open to a front shot. It hit. Ugh.

We traded witches as well, so it came down to 3 knights, scout, chanty, cleric and wards on both sides. he suicide rushed a knight, but my defense held strong. I killed the knight, but he shot my cleric once while my attention was diverted. When the other two knights rushed in, my chanty was useless except as cannon fodder, and my cleric died a horrible death in exchange for a knight. I was forced onto the attack.

The attack went well. I lost my BW protecting my scout for a while, and killed the chanty. I then killed the cleric, leaving my scout on 20. I also killed the scout as he went after my scout... leaving me with a side block to win by 5... but it missed. I cleaned up the knight easily.

A pity, if the assassin had blocked I would have been a unit up, and he wouldn't have been able to attack me either. Oh well. Bottle (Rev Tag Team) beats *The Nothing* (Burning with Hate and Love) by 4 units (LW and 3 knights).

I can probably get the game in next weekend though, if tomorrow doesn't happen. Well, it's not for all the marbles this time. I'd like to think that even if you beat me, I'll have done enough damage that anything you do to wolfy will be negligible.

I'll only have "lost" if you pull through with 8 or so. Despite what you did to SW? 6 on 10, I have no doubt that wolfy will flawless anything less than 7 left.

However, I'm not conceding it anyway. So we'll see.

I only mentioned the sub just in case, in the VERY unlikely coincidence that the demands of my job preempt all playing time. This is NOT expected, but we are about to begin litigation on a very major and pivotal case and I must be prepared to do whatever they want me to.

Again, I do NOT think it'll be a problem. I just want to avoid dragging the thing on for 2 or 3 weeks just waiting for me if it turns out I'm needed in the home office (in which case I'll be staying at a motel in the capitol, doing research and going to court almost 24/7). Most unlikely, but it never hurts to be prepared and aware of the circumstances. In any case, I will try to check in periodically tomorrow in the hopes that my part in the tourney can be done.

I mean, I'll admit I wasn't playing my best against Draq, but his luck is the reason he got the units he did in our game.

As expected. Same side = no hope. BW did the damage- I came close to killing the witch, but the combo of BW, chanty potential of freezing my knight that moved to threaten the BW, and no cleric for me, I could do nothing at all.

Sad way to bow out.

Well, we had an excellent game. Both sides played well. An early witch block allowed her to take a knight and my witch in exchange for only her witch. We both pressed the offensive, then she cracked my shell.

However, careful maneuvering had allowed me to place a knight in her base, and the big fella did his job, taking out both cleric and chanty. While she was busy on my end, I took out her pyro and another knight. In the end, my units were too badly damaged to do much. I would have had a shot at another knight if my guy would have blocked, but luck was not with me.

She has wards, 2 knights and scout. I can't imagine that'll be worth much. I may not have secured us an advantage, but at least I didn't put us at a DISadvantage.

Again, a marvelous game. Luck favored her, but not by so much that it was anywhere near unreasonable. I'd like to think I've done my part this tourny...

Realist beats Wolfman with 4 units left to win that match for Burning with Hate and Love and ensure an RTT tourn loss.

Extremely good game, I was nervous every second of it up to the end. I think I was slightly winning most of the game after he let my kill a knight through freezing with an enchy, but wolf evened it up with an ass bomb. I had an advantage during the end game with blocks, but wolf had many more in the beginning, so luck was even overall.

It was great playing you, RTT, and good luck in the future. :cool:
