FERAL CHILD

Revised stats in BLUE

History
Having spent their lives before now being nurtured in an non-human environment, the FERAL CHILDREN have only the most basic grasp of many social concepts. While having learned to use many words and combine them into simple phrases, the FERAL CHILD is incapabale of syntax. Their co-existance with "civilized" humans is tenuous; tolerating the strange behaviors of others only for the benefits it gives them: ready food sources, the strenght of the "pack" and shelter from the elements. Their barbarous upbrining has honed their skills and senses beyond that of the most elite fighters, however, they eschew the use of weaponry beyond that of their crude, stone replicas of the blades and axes they now have been exposed to. Fierce in battle, while numbers are on their side, they will seek a hasty exit when available again superior forces. Cornered, the FERAL CHILDREN are at their most dangerous.

Why bother, why not just use the beast rider?

Well, for one, the attack pattern is different. Whereas a Beast rider can be flanked and beaten down, the FERAL will strike regardless of relative position.

Secondly, the unit is "pumpable" based on strategy and providence. I'd prefer 29 Damage dealt to 19: conversely 84% blocking is nice too!

Just two off the top of my head. :D

Used properly, this simple variation becomes an excellent offensive and defensive unit, something sorely lacking in the either or world of rush/turtle.

They'd have to be right next to the feral to get the bonus which detracts from the versatility. I'd prefer the assassin bomb or the extra range of the beast rider.

Who'd have to be next to them? Allies? Nope, re-read the original post. Enemies, yes, that's where the FERAL needs to be to strike. :)

P.S. I love you!

Reread the post yourself. That's only for the blocking.

to many pronouns for me to follow what you're trying to say. Please restate or elaborate so I can see what you mean.

Any suggestions on improvements?

I'm saying that you only get the power boost when you have allies next to you.

I like the concept of bonuses based on enemy or friendly units being near you quite a bit, it's good and creative. The problem with this unit is that other than that, it's almost a clone of the beast rider and thus not very interesting.

The power boost comes if you have allies next to the unit FERAL is attacking, for example.

A
A E A
A E F E x
A x A

Where F= FERAL
A= Ally
and E= Enemy

FERAL would get +30 to his attack because there are 6 allies arourd eligible Feral targets. (6x5=30)

FERAL would get +18% to his blocking because ther are 3 eligible enemy units next to HIM (6% x 3 = 18%)

I suggest you clarify that in the first post.

Even still though, it needs something else. Even with a good concept like this, sometimes you need to give it a secondary thing to make it more interesting. I think this is an okay unit but it needs to be a little more different than the assassin or beast rider and at the same time, not much more powerful.

Well, the health and power are the same as a beast rider. The abilities, however, are interesting. Since adjacent squares are squares right next to the unit, the Feral Child could only get up to a max bower of 34 power.
Wait a sec...that's not good.
Unit Grade: B-

I mentioned that I knew the sentence was bad, maybe what I should have said was the explanation was poor.

Suggestions on tweaks? I'm open! :)

If only we could combine our forces for good!

While the max boost would be +40, it would take the following to make it so, and that probably would not happen too often.

A
A E A
A E F E A
A E A
A

A= ALLY
F= FERAL
E= ENEMY

I also just though of another thing that would give it a super-boost: a line of friendly units.
Example:
F F F F F F F F U X
F=friendly unit
U=Feral
X=enemy
Therefore, this unit can become very strong. If you can counter my accusation, I won't lower the grade to a C+.

...and YOUR thoughts on the unit?

Talinsword

Nope, only a friendl unit next to FERAL boosts it's blocking. i.e.

E
A F A
A

..would give it +18% blocking. It's max would be +24% if the FERAL was surrounded, but then it'd have nobody to attack, this would be practial only againt Pyros or DW or muddies.

I like that you guys make me think! :bigsmile:

Hold up.. Confused... Original post says that
For each enemy unit adjacent to FERAL CHILD, +6% to blocking

But you just gave an example of friendly units boosting blocking...

Other than the confusion that is being generated by this, I like the idea a lot... A unit that truely works best when used in a team.

Just try to cure my confusion? please?

i thinck the unit is almost an excact replicca of the beast rider and i under stand whats being said but i still if i were gold would rather use a beast rider than this but its still a good idea just to mutch like the beast rider

For each friendly unit adjacent to enemy unit FERAL CHILD is attacking, +5 to power. (I know that sentence is bad, I can't think right now) Actually the way you have thhis sentence worded it should only work for the unit your actually attacking, not the one's your capable of attacking.

I sure did, sorry, reverse that. You're absolutely right.
