Anyone living in California probably always has the thought of earthquakes in the back of their mind...

So here:
http://pasadena.wr.usgs.gov/step/

24 hour earthquake prediction, straight from the USGS.

Someone out there should keep an eye on this, and tell me how often they feel earthquakes, and compare it to the prediction scales.

I have only been in an earthquake as a 4 on the richter so it wasn't serious, this happened in Zakynthos a greek island.

I live in England so I never felt an earthquake until then.

i grew up 5 miles from a dormant volcanoe (yes in Cali). My earthquake concept is "Is that the best you've got?! C'mon!!! Bring it!!!"

Tornadoes on the other hand scare the hell outta me.

edit: ha! looked at map and it the green area west of Sac is right about correct, i lived right on that big lake just a but north of it. Near Ukiah.

I heard about that on NPR. Apparently it is most accurate at predicting aftershocks, and the site is mostly there for educational purposes.

Tornadoes aren't that bad. Luckily, they usually stay out of towns and cities. Although some people's luck isn't the best...

i live in cali (San Diego), and i am pretty sure i have never been worried bout earthquakes. The only natural disaster i think i was afraid of was the San Diego fire that lasted like 4 days, that pretty much burned a circle around where my town is. That was pretty intense. In SD we get earthquakes probably 2-3 times a year, but most of them are really small, last like 1 second, or happen when i'm asleep and i never know. I think people who aren't from cali think earthquakes are a bigger problem here than they actually are?
I don't know, maybe that's just me, in general i don't really worry about anything.
Except the rep system, it is my greatest fear to get an unsigned neg rep and watch my life and morale fall to pieces.

say that after being in a big one. Small quakes are like small tornadoes (which i've actually now seen). Possibility of some damage, but nothin to raise a panic.

Maybe your too young to remember the last big LA quake. I was little, but i remember it well enough (my aunt lived in LA at the time and i was down there when it happened). THATS enough to make anyone paranoid.

Here in north cali though...I think people are more worried about flooding. Lots of agriculture, and stuff that runs down from the mountains...always have some sort of flood in the winters.
